Back in the city

The fresh, crisp air with that pinch of cold in your cheeks. The warmth of a few rays of sunshine breaking through the clouds. The sound of leaves rustling around our feet. Nothing compares to a bright fall day in the city – and there’s nothing better than coming back to a toasty house and cuddling up on the sofa. As the days get shorter, we embrace the chill in the air – and wrap ourselves up in comfort at home.

Welcome to OUR PLACE When you live in the city, it’s essential to have a place all your own in which to unplug and unwind. This is a space with your own brand of personal style – carefully created with pieces that are both comfortable and refined. It’s your own private getaway – a place to escape the buzz of big city life right outside your door.

A room FOR LIVING Elegant and subdued, this is a room that’s grand enough for social occasions, comfortable enough for everyday living, and quiet enough for just being on your own. It’s a warm, welcoming place that invites you to curl up with a book by the fire or enjoy a bottle of wine with friends – with comfortable seating for everyone.

Decorating with DETAILS Time spent indoors is made even better when the living room is personalized with blankets and shams in your favorite colors and materials. A subdued palette of gray, rust, petrol, blue and crisp white is modern and warm, with classic checks and stripes adding a slightly masculine touch. A few doses of texture, like braided rattan and rustic wood, help tie everything together.

Creating your WORKSPACE

The perfect light, your favorite chair, and everything exactly where you want it – now this is a space that makes a workday spent at home a productive one. Warm, vibrant cushions and throws contrast with metallic office accessories to create a comfortable space where the creativity just flows.

AN INSPIRING HOME OFFICE Organized just the way you want it, your desk is where it all comes together. Your mind is calm as you sit here, free to gaze at the sunlit city and the orange leaves below. How could you feel anything but inspired when seated here?

Just add a few COZY SHAMS An old, favorite couch gets an instant upgrade with the help of polished and colorful textiles. Bold stripes in red and white look sharp next to pillows with soft cream, rust and gray hues. They give one of our favorite pieces a needed dose of contemporary style.

At home in THE KITCHEN This is where many of the best things in life happen: lazy breakfasts, culinary adventures, and late-night dinner parties. Whether it’s sharing a bowl of granola in the early daylight, making sandwiches for a weekend road trip, or pouring a glass of wine before unwinding for the night, the kitchen is the heart of the house.

Fall dining

This is where our friends, family and neighbors gather to eat great food, tell stories and make each other laugh. But as much as we love the actual dinner party, the preparations – like choosing the menu or lovingly setting the table for our guests – is just as fun.

THE DINNER TABLE IS SET The food is the main attraction, of course, but we love the details too. Woven rattan placemats, crystal clear glass bottles and sparkling cutlery create just the right mood when you’re about to dig in.

Great chefs need great tools. An acacia cutting board mixes beauty and function, a reliable companion that ages with grace through all of your kitchen adventures.

A joyful space One of our favorite places in the house is this quiet corner in the kitchen. It’s where we bring our morning coffee to ease slowly into the day, read up on the latest recipes on a lazy afternoon, or savor a quiet moment whenever the mood strikes.

Backyard hangout

One of the luxuries of having our own little backyard in the midst of the bustling city is that we get to make the most of those unexpected, warm days in the fall. Throw on a dark denim apron and prep for dinner in the cool air, enjoying the last of the afternoon rays.

The master BEDROOM The master bedroom is where things get seriously luxurious. Inspired by that peaceful feeling you get in the world’s best hotels, it’s the place to indulge. And the best way to that is with premium bedding. Sateen sheets and duvet covers in subdued stripes and necktieinspired patterns look sharp, wash after wash, while poplin pillowcases in shades of blue will stay soft yet crisp forever. It’s a mixed and matched style with a slightly masculine and modern twist.

A Comfy BATHROOM A long, hot bath is a calming and private luxury we indulge in as often as possible. And the best thing about stepping out of it is swaddling ourselves in cotton towels made of the thickest, richest terrycloth. Then we move onto a plush velour bathrobe that’s so smooth, soft and warm, we never want to take it off. And we don’t – for a while.

PREMIUM ESSENTIALS From the hairbrush we use every day to the lingering scent of our favorite fragrance, those personal details are key in the bathroom. Plush terrycloth towels in rich hues stand out and bring a luxurious character to the space. Folded neatly in a perfect stack or casually draped over the edge of the bathtub, these thick and soft jewel-toned towels add a bit of color to your day when the skies outside are gray.

There’s something in the air – classic, elegant scents that are full of character, yet feel timeless and fresh. We like warm musk and woody tones topped with bergamot and peach for that cozy feel on a cool day. Or citrus notes and aromatic herbs when we want to imagine that the ocean is not that far away.

Fall elements

Classic blues and whites always look right at home in the city. This season, dark denim, lots of gray, and a rich, rusty red join them, bringing a calming feel to every room. Lounge around in throws knitted from warm woolblends, and cotton flannel bedding that has been brushed on both sides for extra softness. Necktie-inspired patterns also mix with stripes and checks for an effect that’s both masculine and urban.

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS Fall in the city calls for the comforts of home, and there’s no shortage of those here. A favorite lamp, the homey scents of something baking in the oven, a crackling log fire, and lush blankets for those quiet nights in – these are the things we love most.

Our favorite way to while away a brisk fall afternoon is with a stroll through the neighborhood, chasing those glimpses of warm sunlight. Our second favorite is coming home to a warm fire and to a sofa draped with a soft and supple throw.

Warming

TERRY CLOTH Few things feel more luxurious than a thick terry cloth towel. This is the season to pick a classic solid hue like white, navy or gray. Or be a bit bold and choose autumn’s new stripes in aqua and light blue, red and orange, or the more subtle beige and black.
