Summer 2019 Welcome
(618) 468–2310
Remember the joy of the first day of summer break? With school out, the possibilities to do what we wanted seemed endless.
In person. Godfrey Campus 5800 Godfrey Road, Godfrey
Few of us as adults in the workforce get a long summer break, yet most of us are still enthused about summer’s possibilities. Those can include opportunities for professional development, exploring other career options, obtaining a certificate or renewal that increases your employability, and/ or attending a course that expands our knowledge or gives us new management tools and techniques to make our work more effective or efficient.
N.O. Nelson Campus 600 Troy Road, Edwardsville Tri–County Center 100 Lincoln, Route 16, Jerseyville
Please look through this catalog for such possibilities. Also, please remember that if you don’t see a course you need, or if one we offer doesn’t work for your schedule, just call us. For every course listed here, we have many more available, or can create what your firm needs. The listed open enrollment classes are only the beginning. This department can contract to your group or company and provide a custom class instructed where and when you require it. One last possibility to be sure to check out – see page 4 for this semester’s free Expert Chat. Every semester we bring an expert for a no-cost workshop that enables you, our customers, to hear updates on regulations that impact your business or overviews on topics of interest and marketing impact to your organizations. It is our way of thanking you for being a client of Workforce Education, Solutions & Safety Training (WESST), a division of Lewis and Clark Community College. This summer, we are featuring our own Associate Director of Safety, Greg Bock. He is an OSHA–authorized outreach instructor, has certifications in HazMat, Confined Space, CPR/AED/1st Aid/BBP and many others. As a former fire chief, he understands codes that your business site should be in compliance with, and he was deeply involved in emergency response and incident command situations on a local and national level. Many of you have brought Greg to your company for safety training or informally consulted his expertise. This is a chance to hear him overview safety, code, emergency preparedness and risk management challenges that impact most of your firms. There will be ample time for questions and answers, and you will be among a peer group of non-judgmental colleagues who are probably facing similar issues and weren’t sure whom to ask for recommendations or ideas. If you have attended one of these expert chats in the past, you also know we serve a light business breakfast! So, in the busy rush of your work-life, slow down enough to peruse this catalog of possibilities and enjoy again your enthusiasm for summer.

The Expert Chat FREE! Knowing What We Didn’t Know Most of us begin our day much like the one before, with the same priority, to get through our day and make it home safely so we can do it again the next day and the day after that. But what happens at the end of the day when we’re left with more issues than we have answers? If you’re involved with safety, training, emergency response or a host of other related occupations and responsibilities, this probably happens more often than we’d like to admit. If you have an active role in any of this, let’s talk about it, let’s ask the questions that need asked and answered, let’s discuss the big “A” for Accountability and identify the things we didn’t know we didn’t know. My travels have taken me to many exciting places and experiences including work with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, tow boating on the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers, municipal firefighting with the city of Alton for 24 years, life as a volunteer firefighter, response to Hurricane Katrina and now as the associate director of safety programs here at Lewis and Clark Community College. Join us for a light breakfast and Q&A session addressing many of the questions above, as well as any others that may come up. Fri
