AN AFFILIATE OF THE

PROUD SPONSORS OF

LEWISTON ROUNDUP

Dear Rodeo Fans, Dear Rodeo Fans,

It is an honor and a privilege to serve as President of the 90th annual Lewiston Roundup, a milestone event that celebrates the spirit of rodeo and community. As we prepare for another exciting year, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the individuals and organizations that make this event possible.

We couldn't produce this great event without the unwavering support of our local and national sponsors. Their generosity and commitment to the Roundup are truly appreciated. Additionally, our dedicated volunteers deserve special recognition for their tireless efforts in bringing this event to life.

I'm proud to say that last year's event allowed us to give back over $77,000 to local nonprofits, further solidifying the Lewiston Roundup's impact on our community.

This year's event will take place in the Idaho Central Credit Union Outdoor Arena, providing an exceptional venue for our festivities. We're thrilled to host the top contestants from around the world, competing in each event and vying for top honors.

Our theme this year, "Boots Out, Spurs In, We’re Going for 90," captures the essence of our celebration – a nod to our rich history, a showcase of exceptional talent, and a commitment to community. We invite you to join us for an unforgettable experience, as we ride into the next chapter of Lewiston Roundup history.

Each night of the rodeo has a special theme:

Wednesday night is Inland Cellular Extreme Bulls; Thursday night is Clearwater River Casino Family Night; Friday night is Tri-State Health' Tough Enough to Wear Pink; and Saturday night is Peters and Keatts Equipment Patriot Night.

From 1935 to the present day, our mission has remained unwavering: to bring the best PRCA rodeo action to our community and maintain our position as one of the top rodeos in the country. As a proud member of the Big 4, alongside Kennewick, Walla Walla, and Pendleton, we continue to support each other and provide contestants the opportunity to become the Best In The Northwest Big 4 Champion, a prestigious title established in 1948.

Thank you again to our sponsors, volunteers, and supporters. Let's make this 90th anniversary one for the history books!

David Rustebakke David Rustebakke 2024 Lewiston Roundup Grand Marshal

David Rustebakke was born and raised on a wheat and cattle ranch near Scobey, Montana along with two brothers, two sisters, and lots of cattle, horses, dogs, cats, and miscellaneous other animals. He spent his childhood running around the hills and helping on the family farm.

He started school in a one-room country schoolhouse in Four Buttes, Montana, and graduated from Scobey High School in 1965. From there he went to college and graduated with a DVM degree from Washington State University in 1972.

After graduation, he went on active duty as a Captain in the US Army Veterinary Corps in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. It was there he met and married his wife, Karen.

After discharge from the Army, he and Karen moved to Morgan Hill, California where he joined Valley Large Animal Hospital, a 3-man equine practice.

After 4 years they decided that California was not where they wanted to live and raise a family. He ended up applying for an opening at the Lewiston Veterinary Clinic; he joined the practice in the summer of 1979.

He spent the next 20 years with the Lewiston Veterinary Clinic working with people most of us know including Dr. Bob Bryant, Leonard Eldridge, Ray Turner, Doni Wagner, John Hoch, Nick Egland, and Shelly O’Connell.

In the Fall of 1988, he began his career as a dad with the arrival of his and Karen’s

first son Kyle. Robbie joined the family 2 ½ years later. Over the next 20+ years, he faced the challenges most of us face in balancing family and work.

In the Fall of 1999, he took a break from clinical practice and went to work for a private research group in Moscow, ID. While there he worked part-time with the University of Idaho team that developed the first-ever equine clones; the mules Idaho Gem, Utah Pioneer, and Idaho Star.

In May of 2001, he returned to practice in the LC Valley. He rented a small barn from Jim Bunch in the Clarkston Heights which served as the home of Rustebakke Veterinary Service for the next 8 years. He was joined by Dr. Jessica Bell in 2005.

In the Fall of 2009, he moved the practice to its present location on 15th Street in Clarkston. The practice continued to grow and by the end of 2022 employed 5 veterinarians and 25 support staff.

He is a long-time member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, and Idaho Veterinary Medical Association; several local horse and livestock organizations, and the LC Chamber of Commerce. He served on the board of

the Idaho Vet Medical Association off and on through the 1990s, becoming President of the IVMA in 2001. He was honored as the Idaho Veterinarian of the Year by the IVMA in 1997. The clinic was honored by the LC Chamber of Commerce as the “Small Business of the Year” in 2018.

He has been available to help with educational seminars for local youth groups including schools, career fairs, 4-H, FFA, and Boy Scouts. He and his clinic have been long-time supporters of the area fairs, the Lewiston Roundup, local cattlemen organizations, and other animal-related activities. He has been the veterinarian for the Chief Joseph Trail Ride since 2004.

He sold the clinic to Alpine Animal Hospital in Pocatello, Idaho at the end of 2022, and has agreed to remain on staff till he gets old enough to retire. He lives in the Clarkston Heights with his wife Karen and youngest son Robbie, a dog and cat, and several horses.

Queen Tabitha Neville Queen Tabitha Neville 2024 Lewiston Roundup Royalty

The 2024 Lewiston Roundup Queen is Tabitha Neville. She is the twenty-yearold daughter of Joyce and Chuck Neville. Tabitha started high school in Wenatchee, Washington and finished those years in Troy, Idaho. She resides on her family’s horse ranch where they breed and sell quarter horses. She is currently working on pursuing a career in agriculture, with a strong passion for photography and advocacy.

Some of her outstanding achievements include placing first in Washington with her FFA horse evaluation team in 2018 and going to nationals in Indianapolis. She has also placed first in Idaho with her team, and second individually for FFA soil evaluation in 2021, competing at nationals in Oklahoma City, along with placing third in Idaho for prepared public speaking in 2022. Her other FFA achievements include placing first in her district for meat evaluation and sales, as well as earning her Idaho FFA degree. Tabitha has also competed at the state level for alto saxophone in solo ensemble, fueled her passion for music with jazz band, and earned her place in the Golden Marching Band

through high school.

Tabitha was inspired by rodeo queens very early in life. She has watched her sister compete in some of the biggest queening pageants and was surrounded by amazing royalty role models. Tabitha held her first title at the age of nine, becoming the Miss Rodeo Washington Sweetheart. Since then, she has been hoping to one day have another opportunity to promote agriculture and rodeo. Tabitha grew up very involved in 4-H, competing in both classic show events and gaming on her first horse, Hickory. Even earlier than her days in 4-H, Tabitha learned to love horses while galloping through the canyons bareback with her godmother and friends.

This year you will get to see Tabitha riding her gorgeous

mare, Miss Tari Mac. Miss Tari came into her life as Neville Performance Horses first broodmare. She is the dam of many of the horses running around their ranch, including Tabitha’s favorite horse, “Big Mac.” Miss Tari has retired from their breeding program and has been proving to be an amazing queening horse. The pair has been working to build on the bond they started during Tabitha’s duties on foal watch. Miss Tari has been truly exceptional in taking everything asked of her and putting her heart into it. The two of them are sure to have a blast this summer.

Tabitha would like to thank her mom, dad, and family for being behind her for every step of this process and pushing

her to become a better version of herself every day. She would especially like to give a huge thanks to her sister, and chaperone, Athena Ells. Athena was the one to show Tabitha the world of rodeo, and has been by her side as a friend, mentor, and everything in between. She wouldn’t be half the woman she is today without her extraordinary big sister. Tabitha would also like to say a special thank you to the Lewiston Roundup Association for the opportunity to represent an amazing event and community, and for making this all possible. Tabitha is beyond excited for the year to come, and cannot wait to see what is waiting down the rodeo road.

WILL RASMUSSEN

A smooth, easy-listening voice, solid knowledge of rodeo, and a style that is both entertaining and informative, are the mix of elements that make Will Rasmussen one of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s most popular Rodeo Announcers. His personal knowledge of the sport, sense of humor, and timing blend together for a quality presentation that enhances the rodeo and satisfies the fans. “I guess it’s my sense that you need more than just a rodeo,” he says. “People want to be entertained.” Will has been the voice of the Lewiston Roundup since 2003.

JJ HARRISON

JJ Harrison grew up in Okanogan, WA where his love for the rodeo began. He took his passion to college with him and joined the rodeo team as a bull and bronco rider at Washington State University. Harrison really established himself in Walla Walla. He was hired for his talents by The Beard Rodeo Company for a bull riding competition in Vancouver. Harrison taught science and social studies at Walla Walla middle school for eight years. After a few years of balancing teaching and rodeo, Harrison was forced to choose between the two. Harrison believes that his time in the classroom has influenced his witty and energetic act as a rodeo clown. What makes Harrison a good rodeo clown is the “off the cuff” stuff and spur of the moment quick wit that are his best attributes.

Stock Contractors

SANKEY PRO RODEO & PHENOM GENETICS

After 30 years in the rodeo business, Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics is exploring new horizons yet again.

Springboarding off his years as a rodeo contestant at the highest level of the sport, Ike Sankey combined what he had learned about rodeo as a business with his livestock skills and work ethic to create his vision of a rodeo company. Focusing not only on quality livestock, but also event production and spectator experience, Sankey Rodeo Company flourished.

Over the years the company has been blessed with 4 Saddle Bronc of the Year PRCA awards, 12 PRCA Stock Contractor of the Year nominations and numerous PRCA and Montana Circuit awards. Additionally, Sankey Rodeo Company livestock is featured annually at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and have been featured on ESPN, USA Today, Western Horseman and CMT.

Over $225,000 is won on Sankey Rodeo Company livestock annually. In 2018 Sankey Pro Rodeo was awarded the prestigious “Remuda Award,” recognizing them as the predominant herd of bucking horses in the PRCA.

A family affair from the start, in 2013 Ike and Roberta welcomed son, Wade, and daughter, Ryan, in as full partners and, in 2018 Sankey Rodeo Company joined forces with renowned bull producers, Phenom Genetics.

Phenom Genetics was founded by Matt Scharping in 2007, but his isn’t your typical bull business story. Matt grew up on a small farm in Arlington, Minn., and after a successful career in the tool business, he began raising and hauling bulls full time in 2013. He partnered with former Minnesota Viking Jared Allen on Jared Allen’s Pro Bull Team, and bought out Allen in January 2018. These days, Phenom Genetics raises and

trains young bulls for bull competitions, and hauls bulls to PBR and PRCA events as well. Their stable of bulls includes PBR headliners Air Time and Magic Train, as well as four-time PBR Finals bull CBR World Champion Bucking Bull Hy Test.

Matt credits all of his success to hard work and the help of his family: wife Kelly, and children Lacey, Kameron, Kolten and Kiri, as well as his hired man, Cody Stinson, who is a huge part of the business.

Combining the legacy of Sankey Rodeo Company’s outstanding bucking horses with Phenom Genetics’ world class bulls and a committed focus on fast paced, exciting, family entertainment, Sankey Pro Rodeo is poised to expand the concept of what rodeo can be.

Bullfighters Bullfighters

BEAU SCHUETH

The Lewiston Roundup Association is proud to announce Beau Schueth as our newest bullfighter to the 90th annual Lewiston Roundup. Beau is a national bullfighter who grew up in O’Neill, NE. Rodeo had been something he wanted to do since he grew up watching the Clearwater Rodeo. When most young men want to join the rodeo circuit, they hop on a horse and start roping or they get on a bronc or bull and hold on for eight seconds. Schueth decided that while he still wanted to compete in rodeo, neither roping nor riding was a good fit. Beau Schueth, of O’Neill, decided to take the bull by the horns and become a bullfighter.

CLAY HEGER

NATE JESTES

Nate was always drawn to the family ranch and the small farming community where his closest friends were from. Nate pursued his childhood dream of Aviation and graduated from Montana State University with an Associates Degree in Aviation Technology. During college, Nate was instilled with another life-long passion of Bullfighting. Nate was accepted into the PRCA and his career quickly accelerated. Throughout the last couple of years, Nate has had the opportunity to work and protect cowboys at some of the biggest rodeos in the industry. In 2016 and 2017 Nate was selected by the top 20 bull riders to protect them at the Wrangler National Finals.

The Lewiston Roundup Association is proud the LC Valley and Asotin local Clay Heger is returning to the 90th annual Lewiston Roundup. Clay left home to pursue his passion as a bullfighter. Clay says “I’ve had many great opportunities in my career and have been blessed enough to be selected to work the RAM Southeastern Circuit Finals Rodeo multiple times, as well as the Ram Texas Circuit Finals Rodeo multiple times.”

“It’s also been an honor to make the National Finals Rodeo short-list, as well as being nominated as Top Five Bullfighters of the Year - the past six years! I’m very excited to come home and fight bulls at the Lewiston Roundup, a rodeo that helped grow my passion for the sport of rodeo!”
