LIVE YOUR LIFE IN LÜNEBURG

Lüneburg is over 1,000 years old. Established as a salt mining community, it enjoyed great prosperity in the Middle Ages, supplying the Scandinavian and Baltic Sea states with its salt. Renowned for its opportunities and affluence, Lüneburg was the place to be for Germany’s most well-todo – which is still evident in the well-preserved inner city. Our lavish 13th and 14th century churches, St John’s, St Michael’s, and St Nicolai, the beautiful baroque Main Square and the tranquil medieval monastery attract visitors from all around the world. Today, Lüneburg is essentially a university town. The great variety of pubs, clubs, and live music venues are a testimony to that. COST OF STUDYING AND LIVING

Leuphana University of Lüneburg is a public university. Therefore, students, including international students, do not have to pay tuition fees. Semester fees for administrative and other university services amount to 365 euros. Exchange students benefit from a full waiver of the administrative fee of 75 euros. Compared to some other European countries, the cost of living in Germany is rather low. The standard cost of living for students amounts to approx. 700 euros per month, but of course this varies depending on individual lifestyle.

Experiencing the best that city living has to offer as well as the comforts and quirks of a vibrant campus community – that’s what living in Lüneburg is about.
