Kore was a lifelong dairy farmer and was a taxi driver for the Amish following his retirement.

He was a member of the Valley View Amish Mennonite Church.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Florida. He also enjoyed singing and listening to music as well as fishing and going to Alan Seager and having picnics with the family.

His funeral was held on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Valley View Amish Mennonite Church with Earl Peachey and Matthew Peachey officiating. Burial was at the Locust Grove Cemetery. His family received friends and a viewing was held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Valley View Amish Mennonite Church.

Mona E. Zeigler

Mona E. Zeigler, 66, of Strodes Mills, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, after a courageous year-long battle with acute myeloid leukemia.

Born Feb. 15, 1957, in State College, she was the daughter of the late Harry Zeigler and Rose (Breon) Heck.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Chelsea, and a brother, Harry “Chuck” Zeigler Jr.

Surviving are: Mona’s partner of 32 years, Mark Boreman, of Strodes Mills; children, Jack Wessels and wife, Bailey, of Dry Valley, and Amanda Kane and fiance, Ryan Shade, of Mount Union. Mona’s true pride was her grandchildren, who could never do anything wrong, Gracelyn, Avalyn, Kaybrie, Hudson, Rylan and Ryatt, with baby Roman to arrive soon.

Also surviving are: siblings, Mike Zeigler and wife, Holly, of Wingate, Joan Williams and husband, Ron, of Lamar, and Joy Zeigler, of Renovo; brother-in-law, Steve Boreman, of Lewistown; sisters-in-law, Sandy Ritter and husband, Bobby, of McClure, and Pam Fortuna and husband, Chip, of Alfarata; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

Mona was extremely grateful and fortunate to have Pam and Joan by her side and at her bedside throughout her entire battle.

Mona graduated from State College High School in 1975.

She worked in retail for over 40 years at Hills, Jamesway and Walmart, and lastly, at Alltrista Plastics, Reedsville, into 2022 until her leukemia illness.

She enjoyed flea markets, reading and Hallmark movies, but her greatest joys were events involving the grandkids, and the more of them at one time the better.

Her furbaby cats, Leo and Ozzy, were tremendously spoiled by Mona and are already missing her.

At Mona’s request, there were no visitation or services at that time. A Celebration of Mona’s Life was held at a later date.

Winona L. ‘Winnie’ Zeiders

Winona L. “Winnie” Zeiders, 83, of Mifflintown, died Sunday, April 30, 2023, at her home in Denholm. Born Oct. 20, 1939, in Mifflin, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Dorothy C. (Graham) Beers.

Her husband, of 62 years, Forest Neil Zeiders, Sr., whom she married Oct. 27, 1955, died Jan. 31, 2018. She is survived by three children, Kimberly Welshonse and companion, Tony Guide, of Mifflintown, Forest N. Zeiders, Jr. and wife, Eleanora, of Lewistown, and Jeffrey W. Zeiders, of Mifflintown, four grandchildren, Steven Welshonse and wife, LuWanda, Christina Callahan and husband, Lawrence, Jennifer Whitesel and husband, Gary, and Doug Zeiders and wife, Morgan, four great-grandchildren, Kaylin Welshonse, Ethan Whitesel, Benjamin Zeiders, Gabe Welshonse, and one on the way very soon, three siblings, Elenore Gingrich, Dora Solt, and Barry Beers, and her many loving pets.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frederick Beers and one son-in-law, Scott Welshonse.

Winnie was a homemaker and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed quilting, reading, trout fishing, crocheting, cross stitch, and plastic canvas needlepoint.

Her graveside service and interment was at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Cemetery, Licking Creek Valley, with Pastor Mindy Petrovcic officiating.

There was a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, at Guss Funeral Home, Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown. Memorial contributions may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 109 N. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059. Condolences may be left at www.gussfh.com.

Darothea ‘Dot’ J. Zeiders

Darothea “Dot” J. Zeiders, 91, of Denholm, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 15, 1932, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Clara (Cree) Kennedy.

She is survived by three sons, Colin Zeiders, Rodney Zeiders and Randy Zeiders, all of Mifflintown, one step-daughter, Deb Berry and husband, Carl, of East Waterford, two grandchildren, Christopher Berry and Cyris Zeiders, and one sister, Winnie Borhman.

Her husband of 63 years, Karl D. Zeiders, whom she married Sept. 11, 1957, passed away on Dec. 16, 2020.

Also preceding her in death were one grandson, Matthew Berry, five brothers, Bill Kennedy, Clarence “Son” Kennedy, Jr., Jay Kennedy, Preston “Pep” Kennedy, and Rob-
