In the realm of personal enrichment for families, a topic of great importance is cybersafety in the wired world hooked on social media. Beyond Facebook, how much do you know about apps like Snapchat, Instagram and others that your kids use? Do you know what dangers exist, or what safety discussions you should have with your teens about social media usage? This is so crucial, that we have added a new workshop for parents and teens to learn how to protect themselves online. See page 4 for details. At the other end of the age spectrum for those approaching or at retirement, how about Taking the Mystery Out of Medicare? Designed to clarify rules and options that will impact your decision–making, the course also includes a valuable reference book for you. Check it out on page 3. In addition to all of the scheduled programming listed in this catalog, we can set up a wide array of business, supervisory, leadership, team building, computer application and safety courses. Some can lead to other industry–recognized certifications (such as OSHA or SHRM). We continue to be the only Midwest satellite of the Houston Area Safety Council for ARSC–reciprocal contractor badging of The Basic Orientation Plus® and its refresher. And, for busy HR departments, call about Job Assessment Services, which evaluate for over 800 job roles, and can include criminal background checks, identity or Social Security verifications and initial drug screening as needed. In case a group of friends or a firm wants a particular course not scheduled, please let us know. We have more than 3,000 titles and can customize them. For questions about any type of professional or job–related offerings, please call (618) 468–5785. For swim, dance, hobby or personal enrichment, please call (618) 468–5701. We look forward to speaking with you.

This is an award–winning, research–based language and early literacy program built around music. It is taught by Ellen Singh, a Licensed Kindermusik Educator since 2004. Research shows that music improves a child’s memory, cognitive development, learning skills, and ability to express emotion. Music makes a child a better learner, teaches self–control, improves coordination, enhances creativity, and inspires a lifetime appreciation of music and movement. “We provide an in-house leadership training program for our next generation of engineers and surveyors, covering topics such as leadership, project management, business development, and financial management. This year we partnered with L&C to provide a tailored “Foundations of Leadership” class with topics ranging from leadership concepts to “I-Speak” communication to public speaking. Having four engineering offices in the region, we were able to meet at a convenient, central location at the Bethalto campus. We are blessed to have L&C as a corporate training asset right here in our backyard. I checked into higher-cost, nationally recognized training options, but they could not compare to the quality, value, and professionalism that we received from L&C.
