WELCOME TO

IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY We are so excited you have chosen Iowa State University as your new home and that you are considering becoming a member of our Greek community! The Iowa State Greek community is large and continuously growing, and we pride ourselves on our community’s commitment to success. The Panhellenic sorority community at Iowa State is one of a kind and there is a home for everyone here! When you choose to join a sorority, you are adding a whole new experience to your adventure at Iowa State. Your sorority experience will help create friendships, connections and memories that will last long after your time at Iowa State. It will also help you discover your potential and grow to become the best individual possible! The women in the community were able to find their “home away from home” through Panhellenic Sorority Primary Recruitment and now we want to help you find yours! Your participation in Panhellenic Sorority Primary Recruitment will lead you to become a more well-rounded student and individual. We are confident that your experience in Panhellenic Sorority Primary Recruitment will open your eyes to all the opportunities available to you during your time at Iowa State. Throughout the week reflect on your values and where you see them in connection to the chapters you visit. The values you obtain within these chapters will help challenge you as an individual throughout your years at Iowa State. It is important to remember the values that shape who you are, as this will be your guide in finding your forever home. This guide will be your go-to resource for information about our Panhellenic sorority and our Greek community. You will find many resources in this booklet such as chapter information, and finances! Panhellenic Sorority Primary Recruitment is a unique experience that requires a positive attitude and an open mind in order to have the most enjoyable and memorable week! Welcome to the exciting new adventure in your collegiate experience!

YOUR ADVENTURE STARTS HERE! Sincerely, Mary B. and Alli S. Vice Presidents of Recruitment Collegiate Panhellenic Council

RHO G AM M A I N F O R MATIO N Recruitment Counselors (also known as Rho Gammas) hold a leadership position within the College Panhellenic Council to positively promote sorority life to potential new members before, during and after the primary recruitment period. Recruitment counselors work together to speak about all of the wonderful benefits of sorority membership to women interested in joining a sorority. They strive to increase interest and participation during recruitment. Recruitment counselors are sorority women, but remain impartial, meaning they are not focused on and are not directly affiliated with their specific chapters for a time frame that is identified within the College Panhellenic Council.

4

Here are some topics that recruitment counselors discuss with potential new members: • Academic support and achievement • Responsibilities within the fraternity/sorority community and chapter organization • Philanthropic and community service activities • Leadership opportunities • Lifelong friendships • Value of membership beyond college years As a potential new member, you should get to know your recruitment counselor and feel comfortable going to her with any questions you may have about recruitment or sorority life. Remember: during recruitment, the recruitment counselor is your best friend!

MULTICULTURAL GREEK COUNCIL & NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL SORORITIES

MULTICULTURAL GREEK COUNCIL

NATIONAL PAN-HELLENIC COUNCIL

The Multicultural Greek Council serves to improve and create dialogue and cooperation between parallel-goaled organizations. Membership includes fraternities and sororities that have an element of diversity as a foundation to its values, including Latino/a, Asian/Pacific-Islander, and LGBTQQIAA+. This council is one of our fastest growing councils, with three chapters joining in 2014!

This is a collaborative organization of historically African-American international Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities. Each organization was established on the tenets of brotherhood/ sisterhood, high scholarship, leadership and service to others. The ISU National Pan-Hellenic Council is home to two fraternities and four sororities. The National Pan-Hellenic Council chapters elect peers to serve in leadership roles to further the vision and mission of the seven National Pan-Hellenic organizations. These leaders promote scholarship, leadership and service to others through collaborative events, cultural awareness, and promote their organizations at chapter and University events.

Chapters within this council offer many opportunities for interested students. The Multicultural Greek Council is governed by peerelected leaders who serve the community to create opportunities, for collaboration, scholarship, community service events, promotional opportunities and programs for cultural awareness. • Delta Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. • Gamma Rho Lambda National Sorority • Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. • Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. • Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc.
