CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITY
W OV E N As the population ages, the need for inclusive and inviting retirement communities increases. Our challenge is to create a community that gives them everything they need and more, to continue their lives while giving them more opportunities to explore, be involved, and try new things.

We have designed an adaptable post-pandemic emergency department to provide mental health resources and area of refuge once Covid-19 has dissipated.

71%
of students indicated increased stress and anxiety due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
91%
of students reported negative impacts of the pandemic: difficulty in concentrating, etc.
Financial stress, new realities, health concerns, political turmoil, fear of the unknown, familyrelated stress, social isolation, shortages of resources

S I T E E VA L U AT I O N We visited multiple sites, from empty lots to dense forest. All four of us were amazed by the n a t u r a l b e a u t y o f t h e Ve e n k e r Memorial Golf Course. The unedited photos to the right show the view across the golf course and the prairie grasses adjacent to the land. The valley of the golf course is a flood zone, though the rising topography allows for scenic views of Ames’ landscape.

Though our site is located in urban St. Louis, we pulled calmnig hues and textures from M i s s o u r i ’s n a t u r a l l a n d s c a p e . Pulling the relaxing environment inwards with warm tones and community spaces, we encourage interaction between users. Coming together to flourish, we will nest spaces to merge not only natural elements but residents as well. With durability and dignity in mind, o u r u n i t s w i l l n o u r i s h e a c h u s e r.
