CANCELLATION OF RESERVATION Cancellation of reservation, 21 days before your arrival for hotels there is charge of 30,00 euro per reservation, for apartments-villa there is charge of 30% of the total sum of the reservation.

Cancellation of reservation between 21 days and 7 days before your arrival has a

charge of 50% on the total sum of reservation. In the case where cancellation of the reservation is less than 7 days from the date of arrival, then we do not refund any money for high periods such as Christmas, Easter and high period and during summer period 15/06- 15/09.

In the case of your late arrival between 24.00 and 08.00 hour in the morning, there is an extra charge of 50% of the daily price of your stay for covering of additional expenses in the process of your arrival.

For any observation and complaints, we ask you to mention them in our offices at you arrival or during your holidays, in order to attend any immediately solutions.

Afterwards your departure complaints are not accepted, neither can anything be done to change your requirements.

In cases where the transport to the lodging, cannot take place due to either/or, strikes or other cause, our office, Les Hirondelles " can carry no responsibility for this.

You sign a contract on your arrival that binds you to leave the studio apartments in the original condition and you can not issue a another contract with an altered date.

AGIOS IOANNIS AGIOS IOANNIS The best place for holidays for all season, almost 55km from Volos in the eastern coast of Pelion, invites its visitors to a refreshing swim at the crystal - clear blue water of the most beautiful beaches of the region. Each year Agios Ioannis attracts regular clients as well as new visitors from all over the world, to this beautiful and natural landscape that has a characteristic healthy climate and plentiful green mountain, forests which slope down to reach the borders of the village. At the shore with its promenade, everybody meets for chatting over the last events while a lot of restaurants, tavernas, ouzeri and cafes take care of your well being offering you the specialties of the region. The village itself is situated on a magnificent , beach of sand and pebbles that goes on to the beach of Plaka while southwards meets the beach of Papa Nero.

It's worthwhile to make a tour around Pelion in order to visit the villages near Agios Ioannis but mostly to admire their unique architecture, their beautiful churches and monasteries not to mention their exquisite, traditional , red wine.

HOW TO FIND US! If you are traveling to Agios Ioannis by car you may take the Volos - Agios Ioannis road via Tsangarada (68 km) or the Volos -Agios Ioannis road which passes through Portaria and Hania (56km). You can fly to airport of Eleftherios Venizelos, 4 hours from Volos, to Macedonia airport, 2.30 hours from Volos, and to the airport of Anchialos -30klm from Volos city (charter flight).

BEACHES As you descend the mountain towards the Agios Ioannis coast a breathtaking sight unfolds before you. Rich green slopes reach right down to the edge of Agios Ioannis, strikingly beautiful sands. Enjoy the sun, sand and sea on either of the two beaches, Plaka and Papa Nero, only -300m from the center of the village (to the north and south respectively). A 10 minute walk takes you to either beach, while for the most adventurous, you can hire a boat from our office and explore the beaches of Banikas, Agioi Saranta, Fakistra, Milopotamos, Horefto and Limnionas.

ENTERTAINMENT A variety of restaurants, tavernas serving traditional cuisine, ouzeri, cafes, bars and discos insures a variety of entertainment for visitors of all ages and tastes. KENTRIKON HOTEL & BUNGALOWS AGIOS IOANNIS 01-0001 Location: One of the first hotels in Agios Ioannis, the Kentrikon was fully renovated in 1983 and extended by adding the Bungalows wing. Recently, after the renovation carried out in 2000, the hotel offers top-quality service to its Greek and foreign guests. The hotel is open all year round. Located in the centre of the village the hotel is designed in the shape of an amphitheatre on five levels, with access ranging from 20 to 100 steps. The hotel is in a quiet area, just 30 metres from Agios Ioannis beach, 500 metres from the beautiful and deserted Plaka beach and 800 metres from the famous Papa-Nero beach.

Your hotel: The buildings retain traditional features of the local architecture and house, in the main building, 6 rooms and a Luxury Suite with double bedroom and sitting room, and 14 more rooms in the Bungalows, as well as a second suite, with double bedroom and sitting room. In the ground floor there are the communal areas. The ground floor of the main building houses the reception area with TV, a sitting room with an open fireplace, a bar and restaurant.

The hotel is full of cosy and beautifully decorated corners where visitors can enjoy unforgettable moments, winter, summer, spring or fall. Further more, the common areas of the Kentrikon Hotel, as well as the adjacent areas of the Hotel GALINI, also belonging to the LEVENTI family, can be used for meetings and conferences, with a capacity of 80-100 people. Some of the double rooms have twin beds, others have doubles. Most of the rooms have a veranda or balcony with a view of the sea.

Services: At breakfast guests help themselves from the varied and plentiful buffet, which includes local produce and is prepared with the same care the Leventis family show when preparing their own food. The traditional local cuisine offers home made delicacies for guests on request .The hotel has safe deposit facilities and a fully equipped office with computer, e-mail, fax and photocopier. GALINI HOTEL AGIOS IOANNIS 01-0009 Location: The building's primary architectural design has been preserved since 1957, when it was built. The hotel's renovation was completed by the spring of 2000, and aims to offer its guests a sense of cosiness and luxury. The north ground wing of the hotel was expanded in 1961 by the creation of a semi-open air bar. A heated pool and a pool bar was added to the south part of the hotel in 2000This hotel, which is also under family managment, is situated in a quiet location in the middle of the centre of Agios Ioannis just 30m away from the main beach of the village. From the garden you can enjoy the view to the sea and during the evenings you can walk through the narrow alleys of the village or go down to the promenade to meet with the local people and get to know their way of life.

Your hotel: The hotel consists of 14 rooms divided in two floors. The ground floor hosts all the common use areas including the reception lounge, the winter restaurant, the main lounge, the kitchen, the main bar, the garden restaurant and finally the pool and the pool bar. All public areas have smooth lighting, are spacious and are arranged in a way that clearly promotes a style that combines the traditional with the modern in the most witty way.

ALOE HOTEL AGIOS IOANNIS 01-0002 Location: An attractive, good looking hotel, with fantastic garden in the centre of Agios Ioannis, 15m. from the beach. The hotel is very close to cafes, super markets, taverns, restaurants and shop that sell souvenir and folk art.

Equipment: The hotel with its 45 rooms offers the guests a reception lounge and two of living areas, one with two fireplaces and bar, a breakfast room and also a TV room. The visitor can taste the excellent cuisine of the restaurant inside the hotel -an area that's also used as a breakfast room- or even on the large green garden, which is very nice decorated with garden furniture.

Your room: Each one of the rooms has it's own telephone, central heating, shower/WC mini bar, some of them TV and air condition and most of them balcony with sea view.

Board: Breakfast Our opinion: A nice hotel in the centre of the village just on the sea side road that offers with its friendly atmosphere or relaxing holidays.

MARO HOTEL AGIOS IOANNIS 01-0013 Location: In the center of the village just hundred meters away from the beach is placed the Maro hotel. Near the hotel you can find cafes, restaurants, bars, super markets, bakeries Description: The three floor hotel has 47 rooms, three of them are three bedded, six of them are single bedded, nine triple bedded, and the rest 31 are double single bedded. The rooms are shared in the three floors of the hotel were the customers can move from floor to floor, using the elevator. The triple bedded and four bedded rooms consists of two spaces and 12 out of 47consist of a small kitchen with small fridge and 2 electrical rings. At the entrance of the hotel you can find the reception hall, also the breakfast room and cafeteria.

Your room: All rooms are accommodated with single beds the single bedded with semi double bed, TV set, telephone, central heating and air condition.

Service: Breakfast Our opinion: A family hotel nearby the sea, ready to offer you full of pleasant, which you can never forget.

ELEANA HOTEL AGIOS IOANNIS 01-0012 Location: This beautiful hotel with 3 stocks and 2 elevators. In the reception area there is a color TV lounge and the breakfast room. The big garden full with flowers and some fruit trees is shared with the Hotel Marina next to Eleana, which belongs to the same owner. Eleana is situated at the edge of the village Agios Ioannis, where you can find many tavern's, shops and bars.

The beach is across the street to Agios Ioannis and Papa Nero beach is about 350m. For your rented car there is a parking space under the building.

Your hotel: This hotel has 42 rooms in total. Most of the rooms have a balcony with furniture. Some of the rooms look to trees and through them the sea and some rooms look onto the garden and the sea. There is a reception, living room with a fire place and a breakfast room.

Your room: Every room is well taken care of and has fridge, TV, and WC/ shower. There is a spacious bathroom with shower and WC. Services: Breakfast Our opinion: A very clean, well taken care of, spacious and lightly decorated hotel with a very friendly management and a lovely garden.

KELY MAESTRO HOTEL AGIOS IOANNIS 01-0014 Location: A modern hotel situated 15meters from the sea at the end of the village of Agios Ioannis. The balconies view the mountain or the sea and the hotel is very close to the market of the village, with restaurants, bars, shops for basic needs such as bakery and mini market and also shops with folk art and souvenirs. It is possible to participate in activities such as sports, trekking and walking organised by LesHirondelles office. In the hotel you can trying traditional desserts, tsiporo with mezedes and local Greek breakfast. The bright colour of the hotel gives a tone of life to the visitors.

Your hotel: It has 13 rooms, a living room with a fireplace that is used as a breakfast room and a snack bar. The large veranda with comfortable furniture offers a nice place for breakfast, romantic evening drinking and listening to music during the summer months Your room: They have fridge, TV, inverted air conditioning and WC/ shower.

MANTHOS HOTEL AGIOS IOANNIS 01-0017

Location: Going through Agios Ioannis, the beautiful and popular village of Pelion, 15meters from the sea is the family owned Hotel Manthos. On the large veranda someone can take its breakfast enjoying the view of the colorful Aegean Sea. Near the hotel you can find the market of the village, restaurants, bars and also shops such as bakery, souvenir, folk arts and mini market.

Your hotel: Manthos Hotel has 20 rooms on 2 floors and a breakfast room on the ground floor. On the first floor there are 10 double rooms, 6 with sea view and the rest with Mountain View. All of the rooms except one have balconies. On the 2nd floor there are 2 triple rooms and 8 double rooms. Some of them haven't got a balcony and 4 of them have magnificent views of the sea.

Your room: They have fridge, TV, phone, inverted air conditioning and WC/ shower.

Our opinion: A hotel where someone can enjoy his holidays in the summer and ideal for families.

SEVILI HOTEL

AGIOS IOANNIS 01-0005

Location: This hotel is under the management of the owner's family and is situated like the hotel Galini in the center of the village - the beach in a distance of 250 meters is to be reached on a footpath. 300 meters away from the quiet and cosy hotel you can find the lively center, full of taverns and shops and 350 meter away you can find the beach of Papa Nero.

Your hotel: The hotel with its 20 rooms offers the guests a reception area and a cosy furnished lobby with an open fireplace and a TV, a room that's also used as a breakfast room. You will enjoy your stay on the roofed terrace, which is beautifully decorated with garden furniture - relaxing and enjoying the calmness and friendly Greek atmosphere having a glass of Pelion's famous traditional wine. Every part of the hotel with its plentiful growing plants makes you feel at once at home.

GARDEN HOUSE APARTMENTS AGIOS IOANNIS 01-1700 Location: Bordering on Agios Ioannis, through maple-trees, and a huge garden with flowers, one discovers this oasis of calmness. The house is just 200m away from the beautiful sandy beach of Papa-Nero and you can reach the beach of Agios Ioannis after a short distance of 100m In spite of the quiet location, restaurants, taverns, shops, and bars, are available in the immediate vicinity (150), where one can have fun and mingle with other people. For those who prefer a quiet romantic evening, we suggest a stroll down the shore.

Your accommodation: The house consists of three floors. The ground floor is under the owner's use. The other two floors consist of more than 4 apartments. With extra cost you can have internet connection, telephone, common barbecue and some have air condition. The accommodation also has private parking.

Type B: 2 x for 2-4 persons on the 1st and 2nd floor. Each apartment is furnished in a charming way, and consists of one bedroom with two single beds and a living/bed-room with 1 sofas that converts into bed, an armchair and a kitchenette (separated by a bar from the rest of the room). A fireplace in the living-room makes you feel cozy, and creates a relaxing and carefree atmosphere. Each apartment offers you heating, TV, bathroom with small bath tub, and balcony with view to the sea (partly disrupted by the maple trees).

Type D: 2 x for 4-6 persons on 1st and 2nd floors. Each of these spacious apartments consists of 2 bedrooms, with one double bed and two single beds, a living-room with sofa bed and an armchair that converts into bed, fireplace, TV, heating, and kitchenette (separated by a bar), bathroom with shower. PAPA NERO This charming little settlemenrt with the virgin beach (sand/ pebbles) is situated just about 400m southward from Agios Ioannis, is 56km from Volos and 4km from Mouresi. Here the green of the mountains blends with the deep blue of the sea. It is still a secret place for the visitors of Pelion- the white endless beach and the various shades of the blue of the sea create a gorgeous contrast. Along the beach you will find picturesque small, traditional and cosy tavernas, where you can enjoy tsiporo and during the high season the entrance to the beach is forbidden for all kinds of vehicles.

The area is very busy and busting with tourists and visitors. Having said that it would be misleading for us to suggest that this is a busy, vibrant resort throughout the summer period. It is simply that the town offers a wider variety of tavernas and bars than the other villages of Pelion.A magnificent place for relaxing holidays enjoying sun, see and Greek lifestyle.

The white pebbles and sand of Papa Nero provides all the ingredients for a perfect beach holiday but there is much to do besides that. The mountain villages of Mouresi, Tsagarada and Zagora are accessible by hire car and provide the opportunity to dine in an attractive village square.

It is also relatively easy to explore the peninsula either through a combination of excusrions or by hire car.

A short distance away, Agios Ioannis (about 700m)will give you the chance to go shopping, meet people, have fun, or just enjoy a calm afternoon by taking a stroll down the sea.

During high season, the entrance to the beach is prohibited to any vehicles. There is a parking area available a 100m away. During your arrival and departure our office staff will assist you with everything, including luggage.

The location's surroundings are suitable for tours, and a motorcycle and bicycle rental station is available nearby.

Your accommodation: The house consists of a small reception booth, with information desk on the ground floor, attended by the owner. In total there are 11 units on the first (60 steps for the first floor) and second floors (75 steps for the second floor).

Our opinion: It is our suggestion for families with children because is so close to the beach and composes one of our best proposals in order to choose your holidays in Pelion.

Location: Named after the beautiful beach, this accommodation is located only a few steps above it, is surrounded by olive trees, and is offering a splendid view. The nearest tavern is just next to the accommodation, and in order to reach a variety of shops, markets, bars etc. you have to walk only 400m, to the village of Agios Ioannis.

During the high season the entrance to the beach is prohibited for all vehicles. Parking area is available some 500m away from the house. Upon arrival and departure our friendly, and helpful staff will assist you. As the accommodation is situated in the same area with the houses of "Kima", you will have the same ideal options for hiking and biking.

Your accommodation: A sloppy road leads from the house to the coastal road and in the public car part which is 250m away. The two-story house consists of 9 studios and apartments on the ground and 1st floors. All apartments have TV and partly air condition.

HIRON HOUSE PAPA NERO - AGIOS IOANNIS 01-1050 Location: This unique house is situated in absolute peace and quiet on the north side of Papa-Nero beach in rural surroundings with rich vegetation. It takes a 5 minute walk to reach Papa Nero beach while the nearest village Agios Ioannis lies in a distance of 200m and offers you a great variety of tavernas, bars, cafes, shops and lots of ways to entertain yourself. In front of the house there is a parking site right at your disposal.

The fact that this house is one of the few unique houses between the two famous beaches, suitable for families makes it an ideal place for resting, long walks on the beach and short hiking-tours through the wonderful landscape. The magnificent view to the sea from your veranda and the evergreen landscape down the coastline makes you forget all the worries of every day's life.

In order to get to know your surroundings better you could rent a bike, a bicycle and a motorboat nearby.

Your accommodation: There is a sloped road 10m in length that takes you to the house and the private parking space. It has four spaces: kitchen, living room and 2 bedrooms TYPE D. It is isolated from other houses but at the same time is very close to the road.

TYPE D: For 4-6persons. The unique, simple but practically furnished house is suitable for 4-6 persons. FILITSA HOUSE PAPA NERO-AGIOS IOANNIS 01-1250 Location: Just a few steps above the Villa Hiron, embedded in the same rich green landscape lies this unique family suited house. Near the beach and the forest it is the ideal place for visitors that seek a quiet vacation and love nature. It is as well ideal for families - no fast cars and noisy streets disturb your children playing outside.

Your accommodation: On a footpath you reach the beach of Papa-Nero after 250m and after 10 minutes of walking down the beach you will see the village of Agios Ioannis with its vivid promenade, tavernas, cafes and shops. If you have decided to take your own car on your vacation you shouldn't worry about a parking space because a parking site is just a few meters from the front of your accommodation. But please have in mind that in high season the entrance to the beach is forbidden for all kinds of vehicles.

How about changing your car with a small boat - you can rent boats on the beach and make a trip along the beautiful coastline of Pelion - something different and interesting.

FLOWERS STUDIOS MOURESI 05-0530 Location: In the Mouresi village, between Tsagarada and Agios Ioanis and concretely 10 minutes driving from Tsagarada and Agios Ioannis, in a nice green environment from chestnuts and cherry trees are found 5 buildings of where one is used for residence of householder and the other 4 buildings are in different heights and include in total 6 one room apartments.

Distance from the centre of village is just 800 metres, from Agios Ioannis - Papa Nero-Ntamouchari beach and Tsagarada only 4 kilometres. All four buildings are built with drawings, where they appear intensely the characteristics of Pelion architectural externally with stone roofs, roof verandas and built stone. Internally, are decorated with nice furnitures with cheerful colours, intense the presence of timber, obvious all points of roof and with enough points of decoration.

PARALIA APARTMENTS PAPA NERO AGIOS IOANNIS01-1350 Location: Justly on the beach, a few meters from the exceptional Aegean Sea, the famous beach Papa Nero, is the recently renovated two-floor house "Paralia", only 40 meter from the first tavern and 700 meter from Agios Ioannis. The passage to the apartments is from the beach-promenade, in which cars are not allowed, especially in the high season. Parking possibilities in 600 meter.

Your accommodation: In the ground floor of the house there is an apartment type D and from an outside-stairs you' re going to the apartment type C Type D: For 4-6 persons with two sleeping-rooms, one of them with two single beds, a berth and a wardrobe, the other one with a double-bed, a living-room with two possibilities for sleeping in couches that is ideal for children, TV, a full equipped kitchen with a hearth, a oven, a freezer and a dining room for 4-6 persons. The kitchen is only separated with a door. WC with small bath tub. Outside there is a yard.

Type C: Type C on the first floor, which consists two 2 sleeping-rooms. DAMOUCHARI Its very name is taken from a heartbreaking love story and translates as "for the name of love. Is a place of astonishing beauty and peacefulness, unique for the picturesqueness and splendid colours.

The Damouchary is the only natural port of the whole Eastern Pilion range. You reach the village from Agios Ioannis after 8 km following the rural road. The walking in the area is magnificent, climbing the steep craggy steps of the cliff overlooking the beach, or meandering along the coastal track that leads to Papa Nero beach and Agios Ioannis . Through a picturer kalnterimi for 1 hour and 45 minutes you can be in Tsagarada Here it is speculated that it was the place of ancient city of Murai. It consists of two bays. One a natural harbour with fishing boats wallowing in the shallows, overlooked by a couple of sleepy tavernas and bars. The other a stunning white pebble beach with aquamarine waters, graphic tavernakia above in the wave. The olive grove with the silvery leaves are touches that compose the beauty of this magnificent table.

Information: Our office has the possibility of organise small excursions - visits, with small boats to calm neighbouring beaches. This is the easiest way in order to go from Agio Ioannis to Damouchari.

THE SEA WATCHER COTTAGE HOUSE DAMOUCHARI 01-1690 Location: Between Agios Ioannis and Damouchari in a panoramic location you can find the cottage.

Someone to get to the cottage, he has to take the main central road that is 3,2 km from Agios Ioannis or the shorter one around the beach Papa Nero which is only 2km. The cottage is 10meters from the road (there is a private car park for only one car), and 400m from the beautiful white pebbled beach of Damouchari. In the area of Damouchari you can find taverns with fresh fish, a mini Market and a small newsagent. A more organized and larger market can be found in Agios Ioannis.

The beach of Damouchari is considered one of the best beaches of Eastern Pelio and has big pebbles.

You can swim in the small natural cove of the area that is 350m from the cottage You can enjoy your coffee or food next to the shore. In 2 km you can find the beach of Papa Nero.

For evening entertainment there is a bar that is built on a rock with magnificent views of the natural port of Damouchari (operating during the summer months). One thing is for certain Damouchari will amaze you.

Your accommodation: TYPE B (2-4 persons). An old cottage that was recently renovated as a modern summer accommodation of two spaces of 38sqm. It has 1 bedroom, a living room and a big veranda. The bedroom has 2 single beds; the living room has a fireplace, a TV, a small dinner table, 2 sofas, open plan kitchen with a mini fridge, hot plate and coffee maker. The house has WC/ shower and air conditioning in both rooms.

The veranda is very comfortable, has furniture, wonderful views of the blue sea.

Our opinion: You can indulge in unforgettable moments of meditation, tranquility and is suggested for people that wish to rest.

APERANTOS VILLA DAMOUCHARI 01-1680 Location : The "Aperantos Villa" is located in Damouchari which is just 3,5km. from the beautiful village of Agios Ioannis . In Damouchari you can find tavernes with fresh fish and mini market as well and a small ten-cent store with newsparers , magazines and cigarettes.

The beach of Damouchari is one of the best beaches of East Pelion. You can swim at the small port of the region and to enjoy your coffee or your meal next to the sea. For your amusement at nights there is at the area one small bar which is builded on a rock with incredible view (it is open for the summer time only).It is for sure that the region of Damouchari will charm you. At about 5 km. is placed the village Mouresi where you can find mini market , butchery, greengrocer's shop and enough taverns. A largest village , Tsagarada , is just 9 km. from Damouchari. By passing Tsagarada and travelling just 28km. you are at Hania, at 1200m. height. At Hania and especially at the region Agriolefkes , at height 1350 and 1500m. the ski centre is waiting for you. It owns 4 areas for ski, 2 cozy harborages, 2 ski elevators infirmary and spacious parking.

Equipment : The "Aperantos Villa" is a part of a block of two-floored mezonettes which are builded amphitheatrically at the slide of the mountain,a fact that gives them the advantage of having all a wonderful view to the Aegean sea, and they are suffocated in the green of Pelion. Someone has access with his car from the main road to their entrance which is up to the level of the road. The material that bestrides is the Pelionstone at the housetops and at the floors also. One very organised constracture with paved pathways leads after 70m. descenting to the sea, to one rocked and isolated beach. The nearest beach for swimming is the beach of Ntamouchari which is just 300m. from there.

Your accommodation: The "Aperantos Villa" owns 1 Apartment Type D with central heating. It is a two-floor constracture at the ground floor of which there is the living room of the villa which has a fireplace, T.V. , sofa, chairs and a french window through where someone has access to the veranda which has garden furniture and a wonderful view to Aegean sea. In the groundfloor is placed also the full equiped kitchen with an electric oven and a big refrigarator and which is seperated from the living room with a pass, and the W.C. Inside stair leads to the first floor of the villa where there are the two bedrooms and one W.C. with tub. The one owns one double bed and a furniture with drawers for the clothes and the other one sofa which turns into a bed for two persons. Both of them have a french window through which has someone access to the balcony of the floor which has wonderful view.

Our opinion : The pelion-style architecture of the villa and its location make it qualified to feel the isolation during his holidays without missing the luxuriance at his lodgin and the ability of tasting comforts whenever he wants it in very small distances.

XINOVRISI- POTISTIKA 47km from Volos and 15km from Argalasti on the eastern side of Pelion where there are several of the most distinguist beaches of the region, far from indiscreet eyes lies the beach by the name of Potistika.There's only one taverna on the promises where one can get everything he needs to get by.

This is the place to visit whenever you feel the need to escape from everyday's stress and rest uppon the white sand under the glorious Greek sun or regain his strength in the green forests nearby.

Should you need a larger variety of shops and ways to ammusement seek the villages by the names Xinovrisi (8km) and Argalasti (15km).

PALTSI A settlement that is 53 km from Volos and 13 km from the Argalasti. It Is found south from the beach of Potistika protected from the north-eastern winds, a beach with crystal waters and a splendid golden sandy beach. The torrent that crosses the rich valley is poured in waters of sea. Near in the beach is built the church of Agios Konstantino. In September Agios Taxiarhes hurch that is found in a near hill celebrates a local festival. Following the walking path for Layko, roughly 2,5 hours in duration, one can enjoy the beauty of nature. In Paltsi you can also calm down and dream combining the imagination with the reality the green mountain and the clear crystal water.

KATIGIORGIS Katigiorgis is a small fishermen village in the southeastern part of Pelion, it lies directly to the sea and you can see from it in a distance of just 3 knots the island of Skiathos. From Volos to Katigiorgis there is first of all the road through the mountain part of the area which is full of turns and then there's also the road going through enormous fields of seed. MILINA

LEFOKASTRO 43 km southwards from Volos and just about 2 km from the picturesque village of Argalasti, lies the beaches of Lefokastro. In order to get there you take a 5km long rural road through olive groves and flocks of sheep enjoying the green landscape all the way down to the sea.

The drowsy fishing village with its small houses by the sea is discovered mostly only by insiders because of its rural road. Hospitable fishermen impress the cosy and quiet atmosphere with few tavernas and shops - a paradise for visitors looking for relaxed holidays far away from everyday troubles. Beside the beach of the village there are some small bays which you can reach after 30 minutes of walking. Also by walking, you can reach the village of Afissos as well.

KALAMOS As you leave behind the village of Argalasti, after 7 km southward you reach the small village of Kalamos, right by the sea. The village and the surroundings are an ideal domicile for relaxing holidays for adults and children as well - a wide, adventurous and partly shady region due to it's areas that are all covered with trees, full of peace and quiet, cornered small beaches at the clear, blue sea that are waiting for you. Only 3km from the center you find the port of Trikeri - Agia Kiriaki.You can take hovercrafts from there to Volos and the island Old Trikeri - a nice, daily excursion.

AGIOS ANDREAS VILLAS HOUSES AGIOS ANDREAS MILINA 24-2260 Location: Isolated 7 houses in the bay of Agios Andreas in the middle of an olive field 3km. far away from Milina, and very close to a little bay, there are seven little houses. Small pebble beach 20m away with parking beyond those houses. 900m away there is a taverna and also a good organized market can be found in Milina. If someone has the possibility to use a boat, exactly in front of the houses there is small port, inside a windless bay, which is protected from all weather conditions.

ÁFISSOS

AFISSOS Only 26km away from Volos towards South Pelion is situated at the shore this idyllic village at the shore and at the base of the Pelion range. Its houses are situated half round above a fantastic sandy beach of the pagasitic gulf on a slope. In this way all the village is surrounded by olive trees and bordered by the sea. The traditional architecture of this village built at the beginning of this century is also very impressive.

In ancient times the village was famous for its extraordinary quality of water - so it is rumoured that the port was used by the Argonauts as a supply station.

The village and its surroundings offer quiet vacations as well as evening entertainment by the countless tavernas, cafes and bars. Beside the beach on the promenade three more beautiful sandy beaches (Kalifteri/ Abovos/ Lagoudi) are waiting for you.

MILIES Milies is a big village in the Pelion range and was the former cultural center of this region - shown by the huge collection of the library.

Old manor-houses, the snake-like pavement (Kalderimi) of the paths, the small rivulets and the silver shining olive trees are painting a picture of long forgotten harmony.

The glorious past of the village is shown as well by the old, sleepy railway station, former terminal of the local steam railroad Volos-Milies. The picturesque train was shut down but the steam locomotive is still running and became the new attraction.

You have to try the local speciality "tyropsomo" ( bread baked with cheese) and the "firikia", the delicious mountain apples.

KOROPI Koropi the seaport of Milies built on the site of the ancient town with the same name. In Petralona there was the 5th century BC oracle of Apollo Coropaius. Prophecies were performed, according to the ancient historians, at the end of ceremony, which lasted two days and was aimed at appeasing the God. A procession of locals and visitors made their way to the temple out side, which the sacrifice was made by all the believers who asked for prophency from Apollo. After giving their name to the "secretary " they went into the table and put into a special pot their question written on a scroll.

The next day the committee took out the scrolls and distributed them randomly as an answer from God. KALA NERA This swimming resort is situated on the gulf of Pagasiticos 18 km south of Volos, embedded in olive groves and pear-tree plantages. Even for families it is an oasis of peace and recovery.

It is one of the Pelion-villages that bewitches the visitor each time of the year - smoothly casting sandy beaches framed from shady old plane-trees and beech-trees - crystal-clear water inviting you for a swim, watersport or fishing.Hiking along the small footpaths discovering the greek nature passing fountain brooks and visiting detached settlements. GATZEA A little bit further from Kla nera is the coastla settlement of Kato Gatzea with the wonderful sandy beaches of Sykia and Stavros which have olive trees streaching down the sea and an organised camping ground. In Ano Gatzea there is the stone monestary of Agia Triada.

AGRIA- DRAKEIA- AGIOS LAVRENTIOS The coastal settlemnt of Agria was founded around 1850, before which it had been a simple Turkish customs and minitary station, and hosts cultural evens such as fishing night at the end of July. From the crossroad at Agria there is a road that leads after a breath taken route, to the village of Drakia at the bottom of a verdant ravine with apple tree wood and olive groves. On the festival which takes place on 23rd of August on the village square, traditional customs of the area are worn. After Agria, only 1km further down is acrossroads, the road to the right leads to the village of Agios Lavrentios, with the hotel Kentavros and a church of Agios Dimitrios which has an important iconstasis. The famous monastery of Agios Apostolos of Neou celebrates, with a religious festival, on the 16th of August.

VIZITSA Betwwn Agios Georgios and Milies is the little mountainous village of Vizitsa where the most well-preserved Peliot mansions. In addition to the picturesque square with the necessary shops for the visitors, the katholikon (dated 1797) has been preserved in the monastery of Agios Ioannis of Prodromou. It is a work of Zapaniotis and is located at the entry to the village.

Your hotel: The complex consists of 28 rooms distributed among several buildings, 2 four bedded rooms, 26 double rooms that 20 of them can be converted into triple rooms. Three of them are in the ground floor for people with special needs.

It also has a reception area, lounge with TV, and a bar, breakfast lounge/ restaurant with fire place, tavern, swimming pool, children’s swimming pool and a pool bar.

Location: Two-storied houses with two apartments next to the central road of village, with courtyard full of flowers and trees and a beautiful pergola. Hardly few metres from the village's square the church and the old library, and just 7 kilometres from the nearest beach, Koropi. There are enough choices for the visitor, restaurants and taverns with traditional home made cuisine, and cafes as small shops for cover any visitor's need at the duration of stay as bakery shop, mini market and butchery.

ALKYON HOTEL ÊÁLÁ ÍÅRÁ 16-0003 Location: In Kala Nera at the second parallel road from the main road next to the sea the complex of those apartments is only 100 meters from the beach. Only few meters for the local market that has coffee shops, bars, restaurants and folklore shops. Still from Kala Nera you can access on foot all the pathways to Milies, Pinakates, Vizitsa and Agio Georgio Nilias Your accommodation: Two floor resource complex that has a receptionary area with a small living room and private parking space and a breakfast room with with TV. At summer time the big yard offers a pleasant shadow from the grape tree. Visitors can relax at the yard.

Our opinion: A new building, with service and location for enjoyment of Pagasiticos Gulf during summer holidays and a base of operations to the central and east Pelion during winter.

VILLA AGRIA HOUSE SOUTRALI AGRIA 12-0050 Location: Approximately 7 km east of Volos and on the edge of the Pagasitic gulf, are the three buildings of this accommodation, built amongst a 1.200m2 pear and orange tree field.In order to reach the villas you have to take a narrow earthen road about 1 km. All the maisonettes of the buildings are located above a small bay with pebbles.

In the little village of Soutrali you have the possibility to go shopping in its little stores. The village of Agria (2 km. away), located on the coastline, offers you its lively atmosphere, with shops, seaside taverns, and cafes. In both Agria and the nearby city of Volos, you can enjoy lively evenings, in the city's bars the old town's harbor. A visit to one of the many traditional "ouzeri " (a.k.a. "tsipouradiko") seafood taverns, is also a worthwhile experience.

Your accommodation: The maisonettes offer space for 4-6 persons. Each of them has a bedroom with double bed, bedroom/living-room with double bed, fireplace and kitchenette, bathroom with shower and covered veranda, and meadow with playing ground. LAVRENTIS HOUSE AGIOS LAVRENTIOS 17-0150 Location: The LAVRENTIS HOUSE is located in Ag. Lavrentios, one of the highest villages in central Pelion, only 12 kms from Agria village. A 200-m. footpath leads you from the parking area (next to the central square), to the house.

Your accommodation: The two stories house is recently renovated and consists on an out yard with trees and grapevine and view on Pagasetic Gulf..

The housekeeper stays on the ground floor, and an independent entrance, leads to the first floor where there are 3 double bedded rooms, one with two single beds and two with double bed each, a living room with dining area a fireplace and TV, kitchenette and central heating.

Of the peculiar folk-art of Pelion from the last centuries, the main works which have survived are the architectural creations and their decorative elements. The famous mansions of Pelion have tower-like construction with three floors as a rule. The first two are built of stone, are stone paved and have thick walls with a few small openings for windows.

There is usually a marble or stone lintel above the door by which we enter the ground floor (made up of the ground floor and semi-basement) which was used as a storage room for first-aid products for the people of the house. From the ground floor, wooden stairs lead to the tampanas (or "middle floor") a place used by the family as a winder residence where there is also kitchen. In contrast to the first two floors, the third floor is build with light wooden construction, which sticks out from the others and has many window and skylights. This floor is used in summer and for guests. From the middle of the 19th century, the first neoclassical elements in the decoration, of both the interior and exterior, of the mansions of Pelion started to appear.

Those locals who had become rich as a result of trading called in guilds of craftmen during the 18th century, to build bridges as well as monasteries and churches, all of which have roofs made of local slate. The majority of these craftsmen came from the village of Zoupani (know today as Pentalofos) and , because of this became know as Zoupaniotes or Zipaniotes. One of them, the folk-architect Dimos Zipaniotis, left his mark in hundrends of churches of Pelion. Working with him was his friend, the folk-sculptor Milios. The local craftsmen

lerned from this builders and went on build the majority of cobble lanes of Pelion.

Your accommodation: It' s nine rooms, with bathroom, TV, telephone. Open all year, giving moments of warmth, next to the fireplace, during autumn and winter, and great coolness, in the green garden, during the spring and autumn.

Services: Offers breakfast, with homemade marmalade, and cake, evening coffees and drinks, in the living room or in the garden of the traditional house.

NANOU MANSION KOUKOURAVA MAKRINITSA 09-0910 Location: The mansion of Nanou is found roughly 250m. from the central road VolosKoukourava-Makrini'tsa that leads to the Makrinitsa via Koukouravas. Its has panoramic view of Volos and Pagasitic gulf.

Your accommodation: The restored mansion is recently renovated and has a central building, a ground floor and a floor in which are found 4 rooms. Next to the mansion there is a small house with cooker and living room with fireplace. In the space of living room there is a bar where the customers can enjoy their breakfast next to the fireplace. Our opinion: One very beautiful traditional mansion that was was restored recently and is ideal for companies what will have all the building in their disposal. An advantage for this mansion is the distance from Volo for those that would want to be close to the city.

ARCHONTIKO MATSAGOU TRADITIONAL HOUSE KATOHORI PORTARIA 08-2570 Location: This three-story house, built in the traditional style of the local mansions, is located on an excellent site with beautiful view to the Pagesitic gulf,and 200m from the village's main square. The accommodation is spaciously built, and is surrounded by a huge garden with grape vine, rose flowers, and trees. Even with the traditional construction does not sacrifice comfort in the slightest. Shops and restaurants are at a distance of 100m.

Your accommodation: The traditional housel has 9 rooms on three floors and next to it its a small housed used for breakfast room and sitting area. A little garden house with kitchen, living/breakfast room with color-TV, which guarantees hours of relaxation during your vacations.

It has a magnificent view to Pagasitikos Gulg with many running water and an green landscape, and a remarkable newly renovated old-traditional houses.

The "Tzortzi Archontiko" is located next to the central square of the village, the access is very simple, a hundred meters away from the central road. The area has convents-museums, fountains built of stones, cobbled roads, beautiful paths for walking.

Your accommodation: The building is one of the first old traditional houses that has been renovated. It has been characterized as a work of art from the Ministry of Civilization and is a remarkable sample of the architecture of the past century. It has a beautiful external decor(undercoats, carved decorations). Internally it is decorated with furniture and illuminants of it's season, carpets and antiques.

The traditional house "Allatino" is placed very near to the central square of the village a pathway , the "kalnterimi" as it is called , about 100 metres from the central road leads you to the house.

Location: In the centre of the traditional village of Vizitsa there is an old building (built in 1830) that has been renovated and functions as a traditional mansion. It is located near the square of the village.

The mansion has preserved all the features of the old architecture and all the interventions have followed closely the tradition. As a result, someone can feel that he is in an old Pelion mansion. Its simplicity, warmth and the beauty of the authentic carved ceilings can be found in all rooms.

TSAGARADA The eastern side of central Pelion-approx. 47 km east of Volos and about 10 km from the beach of Agios Ioannis. It is a green landscape with rich vegetation, high plane trees and chestnut trees. One of the most beautiful touristic places of the dreamlike landscape of Pelion, is the village of Tsagarada, which is located approximately 450 m above the sea level.

Tsagarada was founded in 1500 in a wild chestnut wood. Around the churches of Taxiarxes,Agia Paraskevi, Agia Kyriaki and Agios Stefanos, four wonderful settlements have formed. On the square of Agia Paraskevi, a special surprice awaits the visitor: a huge one thousand year old plane tree with a trunk whose circumference reaches 14 metres. Another special characteristic that catches the eye are the houses with large flower gardens.The view from the surrounding ridges is unforgettable, the old churches of Agia Paraskevi,Agios Georgios and Agia Kyriaki are now restored and in the churches of the Taxiarches and Agios Stefanos there are wonderful carved wooden iconostases.

From Tsagarada we continue down the tarmac road for a few kilometres to sand and pebble beach of Mylopotamos, with light coloured crystal waters, which packed with tourists in the summer. In the location of Karavostasia the legend says that the waves washed ashore the corpses of barbarians and the smashed boards of Xerxes fleet that was sailing from Thermaic Gulf to the cape of Sepias.

MOURESI This village is the oldest in Pelion. Its 60 km from Volos at an altitude of 370m. It's built amphitheatrically between the apple and chestnut trees.

The visitors in a short drive can be at Milopotamos, Fakistra, Damouchari, Papa Nero and Plaka beaches each which can be considered a picture postcard. Mouresi is located close by with an identical outlook and feel. The views are dramatic, looking across the plunging mountainside and the Aegean sea.

Mouresi overlooks a deep valley whose great beauty is known only to the few lovers of nature, the initiates, who have sought out a guide to take them down the deep recesses of the ravine where two streams form natural pools in whose ice-cold waters only fairies and nymphs have bathed since the dawn of time. The hikers will then resurface into civilization, a changed person with a twinkle in his or her eye.

The village's cobble flag-stoned, main square is just beautiful and is surrounded by a tall linden tree that generously lends its shade to the beautiful church of Agia Triatha. A few hundred meters down the main road there is the old church of the Dormition of Virgin Mary, with a woodcut icon which is of a great interest and a prime example of a basilica, quite artfully built and decorated with an old, carved wooden iconostasis of exquisite craftsmanship.

NEA KIVOTOS APARTMENTS TSAGARADA 05-0520 Location: In a small paradise full of green trees and blue flowers, you can find the Victorian Villa "Nea Kivotos". It was the summerhouse of a local person that lived permanently in Egypt and returned for holidays to relax and rest.

ATHONAS APARTMENT TSAGARADA 05-3100 Location: Én Tsagarada, at the district of Agia Paraskevi, 100 meters away from the central road, in an isolated area, surrounded from the famous chestnuts of Tsagkarada, assuring of privacy but in the same time of quietness that the forest provides, there stands the newly built house. The house consisted of an apartment at the ground floor, in which the owners live and an apartment on the first floor, which is offered for rent.

It's only 10 minutes, on foot, from the central square of Agia Paraskevi with the long-living Plane and the homonymous church.

The renovated family hotel is located at the central road and it has wonderful view. Shops and places for entertainment can be found at a distance of 200m at the centre of the quarter.

Outfit: The hotel has 24 rooms-12 at the two-floor main building where the reception of the hotel is , and 12 opposite of the main building in a two-floor constracture. The hotel owns also at the ground floor restaurant which is used also as a breakfast room (breakfast - buffet)and a living room with fireplace and T.V. HOUSE KAMARA APARTMENTS MOURESI 05-3150 Location: At the village Mouresi next to the area of Tsagkarada and upwards of Agios Ioannis in Pelion area following the road that leads to the beaches of Agios Ioannis, of Papa Nero and Damouchari, is located the newly built house in the area of Kamara towards the end of the village Mouresi. A ten minutes walk will lead you to the center of Mouresi where you will find a super market, a butcher's shop, a bakeshop, which are on operation on an all year basis. The newly built house is consisted of a ground floor and two floors.

On the ground floor there is an apartment Type D and a separate entrance that leads to the first and to the second floor, where at each floor an apartment type b is located.

Also there is parking place for the tenants.

TYPE B: (1st and 2nd floor). For 2 to 4 persons. Two apartments have a living room with a fireplace from which the one is framed from two traditional sofas while the second apartment has a living room with a fireplace framed from one traditional sofa with sleeping possibility for

a third person at an extra bed. These also provide a kitchen equipped with an electric oven with two electricsl rings, a refrigerator and the kitchen table, which is divided from the living room with a small pass. In the bedrooms there are double beds, toilette and a mirror. The furniture of the apartments are traditional antiques, that creates an exquisite atmosphere.

ÌÁÊRÉÍÉÔSÁ ÌÁÊRÉÍÉÔSÁ - ÑORÔÁRÉÁ - HÁÍÉÁ - ÆÁGÏRÁ

MAKRINITSA 12 km from the city of Volos, at an altitude of 450 m. is the settlement of Katichori-the lower village,as it is below Portaria. A way of 1km leads to Portaria but before reaching there a side road of 3 klm leads left to Makrinitsa .

Both villages in an altitude of 600 m. are two of the most famous villages of Pelion with their mansions, climbing, cobbled streets and the babbling brooks beside them.

In the large square of Makrinitsa with its tall old plane trees and the ice-cold crystal water -"Importal water"of the carved fountain, there is the church of Agios Ioannis Prodromos. At the edge of the square survives a hagiography by Theofilos and in the location of the ruined Topalis mansion, has been built the wonderful Folkore Museum which hosts a collection of rare objects and mementos. In Makrinitsa the known custom of "Maidon" still survives; a series of wild ceremonial performances that have their origin in the ancient pagan Dionysiac ceremonies. A visitor can also admire the old churches, chapels and monasteries, many of them were rebuild or restored but other ruined

and abandoned can be found in all round the village till the settlement of Koukourava, the place that join the city of Volos with Makrinitsa, too.

PORTARIA Going back the road, the traveler reaches Portaria (altitude 600m) where some researchers place the ancient town of Ormenio. The guest can visit the mansions of Portaria, where survive memories of former glories and also Taxiarchon square with its plane tree and the stone fountain, the location of Karavos were there are waterfalls, as well as the church of Agios Nikolaos which has wonderful reliefs in the sanctuary and next to this church a small chapel with hagiographies.

During the last years of Byzantine Perriod (1246-1276) in the location of Portaria, there was a settlement of Ano Dryanouvena. Also the village was flourishing during the years of Turkish occupation and not only because of the silk products and the cottage industries.

In Portaria were born and raised a number of important donators who used their fortunes for public work all over Greece. The cultural activity of the village is remarkable. In the mid of August there is a unique opportunity to see the enactment of a Pelion wedding at which folk-customs are revived.

HANIA At an altitude of 1200m. one finds Hania, with hostels and old inns, or chania which gave the area its name.

Nearby, in Agriolefkes at an altitude of 1.529m., a well organized ski center operates. Hania is also the center where most of our programs "DOIT"-nature activities, start for those who are interested in mountain biking,

walking and trekking through the "heart of Pelion mountain" ending to the sea .

ZAGORA Leaving back the mountain and taking the road to the sea the visitor passes from Zagora, one of the most famous villages of Pelion, at an altitude of 480m. and 47 km away from Volos city.

It is an ancient town with a great development and prosperity during the Middle ages and more recent times and also an important centre of trade, cottage industries and culture during the 17th -18th centuray.

The cultural prosperity relied on "Elinomousseio"Greek Museum, a school of higher education with a boarding school, known today as the School of Rigas, because it was there that the heroic-freedom fighter, Rigas Velestinlis-Ferraios, was going as well as other great spiritual personalities such as the ring leader of the national revolt of Pelion, clergyman and scholar Anthimos Gazis and many other eminent Greeks. In Zagora, the visitor can see the library , can visit old churches such as the church of Agia Paraskevi, Agia Kiriaki, Agios Nikolaos, the old church of Metamorfosis and chapels all with interesting murals and valuable post-Byzantine icons. This small town, in the middle of the woods of Pelion, is the home where thrive the famous fruits of Pelion and handicrafts, rare pieces of folk-art are produced.7 km from there founds someone the seaport of Zagora, under the name of Horefto, the old trade and maritime center, one of the most beautiful and largest, intricate, sandy beaches of eastern Pelion.

ACHILLEAS HOTEL MAKRINITSA 09-0001 Location: Nearby the beautiful square of Makrinitsa you can find hotel Achilleas. In a small distance from the hotel you can find tavernas, restaurants, and pop art shops.

Your hotel: Walking up the first level you reach the inside of the hotel, were you can find a small wooden reception.

Just opposite is placed the breakfast room, which is also used as a coffee bar. The place is beautifully decorated with a traditional architecture of Pilion and it owns a fireplace and T.V Through an inside ladder near the reception hall you can reach the first floor were you can find five double bed rooms with two single beds each with the capacity to add one more bed. REPANA TRADITIONAL HOUSE MAKRINITSA 09-0007

Location : The traditional house Repana is located about 250m. from the central parking of Makrinitsa, on the main road that leads to the square of the village from which is just 100m.

Description : The traditional house consists of the main neoclassic three -floor building with paled yard around it, at which there are 4 Double and 2 Triple rooms and a two-floor construction with separate entrance which constitutes the 7th room of the traditional house and it is placed at the back area of the yard and right of the main building. The yard is advantaged with a big enough tree that offers natural shadow and has small tables where the breakfast is served when the weather allows it.

Your accommodation : At the ground floor of the traditional house there is the reception with one small sitting room and one level lower is the breakfast room and the kitchen. Opposite of the reception is an inside stair which leads to the floors and the rooms.

1st Floor : Here are 3 Double rooms. All of them have 1 Double bed , wardrobe , mirror-furniture, telephone, T.V. , central heating , W.C., and windows with view , other to the village, other to the yard and other to the road.

Two - floor consructure: It has a separate entrance and it consists of two floors in a mezonette style. At the ground floor there is a living room area with a small table , chairs, sofa which can turn into a bed , fire place, T.V., telephone, central heating , windows. Left of the area of living room is the kitchen full equipped with an electrical oven and a big refrigerator and next to the kitchen is the W.C. An inside stair leads to the bedrooms which are placed at two different levels( in a attic) where the ceiling is made of big wooden pickets crossed to each other. At the 1st level is placed 1 Double bed with a commode and window and at the 2nd level are placed 2 Semi-double metal beds connected to each other and a wardrobe.

Our opinion : This traditional house combines the services of today with the tradition and consits it ideal for relaxing holidays.

They are few minutes away from the main square of Zagora where you can find the church of Agios Georgios and the market with the pharmacy, taverns and traditional shops. In Zagora there is a Health Center.

Description of the studios: 5 studios for 2-4 people with paved floors and 4 out of 5 have wooden beams that adds character and beauty. Every room has a double bed and a sofa that opens to a semi double bed. There is also a small living room with a fireplace, open plan kitchen with a hot plate and a small fridge. The space has also a WC/ shower, a TV, air conditioning and central heating. Each one of the studios is different from the other by the way it is decorated and furnished.

Our opinion: Few studios have a fireplace and comforts in the area of Zagora. They are suitable for holidays all year round.

VOLOS Volos, the only port of the prefecture and the third largest in Greece, is built in the cove of Pagasitic Gulf . THE HISTORY OF THE LITTLE TRAIN OF PELION The miniature train of Pelion has been a dynamic element of culture and development leaving its intense mark on the history and environment of the area.

For 76 years (1895-1971) it climbed the mountain carrying passengers and freight , thus immensely contributed to the rapid development of the area.

The man who had the inspiration of its manufacturing, under the auspices of the Thessalian Railroads Company, was the Italian engineer Evaristo de Kyriko,

father of the famous painter Giorgio de Kyriko, who was born in our town in 1888, lived a happy childhood here and carried this place onto his paintings in symbolic forms, particularly during his metaphysical era, which made him immortal.

Evaristo De Kyriko built one of the best in the world railroads, of only 60 cm width, through the olive groves on the slopes of the Centaurs' Mountain. A masterpiece which will always be adored for its high esthetics, the harmony in its form and the perfection of its manufacturing.

The quaint form of this minute train which used to climb the mountain at 25 - 30 Km per hour, carrying hundreds of people and goods, combined perfectly with the tiny railroad stations in Agria, Lehonia and Milies with the stone and metal bridges as well as with the building of the railway station in Volos, dating back in 1884 and still remaining a symbol of an era of beauty foregone but still moving.

ing rare exhibits, a real asset to our city.

The little train, running on Belgian engines "Milee", "Jason" "Pelion", "Volos" and "Tsagarada", could also serve the city's needs as a tram and it was the only public transportation available in those days, that's why it was connected with most of the historic moments of the area and was loved by everyone.

Later it was slowly removed from the scene with the advent of the automobile until it was completely stopped as uneconomical in June 1971 Today, this unique steam train thanks to the continuous efforts of its "Friends" and after 25 years of immobility climbs the Pelion mountain once more at 25 km per hour.

Beginning its journey temporarily from Lehonia (soon the terminal will be in Volos) the train climbs up the slopes through the olive groves past the traditional villages of Ano Gatzea, Agia Triada, Agio Athanasio Pinakaton, Argyreika and arrives at its termi-

nal in Milies, having offered a unique experience of magic and beauty to its passengers, something rarely found in our days.

People traveling on this train can enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea from the mountain and can pause and take pictures of the renowned bridges of De Kyriko, the old stately houses, the little chapels and monasteries, living signs of a foregone era.

Day 1: Transfer from Makedonia airport in Thessaloniki to Pelion, passing through the seaside villages of Platamonas and Litohoro on footsteps of the imposing Mount Olympous.

Still hidden and unaffected form tourists, a natural part of Greece that offers varieties of activities in the area. It is a real paradise for tourists loving nature, various activities and are interested in culture.

The mountain-range of Pelion, arise eastern from the city of Volos, extending to the south as a sickle-shaped spit until it reaches Aegean Sea and Pagasetic Gulf. Since the times of the Centaurs and Argonauts, Pelion was famous for its large forests, olive groves, orchards and the big variety of medicinal herbs. A lot of myths are associated to this region, giving wings to the fantasies of each visitor. The bowels of Pelion, are hiding small, traditional mountain villages, either standing as Goddess Aries on the rugged mountain tops or being surrounded by dark green vegetation near an ice blue mountain torrent. However the visitor can walk through olive groves, lemon plantations and deep forests reaching at the end of his way picturesque fishing villages in lonely sandy bays at the seashore.

Day 1: Arrival in Thessaloniki – Volos.

After the arrival in Macedonia airport, you will be driven through Tempi Valley by bus to Volos. Arrival in our hotel in Portaria, a small village above Volos with a beautiful view to town. Dinner in the hotel or in a restaurant and first meeting with our guides.

Day 2: Little train-Trip to Milies-walking In the early morning you will be driven bus to the little village Agios Georgios by bus, where we’ll have a typical Greek breakfast, before we start our walk through kalderimi (old stone road –way-) and monopati (path) to the mountain village Milies. After lunch the legendary “Little train of Pelion” will take us in an adventurous trip over significantly stone arched bridges to Ano Lehonia.

Return journey with the bus to the hotel .Dinner in the hotel.

Day 3: Makrinitsa Makrinitsa is one of the typical villages-the balcony of Pelion as known with its old houses and the giant plane tree in the village square that worth a visit, just before we walk through shady paths towards Volos. In Volos we’ll visit an “Ouzeri” (typical small Greek tavern, where you can have tsipouro and lots of small culinary delicacies (Mezedes).

Return journey with the bus to the hotel. Dinner.

Day 4: The Great Odyssey After breakfast we are driven by bus to the ski center Hania (1200m over the sea). Through dense chestnut forests we cycle or walk (on request) on pretty paths down the valley to Tsangarada. Pause with lunch package. Afterwards we walk along the cost an old stone path to the coast village Damouchari. There, we take small boats or kayak for a trip to Fakistra. Return to the fishing village Damouchari where we will have dinner. We continuo our journey to Agios Ioannis, (our base), where we stay for the next 2 days. Walk time: about 5 hours Cycle time about 1 ½ hour and afterwards walk 1 hour.

Day 5: Mountain’s soul (Mountain bike and boat trip to the caves of Poseidon) Driven with the mini bus to the village Zagora. Then

descent with the mountain bikes through Pouri to Obrios, the northest beach of Pelion. With a small boat we sail along beautiful beaches to the famous Caves of Poseidon (god of the sea). After our visit the caves we reach Kamari bay and go to an Ouzeri. Arrival to hotel in Agios Ioannis. Dinner in a traditional Tavern/restaurant of the village.

Day 6: Laukos-Milina Excursion in the south of Pelion were we reach Laukos and cycle with the mountain bikes on gravel road down to the beautiful south coast Mikro. Afterwards we walk to Platania where we will have a break with a lunch package. Then we drive to the traditional village of Laukos and walk to Milina from Pagasetic Gulf. Day 7: Agios Ioannis-Meteora From Agios Ioannis we pass Volos and reach Kalambaka. Day 6: Our bus will take you to Hania. There you will have the most beautiful view of Pagasitic Guilf and Aegean Sea. From there we will begin walking downwards through paths to Xorefto village. Day 7: Daily excursion to Makrinitsa. It does really worth a daily tour in Portaria from where we will reach Makrinitsa on foot in order to visit the local museum, the old church of the village. In the middle of Thessaly, some 25 km west of Karditsa, is Lake Plastira. The lake was created as a result of a dam constructed on the river Megdova (this is the ancient river of Tavropos). The area has an altitude of 800m., and this makes Lake Plastira the bigest man-made creation in Europe. This wonderful area is ideal for mountain climbing, hiking, biking, fishing, horseback riding, and swimming.

It is a daily excursion and gives you the opportunity to get to know and to travel with the famous small train of Pelion that was manufactured in 1895. With this tour you have the opportunity to enjoy a journey on the most characteristic railway tracks of the world, 60 cm width, a project know for it high aesthetics and morphological harmony of the structure. It has been manufactured from the Italian engineer Evaristo Nte Kiriko, father of famous painter Tzortzio Nte Kiriko. We visit the traditional villages of Pelion Vizitsa and Milies.

We leave from the Agios Ioannis and the first stop is Tsagarada
