lexis ruroden My name is Lexis Ruroden and I am a junior in Iowa State’s Interior Design program. I am interested in pursuing commercial or higher education interior design because of my passion for discovering and enhancing a connection between people. I seek to understand more about the relationship between people and space; how one affects the other.

RETAIL + RESTAURANT ECO & BEE CO.

FALL 2019 REVIT - PHOTOSHOP- SKETCHUP partner: lilah mares

eco & Bee co. Eco and Bee Co., a company that promotes a sustainable lifestyle through eco-friendly products, uses a combination of geometric and natural forms to parallel nature. The contrast between the geometric honeycomb pattern and the fluidity of honey will emphasize the symmetry of the spatial organization in the building. This will bring harmony to the restaurant and retail space. While implementing colors such as: slate blue, maroon, and deep oranges along with the symmetry of the space, these rich colors will create a sophisticated atmosphere.

Eco

Bee Co.

Eco & Bee Co. strives to be a sophisticated and casual establishment. Offering a variety of coffee and tea beverages, sourcing local honey, and providing small grab and go style snacks, Eco & Bee Co. shows how to implement sustainable practices through materials, products, and dining.

charles and ray eames gallery fall 2018 modeling - hand drafting

charles+ ray eames The intent of this gallery space is to display the works of Charles and Ray Eames in a satisfactory and relaxed environment. Through the use of organic curves and tall glass walls, the airy space establishes a flow, accented by smooth surfaces with clean edges. the two seemingly floating planes of the second floor create a sense of weightlessness, aided by the negative space around them. flow simple smooth curve organic surface light edges float

FREEDOM TO EXPLORE Though the floorplan was predetermined, the space felt empty without a mixture of textures and finishes. In order to encompass the coziness of such an open space, various textures, colors, and patterns are used to embrace one’s natural exploration. Without a fear of color, the space feels inviting due to the warm textures contrasting against the cool, crisp colors. free form textured explore rhythm join unity contrast
