Right Brain Curriculum Public Speaking Vacation
Program | $275 Resident
Famously, Americans' number one fear is public speaking while death only ranks number two. If that's so, this profound fear probably starts at an early age. In our Public Speaking class, we take the fear out of speaking before an audience by getting kids talking in front of a supportive group about things in which they are interested. They write speeches on subjects of their choice and practice delivering them to the assembled students. As the kids practice in this low-pressure environment, they learn skills like standing up tall, using a loud voice, and making eye contact. We also watch famous and not-so-famous public speakers and critique what is successful and unsuccessful in their deliveries. The class concludes with students creating a TV news broadcast in which they serve as anchors.

Forever Fit with Judy Whitney – FREE
This program is funded by a generous grant from the Dana Home Foundation.
On a scale of 1-10, how fit are you? Many times, we blame difficulty bending, walking upstairs, carrying groceries, weight gain, overall fatigue and slowing down as "getting old" rather than being "out of shape." Just as being “out of shape” can happen at any age, getting back “in shape’ can happen at any age too! Whether your goal is to develop strength, build endurance, improve balance, increase flexibility and agility, reduce stress, we can help you. We use modifications and rely on many fitness disciplines to empower each person to succeed. There are three components to this program: individual assessments, group instruction and working one -to-one with an expert Personal Trainer, skilled in determining the best way to achieve mutually agreed upon goals.
Over the past seven years, the Dana Home Foundation has generously offered this program to empower their senior citizens to learn how to become stronger, healthier and more physically fit. This grant has been renewed again due to the recent successes of its participants. We urge you to seriously consider accepting this gift of wellness to empower you to be Forever Fit!
Classes are Monday and Wednesday at 2:15 pm. One to one sessions will be by appointment only. Pre-register to attend an info meeting with Judy Whitney on January 18 at 2:30 pm, in person or via Zoom. Remembering Bodil Nilsson
Our Lexington community recently lost a special person, Bodil Nilsson, who was a long time, beloved member of the Town early morning Bootcamp. She was a participant for many years, and in 2019 she agreed to lead the Bootcamp—a role she continued until this past Spring. Bodil was appreciated for all the time and preparation she put into running the program. Her energy and spirit both inspired and motivated all of the 'Bootcampers' to give their best effort, to ‘make no excuses,’ and most of all to have fun. She led by example with her focused workout, encouraged self-belief and positivity, and always brought smiles with her delightful sense of humor. Bodil brought together a community of morning ‘workout’ friends, she was the center of her family’s world, and she truly cared for every person she touched in life. She will be sadly missed and always remembered.
