Welcome to Summer 2017 As we approach another summer, I am bursting with excitement over all of the wonderful learning opportunities we have planned for you and your children! There really is something for everyone. As you flip through the pages of this catalog you’ll notice a few changes. We have over 35 half–day classes for kids in a variety of subjects, and they are organized by grade level to make it easier for you to find exactly what you’re looking for. There are returning favorites like Restaurant: Possible, Minecraft© Designers and Magic Camp, along with several brand new choices, including Junior Robotics, Star Wars© Stop Animation, Digital Storytellers, Safari Café and Bat League: Heroes & Villains. For those looking for full day camp options, we’re excited to announce a brand new partnership with the YMCA that brings a full day summer camp to our Godfrey Campus (see page 6 for more details!) And, because everything is in one location, parents have the flexibility to mix and match their child’s schedule to make this the most dynamic summer yet! Adults are also invited to join in on the learning this summer in workshops like Conversation & Canvas, RV Basics and Nia® Fitness. Or, take a much needed day out of the office to brush up your leadership skills or renew your Food Service, OSHA, Flagger or CPR certificate. Be sure to check out page 11 for a brand new course we have on the horizon for vehicle electrification systems. In the midst of backyard barbeques, late nights at the office and family vacations, I invite you to squeeze in a little time to learn something new this summer. Corporate & Community Learning is your learning partner for life and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Horseback Riding Mommy, Me and a Pony!
Saddle Up!
Mommy, Me and a Pony is not just for “mommies.” Any parent, grandparent or guardian is welcome to attend. Adult/child teams will work together as they learn how to brush their horse, put the saddle on and give commands for whoa, go and turn while riding. Riders will expand their experiences to include trot practice and rein handling. Activities include riding bareback (optional) and independent riding in the obstacle course. Riding objective is to walk and trot independently while demonstrating proper riding technique. Riding a horse improves the skills of balance, coordination, forethought, empathy and the control of one’s own emotions. Rocky Branch horses are generous, patient and sweet–natured. Riders will demonstrate their new skills for family and friends on the last day of class and be presented with a rosette ribbon. This is a three–week class with the fourth week free or used as a make–up class.
Six levels to take you from whoa to go! This program takes students from beginner to accomplished equestrian. Each level is a set of building blocks combining riding skills and horse care knowledge. Students will learn how to answer questions like, how much oats do I feed a horse? What’s the difference between hay and straw? How do I clean my horse’s hooves? How to feed an apple to a horse? Riding activities include playing games on horseback, riding bareback, navigating hills and bridges and a life–size riding maze. Parents are welcome to stay and watch from the viewing deck. Riders are welcome to borrow boots and riding helmets. This is a three–week class with the fourth week free or used as a make–up class.
