The national standardized child passenger safety technician certification course is four days in length. It combines classroom instruction, hands-on work with car seats and vehicles, and a community car seat safety event. At the checkup event, students demonstrate skills learned during class, following event procedures and instructions, proper use and installation of child restraints and the ability to teach parents and caregivers how to properly protect their family while traveling. Students are required to attend the entire certification course, complete both the hands-on and written exams and actively participate in the checkup event in order to remain eligible for certification. Successful completion of this course certifies the individual as a CPS technician for two years. The minimum age requirement for CPS certification is 18 at the time the course begins. $85 Tue–Fri

WESST Customer Spotlight / Voice of the Client

“Advanced Med Car transports Medicaid patients to non-emergency medical appointments for the state of Illinois. We have had a great relationship with Lewis and Clark Community College for all of our training needs over the past eight years. Our drivers must attend a Med Car Safety training class every three years and must be certified in CPR, First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogen. The college staff has always been very accommodating to our training needs and the instructors always make the classes fun and interesting.” Brian & Kathy Wayt, Owners Advanced Med Car
