DRuby J. Dunlap

Ruby J. Dunlap, 85, of 13597 Weiler Road, Huntingdon, Jackson Township, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023 at her home.

Born September 26, 1937 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Jean (Bollinger) Dickson. She was the last of her immediate family.

Ruby is survived by children Douglas E. Dunlap of Huntingdon and Jeffrey L. Dunlap of Shirleysburg; grandchildren Jennifer Dunlap, Joey Wenrick, Jessica Glover, and seven great-grandchildren.

She graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1957 and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas in Huntingdon in 2001 after 27 years of service.

In earlier years, she enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, going to the family camp “Dit In”, hunting and fishing.

Her funeral was held on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Morris officiating. The burial took place at the Green Lee Cemetery following the service. Her viewing was held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home, Belleville.

‘Butch’ Ford Jr.

Gerald E. “Butch” Ford, Jr., 75 of Newport, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his home.

Born July 16, 1947, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Gerald E. and Geraldine E. (Barton) Ford, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon (Perry) Ford, whom he married Dec. 31, 1966; five children, Michele Auxt (Gary), of Duncannon, Patricia Hostler (Arch), of Newport, Lynette Yohn (Tim), of Mifflintown, Jonathan Ford, of Newport and Pat Ford, of Newport, eight grandchildren, Scott Hostler (Emily), Victoria Williams (Lamar), Nicole Hostler, Shania Graybill (Zack), Aimee Yohn, Ashley Yohn, Skyler Robinson (Maverick) and Luke Auxt and one great-granddaugh- hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Butch was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from March of 1966 to March of 1970.

He retired from AT&T as an operations manager.

He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, New Bloomfield and the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and catching up with friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 12, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 811 Shermans Valley Road, New Bloomfield, PA 17068 with Rev. Robert Sharman officiating.

Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery Mifflintown where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

There was a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown and from noon until the time of the services Friday at the church. There was a Knights of Columbus service.

In 1954, Shirley married the love of her life, Donald Freed. Their hearts became intertwined, and together they built a loving family. Although Donald preceded her in death, their bond remains unbroken, and they are now reunited for eternity.

A devoted mother, Shirley poured her heart and soul into raising her three children. Shirley’s love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of nieces, nephews, and close friends who held a special place in her heart. Shirley is survived by her three children, Wanda Tate Bailey, Debora Franklin, and Christopher Freed and their spouses; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, and 2 step great-great grandchildren, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She will also be fondly remembered by her extended family and friends.

Susan C. Glavach

Susan C. Glavach, 78, of Longs, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Born on Feb. 9, 1945, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Forrest and Irene Gutelius. She is survived by her son, Kevin Glavach (Victoria); daughter, Janine Cawthorne (John); brother, Tommy Gutelius; grandchildren, Rebecca Cawthorne (Oliver), Zach- ary Cawthorne, Andrew Shepherd; extended family, Brian Johnson; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Donald Glavach; sister, Doris Yarevitz and granddaughter, Samantha Cawthorne. Susan cherished each moment spent with her beloved family and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, going out on the Big “M” Casino Boat and just having fun. David Miller Gutshall

On May 20, 2023, David Miller Gutshall, 74, of Lewistown, went home to the arms of Jesus and to share a joyful reunion with his loved ones.

He was the son of Ralph and Erma (Martin) Gutshall, who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Gregory Gutshall.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Gutshall, of Texas, and Richie Gutshall, of York, and many cousins.

He graduated from West York High School in 1966 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970, receiving an hon- in 1967 as a founding member of the Leopold, Gardner, Creighton Clinic, that later became a part of the Geisinger Medical Group, retiring in 1995.

David owned his own taxi. He served the Baltimore area for many years and enjoyed eating the local seafood. He also liked working crossword puzzles and playing pool.

A viewing was held from 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2023, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Bob Marsh officiating.

Interment with military honors took place at a later date at Mount Rose Cemetery in York.

He was a charter diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice in 1972, he served as president of the Mifflin/Juniata Medical Society and chairman of the family practice department at Lewistown Hospital. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association.

Harry W. Gardner

Harry W. Gardner, M.D., 92, of Lewistown, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Valley View Haven Retirement Community in Belleville.

Born October 31, 1930, in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Victor A. and Sara (Waddell) Gardner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, his bride, Margie P. (Pearch) Gardner on May 21, 2022; and his beloved grandson, Harry W. Gardner III.

Harry is survived by his children, Patricia A. Gardner, and husband Frank C. Welsh, Jr., Linda K. Gardner and husband Kurt M. Packer, and Harry W. Gardner, Jr.; and grandchildren, Jack E. Packer, and Mitchell W. Gardner.

He honorably and faithfully served his country in The United States Navy.

Dr. Gardner was an alumnus of Washington and Jefferson College, and earned his medical degree in 1957 from the University of Pittsburgh. His 37-year career in medicine began

Harry would often say he lived a great life. He was married 67 years to the love of his life, he enjoyed a wonderful relationship with his three children as well as his adored three grandsons. Harry loved practicing family medicine and spoke often of the exceptional people he had the opportunity to work with and the many patients who entrusted their care to him. In his free time, Harry loved to golf and was a skilled woodworker cial aunt, Rosalie Wilt; uncle, Brett Fisher and wife, Lisa; cousin, Brett Fisher Jr., all of Lewistown; significant other, Mary Gallo, of McConnellsburg; and her best friend, Cheyenne Chance, of Lewistown.

The celebration of his life and mourning of his passing was private and at the convenience of the family.

His family would like to thank the staff at Valley View for the special care and compassion shown to their father during his stay.

Sheila M. Hoffman, 82, of McClure, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at her home.

Born on March 29, 1941, in Middleburg, she was a daughter of the late John Dunkleberger.

A visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with a funeral service following at 11 a.m., with Pastor Kathy Mercado officiating.

Interment was held at Samuels Church Cemetery.

Sharon E. Hartsock, 75, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at her home.

Born on October 22, 1947, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Eugene R. and Catherine (Dobson) Craig.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus L. Hartsock, and her siblings, Deborah Shifflet, Arthur Wagner, Jr., and Larry Craig.

Sharon is survived by 3 children, Kimbra Amey and husband, David, of Lewistown, Tonnya Sullivan and husband, Donald, of Lewistown, and Troy Hartsock and wife, Angela, of Lewistown; nine grandchildren, Chad Amey and wife, Ali, Ty Amey and wife, Heather, Noel Heisler and husband, David, Ava Pearce and husband, Timmy, Tara Bush and husband, Caleb, Trey Hartsock and wife, Ali, Ta- sia Sullivan-Wagner and husband, Shawn, Tarynn Sullivan, and Drayson Sullivan; and 20 great grandchildren, Madisyn, Reagan, Noah, Sienna, and Harper Amey, Brayden, Jace, and Brianna Heisler, Carter Smith, Sawyer Wagner, Daxtyn Snook, Landon Marks, Asher, Kenzli and Piper Pearce, Jovi, Cohan, Theo, and Milo Bush, and Ginger Hartsock; and siblings, Marlene Anderson and husband, George, of McVeytown, and Terry Craig and wife, Rayna, of Linglestown.

She was a member of Lewistown Assembly of God Church. She loved her church family dearly, and enjoyed attending while she was able.

Hospital as a custodian, and lastly, at Fisher Bro’s as a bus driver. Most of all, Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her family, and spending time with them.

A private memorial service was held at the convenience of the family.

Larry E. Hagan

Larry E. Hagan, 77, of Greenwood Village, formerly from 23 Goss Terrace, passed away on May 24, 2023, at Greenwood Village.

He was born Jan. 6, 1946, in Lewistown, to the late Richard and Mildred (Leeper) Hagan. He married Joyce Hagan who preceded him in death on April 3, 2009.

He was survived by step-daughter, Joanne Carter, of Burnham.
