Welcome to Fall 2015 Our entire team wants to thank the families, children, individuals and business employees who took any of our personal enrichment workshops or professional development courses this past year. The team is always on the lookout for new topics and activities that improve your lives or careers in fun, engaging and meaningful ways. For those of you considering our programs for the first time, thanks for looking through this catalog. Please call to enroll or to ask about anything you don’t see. With enough interest from a group of friends or a company, we may be able to arrange requested topics even if they aren’t listed due to our huge curriculum of more than 3,000 course titles. So, what is new this fall? Advanced swimmers who have completed Level 5 or 6 can take Competitive Strokes. For the first time ever, we are offering Life Leadership self–study courses you can listen to while driving or review in the privacy of your home or office. Although we have featured a wide selection of online self–studies for many years, these are CDs and DVDs that do not require internet access. The self–discovery topics enable you to learn and grow with advice from New York Times bestselling authors on marriage, parenting skills, leadership, financial fitness and much more. For professionals in the northern region of the district, we are now offering some of our most popular business courses, which were previously held at the N.O. Nelson campus, at our Godfrey location. Check out titles like Discussing Performance, Managing Change, Train– the–Trainer and The Crash Course for New Supervisors. We are still the only Midwest provider of the Houston Area Safety Council Contractor Safety Orientations including The Basic Orientation Plus® and its refresher for contractors needing ARSC reciprocity at plants and manufacturers nationwide. We are the only Metro East location for SHRM programming including their new certification exam preparation course, SHRM Learning System® and SHRM Essentials® of HR. Also for HR, we still offer a Job Assessment Service to ease the recruitment process (see page 7 for more information on these services.) Thanks! We look forward to seeing you soon.

T3: Train the Trainer for Instructors
This “Train the Trainer” (T3) is a fun, yet realistic course on how to be a better classroom leader or public speaker. Overviewing the best standards for leading others through effective learning experiences and meetings, this T3 compares and contrasts the roles of trainer and facilitator, and surveys the foundational skills of effectively speaking in front of others no matter what the topic. The strategic impact of adult learning styles is also addressed along with many practical tactics such as personalizing topics, the rights and wrongs of eye contact, using parking lots and two– way communication to lead training groups or improve meetings. And T3 describes the roles and goals of the personality types that trainers and facilitators must recognize and deal with in group situations so you will be the one in charge – not your audience! A Crash Course for New Supervisors
Yesterday you were one of the employees who took orders; one of the team. Now you’re in charge of the team. What do you do? How do you change from being one of the workers to supervising all of the workers? Most importantly, how do you make that change so that you gain the respect and confidence of your employees, your own manager who hired or promoted you, and also respect yourself in the process? Are you aware that the most important part of supervising others is controlling yourself? Would you like to know time–tested tactics to handle the typical situations faced by supervisors everywhere? In this half–day workshop, you will learn techniques and strategies in the “Successful Supervisors Toolkit” so that you don’t wreck your career (or damage other employees) just as you get started. If you feel it is “sink or swim” in your new role, this crash course provides a life line. At the conclusion of this session, you can immediately use what you learn so that you can mature into being the kind of boss others want to work for. CEPD–440–01 Thu Dec 10
