College for Kids Exploration & Adventure Lewis & Clark Junior Explorers For ages 9 to 11

Here is your chance to join the Lewis and Clark Expedition and become a full–fledged member of the Junior Explorers. Learn the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition by training at Camp River Dubois, their first Winter Encampment. Applicants should be prepared to train as a member of the Expedition by bettering their frontier skills, learning to serve in the US Army in 1803–04, preparing their own meals, making a journal, mending their uniform, identifying various native plants and animals and many more tasks. This week–long camp will be held at the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site –– inside the interpretive center and in the historic replica of Camp River Dubois. Junior Corps Members should report to Camp River Dubois on June 21!

G’day mates! Journey down under as we explore the Australian Outback through literature, art, recreation, music and more! We will learn about wildlife found in the outback such as kangaroos, koalas and dingoes and make our own outback themed snacks including boomerangs and kookaburra squares. This week is sure to be awesome!

Grab your passport and let’s begin our tour around the world! In this fun–filled, interactive class young travelers will explore a different country each day learning about cultures, traditions and history through stories, crafts, games and snacks. The itinerary for this tour includes stops in Mexico, Egypt, Australia, Italy and China!

Spend the day exploring the great outdoors with real Park Rangers! Kids will learn how to use a GPS unit and search for geocached treasures. They will learn how to catch and release fish with a seining net, enjoy a cookout for lunch, go kayaking and much more. Be prepared to get wet and dirty in this new all–day camp at the Environmental Learning Center on the banks of the Mississippi River.

A Story a Day

Make a Play in 5 Days I

This new interactive theater class for kindergartners brings story time to life! Favorite tales will go from the page to the stage with props, costumes, sound effects and make up. Key concepts including problem solving, communication and teamwork will be enhanced as young stars learn how to act out popular stories. Each child will play an important role in the presentation to an audience of parents, grandparents and siblings at the end of the week. For students who have completed kindergarten.

This new theater arts camp has all the ingredients to cook up a good play – one part silly scenery, one part colorful costumes and one part wacky props. What’s missing? Your part! Using a script adaptation from the classic folktale “Stone Soup,” students will rehearse and perform a short play, complete with basic production elements. specialist with over 25 years experience developing theatre programming for children and young people. She is working on her Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre with Acting and Directing emphasis at Lindenwood University. She specializes in creating original, developmentally appropriate materials to accommodate different learning styles.

School House Rock Live! Jr. For ages 6 to 11

Award winning dramaturg and teacher Helen Hoepfner graduated from Oklahoma University School of Drama with a master’s degree in Theatre History and dramaturgy in 2008. She has been working as a playwright in the St. Louis area, and her short play, Room 518, Please was awarded Best in Ten at Carpenter Square Theatre.

BME) is Professor of Music Education at SIUE and instructor at Lewis and Clark Community College, and has conducted choirs and directed musicals for the past 18 years. Students from kindergarten through college love learning from this multifaceted performer in musical theater with experience in choreography, costumes, make-up, props, and set design.

This three–day workshop is designed for kids ages 6 to 9 who would like to learn the fundamentals of cheerleading. Tailored instruction from UCA cheerleader, veteran dancer and squad coach Tabi Patridge will include cheers, motions, gymnastics, dance routines, stunts and teamwork. Each participant will receive a souvenir megaphone, set of pom poms, and individual picture with a uniformed cheerleader. There will also be a performance for family and friends on the last day. Competitive Stroke Clinic For ages 6 and up

Swimmers will learn stroke techniques for all four competitive strokes – freestyle (front crawl), backstroke (back crawl), breast stroke and butterfly – along with starts and turns in this 2–week intensive clinic. Swimmers will also learn how to circle swim within lane lines, dive off starting blocks, and use a pace clock. Clinic will be taught by a certified Water Safety Instructor who works with a Swim Team. Competitive Diving Clinic

Have you always wanted to be a cheerleader? Are you currently a cheerleader and want to learn some new skills over the summer? This is the camp for you! Taught by UCA cheerleader, veteran dancer and squad coach Tabi Partridge, you will learn the fundamentals of cheerleading including motions, cheers, dance routines, gymnastics, stunts, and teamwork. Each participant will receive a CD of routine music to keep and a souvenir DVD of the week at camp. There will also be a performance for family and friends on the last day. Please wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.

For ages 6 and up

Swimmers will work on skills and techniques necessary to dive competitively in this 2– week intensive clinic. Instruction will focus on approach, arm swing, body language and other techniques to prepare young divers for competition. Clinic will be taught by a certified Water Safety Instructor and experienced dive coach. Swimmers must be currently enrolled in or have completed Swim Level 5 or Level 6 and must already know how to perform a basic spring dive with approach. For ages 6 and older (or with permission of Swim Program Coordinator).

Meet the Instructors Tabi Patridge is the coach for Alton Middle School cheerleading squad and coached her girls to a state competition last year. With more than seven years cheer experience and 17 years as a dancer, Tabi also teaches cheer camps and clinics across the country as a UCA cheerleader.

LPGA teaching professional Laura McCune has been teaching golf to top rated juniors, college scholarship recipients, and club champions for more than 15 years. As an accomplished high school and All American collegiate athlete (golf, basketball and softball), Laura has successfully competed in RE/MAX World Long Drive Championships. She teaches players at all levels at courses throughout the Midwest.

Meredith Heater is Head Volleyball Coach and Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Lewis and Clark Community College. She started playing volleyball when she was 11 years old and has played competitively at Greenville College where she earned a degree in Psychology and Business. She formerly coached volleyball at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville and served as recruiting coordinator for the Greenville College Volleyball program. Dale Edwards is owner of Southwestern Archery in Shipman and is certified by the National Field Archery Association. As the instructor of one the most popular College for Kids summer camps, this summer will mark Dale’s 11th year with the program.

Coach Deon Thomas, wellknown by fans of college basketball in Illinois, is the men’s basketball coach and new athletic director at Lewis and Clark Community College. Coach Thomas played college ball at the University of Illinois from 1990-1994 and still holds records there for career points, block shot, rebounds and field goal percentage. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks, and helped win back-to-back championships for several professional teams in Europe. Tim Rooney earned his 500th career win in 2007 in only 21 years as a head coach. Rooney has served as head coach for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at Lewis and Clark Community College since 1993.

On Target! Beginning Archery Ages 9 to 14

Learn safety, responsibility, and the selection of proper archery equipment as well as correct shooting form in this beginner’s class. Receive one–on–one instruction as needed to improve your ability. Learn how to keep score and what is proper etiquette on a shooting range. The class is taught by an instructor from Southwestern Archery who is certified by the National Field Archery Association. Taekwondo for Kids For ages 8 to 12

Taekwondo, or “the way of kicking and punching,” is widely known as an Olympic sport and has more practitioners worldwide than any other martial art. It can also be a confidence boosting form of self defense; a graceful and powerful performance art or a character building physical exercise. This class is designed to give kids a good knowledge base in all these aspects of taekwondo and martial arts in general. Students will learn how to perform basic strikes, blocks, kicks and stances in ways that are energetic and aesthetically pleasing. They will also learn variations of these techniques, along with strategies and tactics, to apply in the ring or in real-world situations. Throughout the course, students will learn, and put into practice, the tenets of taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and indomitable spirit. This class is a good starting point for kids who are interested in studying martial arts and can also give current practitioners a refreshing spin on something they already enjoy doing. Games include a scavenger hunt, collecting horseshoes, bridle bits, and halters for game prizes. This program is designed to introduce young children to the wonders of horses. This half–day, week long course instructs young horse enthusiasts in the care and feeding of horses, the safety standards needed to work around horses, and the basics of horsemanship and riding. Pony Pals II For ages 6 to 10

This program is designed to build on the basics learned in Pony Pals I and give young riders a more in–depth introduction to horses and riding. Students will be refreshed the first day of camp, and then be allowed the responsibility of riding more independently. Students will assist in catching horses in the pasture for riding, will learn how to groom and tack horses with limited assistance, and ride bareback. Students will receive a riding lesson every day of the week culminating in a show for parents on Friday. Pony Pals II is for the horse enthusiast interested in furthering their horse education and training. Highlights will include a take–home workbook, CD of pictures from the week, and CHA certification for beginner riders. Participants must wear a riding helmet and riding boots. Prerequisite: Pony Pals I or prior riding experience, lessons or horse ownership.

The Rocky Branch Saddle Club’s 10–level program takes riders from beginner to accomplished equestrian. Each level is a set of building blocks combining riding skills and horse care knowledge such as how much oats to feed a horse, the difference between hay and straw and how to clean a horse’s hooves. Riding activities include playing games on horseback, riding bareback, navigating hills and bridges and a life–size riding maze. Saddle Club riders will learn to ride both English and Western styles with confidence. Merit pins are awarded at each level; riders who complete all 10 levels will graduate as an assistant riding instructor. Special activities include arts and crafts, demonstrations from a professional horse trainer, and assisting a veterinarian or horse– shoer. Saddle Club incorporates the riding handbook “Happy Horsemanship” (available for purchase along with club jackets and riding helmets).

This new program is designed to take your little cowpoke’s horse education to the next level! Students will build upon the skills learned in Pony Pals I and II, as they adopt a horse for the week and learn how to properly care for it. From feeding and grooming to anatomy and nutrition, campers will receive hands–on instruction in horse management. Students will also learn about other animals on the farm and how they coexist in a balanced environment. Students will receive a riding lesson every day of the week culminating in a show for parents on Friday. Participants must wear a riding helmet and riding boots. Parent/child teams will experience everything from the feel of a horse’s fuzzy muzzle to the giggles of excitement during your child’s first trotting steps in the saddle. Kids will learn how to brush their horse, put the saddle on its back and tell it how to stop, go and turn in the very first class. Rock Branch horses are generous, patient and sweet–natured. Riders will demonstrate their new skills for family and friends on the last day and be presented with a rosette ribbon. Meet the Instructors Barn manager Trudy Seeley is the lead day camp instructor at the Highland Saddle Club Equestrian Center in Highland. She has been a successful riding instructor for six years and; her students advance quickly and excel in all riding disciplines.

Lesa Teepe of Rocky Branch Stables believes horses bring out the best in kids by teaching confidence and building self–esteem all while having fun. She has a B.A. in Education from the University of Missouri and has taught children with disabilities as a public school teacher. Lesa has been involved with show horses since 1980 and enjoys competing in the equestrian sport of Dressage on her Arabian horse.

was named one of the “Top 50 Riding Instructors in America” by the American Riding Instructors Association. She has a B.S. in Animal Sciences and an M.S. in Animal Science (Equine Reproduction) and been teaching riding lessons for 18 years. Come and learn the origins of modern and contemporary dance like you’ve seen on the TV show “So You Think You Can Dance?” This class will include lessons on different dance techniques as well as some dance history and composition. Each day you will explore a new style of dance made famous by dancers like Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham, Jose Limon and Doris Humphrey. Various dance techniques will be taught using each choreographer’s style as inspiration. Working together as a group or individually, you will choreograph a short piece replicating the style of each day’s featured choreographer! Meet the Instructors Sara Miller is a certified Kinderdance early childhood movement specialist who has taught ballet professionally for 11 years. Her focus is to help children develop self–confidence and self– esteem while having fun moving and learning to dance.

Victoria Mattis has been a piano instructor in the Music Preparatory Department for more than ten years and has been teaching Kindermusik since 2007. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree from SIUE in 2003 and is an active member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Victoria is very passionate about her work with her piano students and loves meeting new families in Kindermusik each summer!

Dancer and choreographer Rachel Brady had been teaching children’s dance for over 20 years. After earning her Bachelor’s degree from SIUE, she danced professionally in St. Louis with Madco, Atrek and Suzanne Grace and Dancers. She taught dance and musical theatre New York City where she also performed with modern dance companies and presented her own choreography.

In this new camp, kids will participate in the unique experience of learning the worldwide language of Esperanto. Developed 120 years ago for communication between people of different language groups, Esperanto is a designed, completely phonetic and rule–guided language used by more than two million speakers worldwide. Kids will learn the 28 letters of the Esperanto alphabet, how to count, read children books, talk with a teacher and each other and sing songs, all in Esperanto. Grammar and vocabulary exercises will also be included to improve the use of English as well as prepare for learning other foreign languages. Could you be the next robot pet designer? By now you’re familiar with the little motorized hamsters that follow lines, squeak and giggle when you pet them, and change course when they bump into something. Ever wondered how they work? Using LEGO NXT Mindstorms robots, kids will explore the science behind robotic pets including design and programming, and build a simple robot to accomplish tasks and navigate an obstacle course. Each participant will receive their own robot hamster and light sensing robot spider to take home at the end of the week!

Using LEGO Mindstorms NXT Robots, kids will learn the basics of mechanical design, construction, programming and teamwork as they build their own motorized battle bots! Children become Computer Detectives and solve exciting daily missions in this class for “techi–tots”! Each class combines a fun learning adventure with sophisticated technology concepts in a creative way that teaches your child the early literacy skills needed for school, while using the computer as a tool. Alongside certified Imagine Tomorrow teachers, kids will have fun creating passports to places like Internet Island and Email Trail. Children receive daily “snailmail” with passwords for at home practice and a T–shirt upon class completion.

For ages 11 and up

Junior Engineers will get hands–on robot building experience as they design, test and tackle challenges in this new robotics camp! We’ll start the week trying to answer one simple question – What is a robot? Using the LEGO Mindstorms system, we will explore the basics of robotics, mechanics and programming. Throughout the week, campers will apply what they’ve learned and hone their skills to tackle various challenges. Each participant will receive a special take home kit at the end of the week. This camp is geared toward beginners, but all skill levels are welcome!

Meet the Instructors Desirée Bennyhoff

is a graphic designer and communications specialist who loves digital photography. She graduated from SIU Edwardsville with a Bachelor’s degree in design and advertising and is finishing her Master of Arts thesis in Speech Communication. Photography is Desirée’s favorite hobby and she frequently uses her design and photography skills to support local charities.

Vera Bojic is a graduate

of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign with a degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences. She serves as the state RiverWatch Program Coordinator and works with The National Great Rivers Research & Education Center at Lewis and Clark Community College.

Brendan Neal began practicing

martial arts in 1980 and received his first black belt in taekwondo in 1984. He is currently a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo, a 2nd degree black belt in bujitsu-kai and has trained in various martial arts and combat sports such as serrada escrma, shorin-ryu karate, judo and MMA. He has taught at many locations – to all ages and genders – over the last 25 years. He seeks to propagate martial arts as not just a sport, but as an all-inclusive do (way) of self-improvement and self-protection.

Terry Menz of Highland holds a Master’s degree in Teaching and in Business and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Medical Technology. She teaches science at Edwardsville High School. Terry and her husband Jeff are outreach coordinators for the Riverbend Astronomy Club which participates in the NASA Night Sky Network. Stacey Wolff is an elementary school

German teacher and coordinator of the foreign language program for the Alton School District. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in German with a minor in Linguistics and a Master’s degree in English from SIUE. She has traveled extensively in Europe where she was exposed to German art, architecture and culture firsthand.

Ashley Jones has a

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and is a teacher at the Alton Middle School. She loves reading, shopping and cooking!

Beth Speer is a teacher and working

artist who makes her living painting murals, creating greeting cards for Hallmark, and teaching at various schools. Her passion is teaching lifelong art-making skills that excites the imaginations of her students. Beth currently teaches at Trimpe Middle School in Bethalto and coaches the Civic Memorial High School Varsity Cheer Team.

Gloria Darr earned

a Master’s degree in Elementary Education and has been an education consultant for 25 years. Gloria loves telling stories and has an extensive collection of children’s books. She writes songs for preschoolers and has directed many children’s musicals and plays.

Jason Lux was raised by artists and began training at a young age. He received his Associate’s degree in Fine Arts with honors from Lewis and Clark Community College and is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in metals and printmaking at SIUE. Jason has been teaching College for Kids art classes since 2006. TechiTots Inc. Learning Center is owned by Becky Schrage and Andrea Wetzel–Darbon. Their goal is to prepare all young children with the skills they will need to succeed in their future. Each class experience integrates sophisticated technology concepts that even the youngest students understand and enjoy. Stephanie Vallo has combined her background in Family and Consumer Sciences and Education with a certification in Culinary Arts to pursue her passion for educating students of all ages in the practical life skills related to cooking, food science and nutrition. While Stephanie’s main interest lies in baking and pastry, she believes that learning how to properly select, store, prepare and serve food made with high quality, nutritious ingredients are essential skills to be cultivated by children and adults.

Sharon Andre

earned her Master’s degree from SIUE and has been teaching students from elementary school to high school for 18 years. She currently teaches math at Liberty Middle School in Edwardsville and enjoys helping students learn that math can be fun.

Connie Stilwell enjoys helping

kids explore science and social science themes through the use of lots and lots of books and creative craft projects! She earned a Master’s degree in Teacher Development from McKendree University and has been teaching elementary school students for 19 years.

Jill Karcher graduated from Southeast Missouri State with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and currently teaches first grade in the Edwardsville school district. She enjoys teaching science and helping kids learn through experimentation.

Julie Plunkett teaches elementary students in the Edwardsville School district. To teach younger students who are just beginning to read makes her feel lucky because she is able to help foster a love of learning, guiding students to become lifelong readers.

Amie Hanneken

loves math and helping students understand abstract concepts through manipulation, discovery, connecting, and sharing ideas with peers. She is a graduate of Millikin University and has taught middle school for seven years in the Edwardsville school district.

Andy Frey teaches middle school English and coaches baseball in the Triad school district. He formerly taught science in the Millstadt school district and coached a middle school Science Olympiad Team to First Place in the 2007 SIUE Regional Competition.

“Mad scientist” Angela Thole earned a

Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from SIUE and teaches in the Triad school district. She loves learning new things as much as her students do, and challenges her students to inquire about the world around them, think critically, and become life-long learners.

Kevin Wellhausen is an Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Allied Health division at Lewis and Clark Community College. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from SIUE.

Diana Lockwood is a

12-year veteran middle school language arts teacher. She teaches a writing based curriculum at Liberty Middle School in Edwardsville and loves guiding her students in developing their original ideas into colorfully illustrated stories.

Jenny Amador has studied the Spanish language for 10 years and currently teaches it at Liberty Middle School in Edwardsville. She has lived and traveled extensively in Mexico and enjoys helping kids appreciate new cultures and languages.

Christa Stiening

minored in Spanish at the University of Illinois and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She teaches Spanish in the Edwardsville school district and is passionate about sharing her knowledge of the Spanish language and culture with her students.

Erin Volkmann is an Environmental Educator for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is working on her thesis for a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from SIUE. She formerly taught middle school science classes in Phoenix, Arizona, and enjoys facilitating education adventures in outdoor settings.

Tara Goetz earned a Bachelor’s

degree in Organizational Management and Visual Communications from Ashford University. Tara teaches computer graphics and Web design at Lewis and Clark Community College, and enjoys helping students of all ages express their creativity with technology.

Illinois Agriculture Teacher of the Year and Excellence in Teaching award winner Tim Reed, M.A., studied agriculture at the University of Illinois and at the St. Petersburg Agrarian University in Russia. Tim teaches agriculture at Southwestern High School. He has worked with animals his entire life and loves teaching his students about animal science.

Corinne Didisheim

is an artist who enjoys teaching children the joy and power of authentic self-expression through a variety of art techniques including linocut, watercolor, Book Arts, and Origami. She holds a Master’s degree in Studio Art from Webster University and has studied at New York University, the New York School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and Ecole des Beaux Arts in Geneva, Switzerland. Corinne exhibits locally in St. Louis and New York City.

Dixie Gausling is a computer

educator. Retired professor Ronald Glossop, Ph.D., taught philosophy and peace studies for 40 years, and has taught Esperanto for 25 years to college students at SIUE and elementary students in Edwardsville and other U.S. cities. He spent last August teaching Esperanto to children in China, and has participated in international Esperanto conferences in 12 different countries. Dr. Glossop is president of the American Association of Teachers of Esperanto and Treasurer of the Esperanto Association of St. Louis.

is an Assistant Professor in the Nursing program at Lewis and Clark Community College and has been a registered nurse for 15 years. As a parent, experienced instructor of babysitting classes and a certified CPR instructor, Dawna is prepared to teach teens the skills they need to handle emergencies and be the best babysitter on the block.

Brad Winn is the museum director the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site at Camp Dubois in Hartford and teaches History at Lewis and Clark Community College.

Emily Stanley has a Master’s degree in Zoology and is the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program manager for the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois. Exploring the hobby of paper crafting or looking to try your hand at new techniques in card making? Are you an avid crafter who wants to meet others who share your passion? In this hands–on workshop you will learn how to use a variety of techniques to create a set of 10 cards including Birthday, Thank You, Thinking of You, With Sympathy and more! Fee includes most supplies and materials. Please bring your own scissors, adhesive and paper cutter with scoring blade. Previous experience in paper crafting is not required; all are welcome!

If you are interested in unique whodunnits this class is for you! Originating from the frozen North Atlantic, the Icelandic murder mystery genre is gaining international attention. Internationally recognized Icelandic literary scholar and instructor Chay Lemoine will lead group discussions about plot, character and themes as he guides participants through the cultural differences that make these crime novels so unique. In just 4 weeks, participants will read and discuss two successful debut novels by the reigning king and queen of Icelandic crime solving, Jar City by Arnaldur Indrithason and Last Rituals by Yrsa Sigurdardottir. Facials, Scrubs, Salts & More

Learn to create facials, body scrubs, and bath salts from scratch in this weekend workshop for Licensed Massage Therapists. This is a great marketing tool for every massage therapist looking to add simple services or sell products to earn more income for their business. You will be learning a simple three-step process for applying simple organic facial masks. Mixing bath salts, sugar scrubs, and salt scrubs is easy to do and can easily be personalized for each client. A basic understanding of hydrotherapy and aromatherapy will also be covered in this workshop. This workshop is approved for 10 contact hours of continuing education by the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. The course fee includes all materials needed for you to create a personal blend for yourself for a facial mask, body scrub, and bath salt.

Understanding Shoulders & Chest

Improve your understanding of the muscles, organs, bones, and fascia in the shoulders, chest, thoracic and ribs. You will gain a better sense of movement within the body through visual aids and palpation. Understand the physiological effects of tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, chronic trigger points, scoliosis, hypnosis, asthma and torn rotator cuffs, and how to help your clients with these problems. Techniques taught in this workshop will help with improving range of movement, realigning posture and gait, improving athletic performance, and enhancing the body’s innate ability to achieve wellness. Hot Stone Massage

Understanding Lower Extremities

The essence of this work is to introduce heat in a soothing, penetrating way by blending hot stones into your massage work. Hot Stone Massage is a perfect marriage of the medical benefits of moist heat, and the unbelievably good feeling of smooth flowing stones. In this weekend workshop, you will learn specific techniques for massaging with stones to provide a more therapeutic massage, save hands and fingers, and add revenue to your practice. Four Hand Massage Workshop

Four hand massage is a very unique treatment performed by two therapists working in unison to balance energy and induce deep relaxation while incorporating the principals of thermotherapy, reflexology, and Swedish massage techniques. This workshop is offered exclusively to licensed massage therapists. Therapists are required to sign up in pairs for this unique learning experience. Each participant will need to bring two sets of sheets, four bath–size towels and four hand–size towels. Therapists must be willing to give and receive work with other therapists. Workplace Safety Flagger: Highway Work Zone Safety

This course will focus on a review of the standards established by the National Safety Council and the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Emphasis is placed on individual flagger requirements regarding at–risk worker training and responsibilities. Medicar & Service Car Driver Safety

The Medicar and Service Car Training program is designed to target primary instructional areas of non–emergency transport requirements. Public Act 095–0501 amends the Illinois Public Aid Code requiring all such providers must certify that the driver and employee attendant have completed a safety program approved by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (DHCS). Healthcare Provider CPR

This course is intended for healthcare professionals or students enrolled in a health-related career program. CPR includes adult, child and infant one- and two-rescuer CPR; rescue breathing for the adult, child and infant using a bag-valve-mask device; use of an AED; and management of a conscious and unconscious adult, child and infant who is choking. Children should attend class dressed appropriately for the weather or to suit the program. Art and science classes may be messy! Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to class; water is always available for refilling. Students attending an all–day class should bring a sack lunch and drink.
