The boxes were filled with about twenty pieces of artwork that represented the different programs offered at the college. Pieces were printed as different items, such as posters, buttons & stickers.

What is ArtBox is a subscription box that ran from 2018 through 2019. It was created by a student-run team at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. They created a project where the whole school could participate. Students, teachers, faculty, and alumni were all encouraged to submit.

mission statement ArtBox is a subscription box service filled with art created and submitted by members of the NHIA community, curated bimonthly by a dedicated team with a goal of celebrating all kinds of artists. The company features artists through publication in the box, on our website, and on our social media. Every semester a new box comes out with a unique theme. Each box is designed by students on the ArtBox team with a theme in mind. The work submitted for each box follows the same theme. The standard ARTBOX is filled with prints, posters, postcards, buttons, pins, magnets, booklets, stickers, and more, to no cost to the artists. These boxes are for sale directly at NHIA, or on

finance The New Hampshire Institute of Art had a budget for student activities and clubs, accessable by students through an application. With some preliminary research, the team was able to determine they needed roughly $1000 to put out fifty boxes for sale, and gift each featured artist a free box. We submitted our preliminary research along with our goal to the school, and were allotted $1500 to run the project for the semester. If we were successful in our sales, we would be approved for a second grant for the following semester.

The branding needed to support our goal of accessability and openness. Our designers selected fiendly colors that wouldn’t overpower the artwork we were sharing and a contemporary type pairing that would grab our audience’s attention. The original conversation of a mascot wasn’t anything serious, until Gaby Verdooren drew who is now Buster, our delivery dog. Nothing seemed to be more fitting for our upbeat and supportive project than a labrador who brings the art right to you.

The logo is constructed of a modified Futura. The positive and negative space is meant to play on the concept of a box, and to fit with the open, geometric graphics.

social media Our online pressence was key in gathering submissions from artists. Advertising what events we would be selling at was crucial as well. We would share fun updates from the team, new featured work, prompts that followed the current theme, answer live questions, all to help us better connect with the community.
