DEMONSTRATE FULL HYBRID INTELLIGENCE FULL HYBRID TECHNOLOGY, ZERO EMISSIONS CAPABILITY In 2004, we introduced Lexus Hybrid Drive to the world and, at present, we’re still the only luxury car manufacturer to offer a comprehensive range of hybrid vehicles.

However, hybrid technology can vary from one car manufacturer to another. Generally, there are two types of hybrid vehicles: mild hybrids and Full Hybrids. In mild hybrids, the petrol or diesel engine is usually the major power source, while the electric motor merely assists the engine. In the more advanced Full Hybrids, like the CT 200h, the combustion engine and electric motor work alongside each other, seamlessly. All Lexus hybrids not only start off using electric power alone, but can also be driven almost silently in EV (Electric Vehicle) zero emissions mode. At Lexus, all our hybrid vehicles are Full Hybrids.

HOW DOES LEXUS HYBRID DRIVE WORK?

START UP, DRIVING OFF When starting off, the electric motor can propel the CT 200h up to 45 km/h, with electric power being supplied from the hybrid battery. At this point the vehicle is almost silent, uses no petrol and produces zero emissions.

NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS At speeds above 45 km/h the advanced petrol engine cuts in, almost silently, but still receives assistance from the electric motor when required. Through the near perfect distribution of its dual power sources, the CT 200h provides exceptional driving comfort – together with lower emissions and fuel consumption.

FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION Accelerate powerfully and the 82 DIN hp electric motor instantaneously supplements the 1.8-litre petrol engine. This delivers a surge of torque to provide powerful linear acceleration precisely when you need it.

DECELERATION, STOPPING, BRAKING When decelerating or coming to a halt, the petrol engine turns off, cutting emissions to zero. Brake, or take your foot off the accelerator, and regenerative braking harnesses the kinetic energy lost in other cars. It converts this into electrical energy for storage in the hybrid battery, which is one reason why you never need to recharge a Lexus Full Hybrid.

DON’T MAKE A NOISE, MAKE A DIFFERENCE ECO / EV MODE: RELAXING ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE With the drive mode selector on the centre console you can easily adjust the CT 200h to match your driving mood: for a smooth, efficient drive, ECO and NORMAL modes use the petrol engine to achieve higher speeds and blend in electric power, with air conditioning power lowered to increase economy in ECO mode. Select EV (Electric Vehicle) mode and Lexus Hybrid Drive provides an almost silent drive up to 45 km/h, using no petrol and emitting zero CO2 or NOX. In EV, ECO and NORMAL modes the instruments and cabin lighting take on a blue colour, while the ecometer helps you drive more efficiently.

ACCELERATE CHANGE SPORT MODE: EXCITING DRIVING PERFORMANCE If you’re in the mood for a dynamic drive, select SPORT mode and the CT 200h immediately retunes the throttle input for more direct acceleration, increasing battery power from 500 to 650 volts. SPORT mode also adjusts the Electric Power Steering, Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control for a more lively drive. You’ll also notice how the ecometer changes into a tachometer to display engine revs – and how the instruments and overhead cabin lighting turn a sporty red.

CELEBRATE NEW LUXURY ELECTRONIC AIR CONDITIONING, FRONT SEAT HEATERS For a pleasant interior climate, the CT 200h’s highly efficient air conditioning unit supplies clean air quietly and evenly throughout the cabin, with independent left and right temperature control. Powered by the hybrid battery, the electronic air conditioning in the CT 200h can operate without the engine running. This improves fuel economy compared to non-hybrid vehicles, which use petrol or diesel engine power to run the air conditioning. For your health and wellbeing, cabin air is also ďŹ ltered to reduce pollen, dust and diesel soot from other cars. And, for added comfort in winter, optional electric front seat heaters are available. These too are powered by the hybrid battery.

The lower, Operation Zone, is designed for effortless operation of the ergonomic gearshift lever and Remote Touch. As easy to use as a computer mouse, Remote Touch revolutionises the way you interact with the Mark Levinson® or Panasonic® sound systems, Electronic Climate Control and Full Map Navigation. For ease of operation, when the pointer comes close to an icon, it is automatically pulled towards it by a gentle sensory reaction force. Click ENTER and the command is completed.

INTUITIVE, HARD DISK NAVIGATION SYSTEM The new CT 200h has an optional 40 GB hard disk navigation system – one of the fastest, most accurate and intuitive on the market today. The high-resolution 7-inch full-colour display is extraordinarily clear, with crisp and easy to read graphics. You can tell the system where you want to go by address, stored destination or points of interest and, for safety and convenience, everything is controlled by Remote Touch or voice activation. In countries with Dynamic Route Guidance (DRG)*, the device is updated with the latest traffic conditions, such as congestion or delays, and will offer an alternative route. * DRG is available in countries using the RDS radio system. The Traffic Messaging Channel will then enable the use of DRG.

The topof-the-range Mark Levinson® Premium Surround system has 13 bespoke speakers, tailored to the exact acoustic properties of the CT 200h cabin. Delivering 7.1-channel digital surround sound, this system provides a true home-theatre-style experience for enjoying music and watching DVDs. And all CT models are specified with a USB port for connecting multi-media devices, an AUX socket and a 12 V power socket.

CREATE YOUR OWN SPACE INTELLIGENT LUGGAGE FLEXIBILITY The interior of the CT 200h is both extremely luxurious and very practical. With all five seats in the upright position there is 375 litres of boot space. Thanks to the intelligent positioning of the advanced hybrid battery, the rear luggage space is comparable to other compacts and can accommodate luggage for all on board.

Under the carpeted boot floor, a hidden storage box is provided for more valuable possessions like camera or laptop bags. Rear seats split 60/40 or can be folded down completely to give 985 litres of space – useful for transporting bulkier items like skis, snowboards or racing bikes.

RADICAL THINKING PRE-CRASH SAFETY A first for this class of car, the CT 200h can be equipped with our breakthrough Pre-Crash Safety system (PCS). Using millimetre-wave radar to detect objects ahead, and combining this with real time vehicle dynamics, the PCS computer constantly assesses collision risk. If a high risk is calculated, it alerts the driver and then activates Pre-Crash Brake Assist to provide increased brake pressure. If a collision is subsequently deemed unavoidable, PCS engages Pre-Crash Brake to help reduce the collision force. Finally, the Pre-Crash Seatbelt system is activated, which automatically tensions both front seatbelts in the instant before impact.

STRENGTH IN SILENCE CLASS-LEADING SAFETY PERFORMANCE Featuring an energy absorbing body frame, the CT 200h is an extremely safe car to drive and meets the most stringent safety standards. With brake override technology fitted as standard, Electronically Controlled Braking-Regeneration works alongside a range of active safety technologies including Anti-lock Brakes, Brake Assist, Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control. Fitted with eight airbags, sensors react to impact intensity and activate dual-stage driver/front passenger airbags and front side airbags.

Front seat passengers also benefit from knee airbags, while curtain shield airbags protect front and rear doorside passengers. For extra protection, front Whiplash Injury Lessening seats help decrease neck motion in a rear end collision.

EVERY BIT A LEXUS AWARD-WINNING QUALITY In the CT 200h, quality is everywhere: exquisitely finished leather, beautifully grained wood inserts from sustainable plantations, flawless paintwork that shines brighter and longer than on any other compact. Built at our Kyushu plant in Japan, the CT 200h excels with its precision and refinement. Production is performed by highly skilled teams, overseen by Lexus master craftspeople, who rigorously check that quality meets our award-winning standards throughout the manufacturing process. On completion, every car is checked for smoothness and quiet running in our ‘Quiet Dome’ facility, before undergoing a comprehensive final test drive.

BORN OUT OF BELIEF REDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT In addition to having the cleanest and most efficient drivetrain in its class, the CT 200h is also designed to minimise environmental impact. Bio-sourced materials are used extensively: a world first for Lexus, boot linings are made from ‘Ecological Plastic’ containing 30% organic material derived from sugar cane, while indigenous fastgrowing bamboo is offered as a trim option. At the end of its life, up to 85% of the car can be recycled, including the hybrid battery. Production is organised using our world-famous ‘lean manufacturing’ techniques with waste kept to an absolute minimum. Every day the plant’s Aqua Control Centre purifies up to 4,000 tons of water before releasing it back into the eco-system.

1.8-LITRE 4-CYLINDER PETROL ENGINE Featuring Start/Stop capability, Exhaust Gas Recirculation and Variable Valve Timing-intelligent technologies, this ultrasmooth ‘Atkinson Cycle’ petrol engine delivers exceptional fuel efficiency and significantly reduced emissions.

For astonishingly smooth performance and low CO2 emissions from just 87 g/km, the CT 200h orchestrates a combination of super-efficient 1.8-litre petrol engine, high-output electric motor, powerful compact battery, seamless hybrid transmission and power control unit.

HYBRID TRANSMISSION Lexus Hybrid Drive’s electric motor, generator and power split mechanism are all housed in the Hybrid Transmission.

Here, the two forces of Full Hybrid – electrical and mechanical power – are combined using infinitely variable gear ratios to produce seamless performance.

HIGH-OUTPUT ELECTRIC MOTOR The 82 DIN hp electric motor works together with the petrol engine to boost acceleration, and is the sole source of power in EV (Electric Vehicle) mode.

Generating up to 207 Nm of instantaneous and linear torque, the motor is far more powerful than that of mild hybrids.

POWER CONTROL UNIT Located in the engine compartment, the groundbreaking Power Control Unit is the brain of Lexus Hybrid Drive and controls the allocation of power resources to ensure optimum efficiency at all times.

EXHAUST HEAT RECOVERY This compact unit helps warm up the 1.8-litre engine more quickly. Fitted to the exhaust system between the catalytic convertor and silencer, it allows the engine to switch off earlier and more often in cooler weather, leading to a reduction in fuel consumption and emissions.

ADVANCED COMPACT BATTERY Lexus Hybrid Drive features a high-output, nickel-metal hydride 202 V battery controlled by sophisticated energy-management software. Located under the luggage area, without compromising interior space, the battery is constantly recharged by the vehicle’s operation and requires no external charging.

REGENERATIVE BRAKING Especially during braking, but also when cruising, the electric motor acts as a high-output generator, recovering kinetic energy as electrical energy. This charges the hybrid battery for use later when accelerating hard, or driving in EV (Electric Vehicle) mode.

DRIVE MODE SELECTOR The CT 200h has four selectable drive modes. EV mode provides whisper quiet, emission-free progress purely using electric power. ECO and NORMAL modes combine petrol and electric power for relaxed, higher speed driving. SPORT mode delivers a more dynamic driving experience.

AERODYNAMICS The CT 200h has class-leading aerodynamics, thanks to its low bonnet, long roofline and rear spoiler/diffuser/winglets.

A look underneath this breakthrough compact reveals more, with aerodynamic engine/fuel tank covers and surfboard-like fins that provide better stability. This attention to detail not only enhances dynamic performance and handling, but also improves fuel efficiency and reduces wind noise.

DOUBLE WISHBONE REAR SUSPENSION The double wishbone/trailing arm rear suspension, developed specially for the CT 200h, delivers outstanding road holding, refined cornering agility and superb straight-line stability. More complex to manufacture than strut-based alternatives, its compact design encroaches less into the rear luggage space.

Performance dampers are also available front and rear. These absorb fine vibrations, increase ride comfort and create a more precise steering feel.

HILL-START ASSIST CONTROL Hill-start Assist Control maintains brake pressure to help prevent the CT 200h from moving backwards when starting off on a slope. In addition to reducing driver fatigue, Hill-start Assist Control also minimises wheel-spin on slippery inclines.

ELECTRONIC BRAKE-FORCE DISTRIBUTION / BRAKE ASSIST SYSTEM Electronic Brake-force Distribution works with ABS to ensure optimum brake-force is applied to each wheel, according to road conditions. The Brake Assist System comes into action during emergency braking and increases brake-force automatically if required.

TRACTION CONTROL (TRC) TRC increases the CT 200h’s ability to grip the road, especially when starting off or accelerating on uneven or slippery surfaces. Corrective measures are applied the moment the risk of wheel-spin is detected, thereby maintaining traction.

VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) VSC helps prevent the loss of vehicle control, particularly when cornering quickly or at the onset of a skid. Stability is improved and vehicle speed reduced by the selective application of brakes and, or, power reduction.

Optional equipment

PRE-CRASH SAFETY (PCS) PCS uses millimetre-wave radar and an on-board computer to calculate collision risk ahead. If the risk is high it alerts the driver using audible and visual warnings and increases brake pressure. If impact is unavoidable PCS can apply the brakes and tighten the front seatbelts.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC) Using the PCS radar, ACC maintains a set distance between the CT 200h and the vehicle ahead, even if that vehicle varies its speed. Once the road is clear, ACC automatically returns to the originally specified cruising speed.

PASSENGER SAFETY CELL For added safety, the CT 200h has a very strong passenger cell. The car’s main pillars are specially reinforced and high tensile steel has been used strategically throughout. Crumple zones front and rear absorb energy in a crash, as does the steering column, which is engineered to collapse on impact.

EIGHT AIRBAGS The CT 200h is equipped with eight airbags and front seatbelt pre-tensioners. In a collision, impact intensity sensors activate front dual-stage driver/passenger airbags and side airbags accordingly. Front seat passengers also benefit from knee airbags, while curtain shield airbags run the full length of the side windows.

SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION All occupants are well protected from side impacts.

Strengthened A and B-pillars (at the windscreen and in the middle of the car), floor reinforcements and side impact beams absorb and distribute collision energy away from the driver and passengers.

ENERGY ABSORBING MATERIALS Pads in the front footwells help cushion ankles, while the doors are fitted with energy absorbing materials to help protect the waist and abdomen. Extensive padding within the roof lining provides head impact protection.

WHIPLASH INJURY LESSENING SEATS The front seat and headrest design minimise whiplashinducing neck motion in a rear impact. Reinforced side frames let the torso sink into the seatback, while the forward placement of the headrest supports the head more effectively.

TWIN-CHAMBER PASSENGER AIRBAG Crash tests show that the front seat passenger travels further than the driver before hitting the front airbag.

In order to safely ‘catch’ the passenger in a collision, an innovative twin-chamber airbag is fitted.

ISOFIX SEAT MOUNTINGS CT 200h drivers with small children will appreciate the added security of ISOFIX seat mountings. These are used to quickly attach child seats in a safe and secure fashion.

PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION The CT 200h bonnet is optimised to ensure better energy absorption in a collision with a pedestrian. In addition, the windscreen wiper area is designed to help reduce pedestrian injuries in an accident.

DOOR MIRRORS Compact and aerodynamic, the mirror housing seamlessly incorporates a turn signal indicator and a discreetly positioned puddle light. The mirrors are electrically adjustable and can be heated if required.

15" ALLOY WHEELS Lightweight and compact, the 15" alloy wheels are designed to be as aerodynamic as possible. Specified with 195/65 R15 tyres, this wheel and tyre combination contributes to lower CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

16" ALLOY WHEELS Larger 16" alloy wheels, fitted with 205/55 R16 tyres, add a touch of understated elegance to the CT 200h.

The wider wheel and tyre provide extra grip for improved traction.

RAIN SENSING WIPERS A sensor placed above the rear-view mirror detects rainfall, and its intensity, on the windscreen. The wipers are activated automatically as soon as the sensor determines that there is sufficient rain water to clear.

AUTO-FOLDING AND DIMMING The door mirror housings can be folded in to help the driver negotiate narrow spaces and, when parked, there is less risk of damage. The mirrors also dim automatically to prevent the driver from being dazzled by following traffic.

17" ALLOY WHEELS Dynamic 17" alloy wheels, equipped with 215/45 R17 tyres, create a purposeful and sporty impression.

Cast in aluminium they are both strong and light which, combined with the low profile tyres, delivers assured cornering performance.

PARKING SENSORS Discreetly located in the front and rear bumpers, the sensors continuously calculate the distance to the nearest object. Audio and visual warnings alert the driver to the space remaining prior to contact.

HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS Featuring halogen bulbs, the headlight design is modern and impactful. Light Emitting Diode (LED) daytime running lights create a distinctive appearance and ensure the CT 200h is highly visible to other road users.

FRONT FOG LIGHTS Front fog lights provide focused beams of penetrating light aimed at the road surface and verges to help drivers negotiate foggy conditions. Designed to reduce reflective glare, they significantly improve illumination in dense fog.

LED HEADLIGHTS Low-beam Light Emitting Diode (LED) headlights are available for the first time on a luxury compact car. LEDs use less energy, last longer and react more quickly than conventional bulbs.

ACTIVE BRAKE LIGHTS The rear light clusters feature an array of LEDs to ensure the CT 200h is highly visible to following traffic. When braking in an emergency, the brake lights pulse rapidly to provide an effective warning to vehicles behind.

SUNROOF The electric, tilt and slide, glass sunroof lets the desired amount of fresh air and light into the CT 200h. One-touch operation is quick and convenient, while a manually operated sun blind provides shade as required.

REAR SPOILER The rear spoiler manages airflow around the CT 200h and minimises turbulence and wind noise. The integral high brake light features active brake light technology to warn following traffic of emergency braking.

HYBRID BADGE The Full Hybrid CT 200h is one of the most environmentally friendly vehicles available, producing from just 87 g/km of CO2. Bearing all the quality hallmarks of Lexus, the CT 200h is the world’s first Full Hybrid luxury compact.

PRIVACY GLASS The rear side windows and rear window are treated with a reflective tint, which provides rear seat passengers with privacy. This does not, however, restrict the view from inside the CT 200h to the world outside. (Not available in all markets)

SPORTS STEERING WHEEL The high-grip leather sports steering wheel is ergonomically designed and extremely tactile. It integrates switches to control audio and mobile phone, so both hands can be kept on the wheel for more of the time.

STANDARD CENTRE CONSOLE The front centre console is ergonomically designed to let the driver intuitively operate the gear lever and drive mode selector, while the audio and climate systems can be controlled from both front seats.

HEATED FRONT SEATS The driver and front passenger can individually heat their seat to the desired temperature by using the conveniently located rotary dials. Power is provided by the hybrid battery. (Not available in all markets)

LEATHER SEATS Elegant and refined, fine leather upholstery immediately creates a special ambience in the interior of the CT 200h.

UPGRADED CENTRE CONSOLE This features a 7" Electro Multi-Vision screen operated via Remote Touch. The full-colour screen displays navigation, parking assist and other systems such as audio, climate and hybrid energy monitor.

ELECTRIC SEAT ADJUSTMENT The driver’s seat is electrically adjustable using switches located on the side of the seat base. Eight adjustment options help give the perfect seating position. There are also lumbar support and memory settings.

CLIMATE CONTROL The cabin of the CT 200h can be rapidly cooled or warmed as desired using powerful, dual-zone, electronic climate control. Uniquely, the system can be powered exclusively by the hybrid battery, without the engine running.

LED INTERIOR LIGHTS Discreetly integrated and positioned above the front seats, interior Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights illuminate the centre console in either red or blue, depending on the driving mode selected.

ELECTRIC WINDOWS One-touch operation controls the lift/ lower of all four windows by the driver, with the closing speed reduced for the last 110 mm. Each passenger can operate their window, while the driver has the option to engage child locks if required.

REAR SEAT COMFORT The long wheelbase, wide stance and extended roofline ensure ample leg, elbow and head room for all rear passengers. The outer seats are contoured for comfort, while all seats have a 3-point seatbelt.

REAR SEAT FLEXIBILITY The rear seats can be folded down individually (60/40) or together. Heavy objects can be secured via tethering points and an extra compartment, concealed beneath the cargo floor, is useful for hiding away valuable items.

LUGGAGE SPACE With the rear seats upright there is enough space for two large suitcases.

Folding down the rear seats creates a virtually flat storage area and more than doubles the load capacity – ideal for bulkier items.

POWER START BUTTON For a ‘key-less’ start, just press POWER and the electric motor instantly comes to life. Then depress the accelerator for immediate power delivery. The drive is near silent, creates zero emissions and no fuel is consumed when in EV mode.

CRUISE CONTROL Select a preferred cruising speed and the CT 200h maintains it without further driver input. Braking or accelerating causes the cruise function to be cancelled, but it can be re-activated at the touch of a button.

PARKING MONITOR With reverse gear engaged, live images of the area behind the CT 200h appear in a section of the rear-view mirror. The images are relayed via a miniature camera located in the tailgate. So reversing into parking spaces is much easier.

OPTITRON INSTRUMENTATION Crisp, white instrumentation with antiglare technology ensures that the main vehicle data is readily assimilated by the driver. The background lighting can switch from blue to red, with the ecometer being replaced by a tachometer.

MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY Specific vehicle data can be viewed using the Multi-Information Display. Data includes average speed, fuel economy and journey time. The driver can customise the settings via the steering wheel mounted controls.

USB PORT AND AUX SOCKET The USB provides a connection for a variety of multi-media devices, including an iPod® or MP3 player.

Once connected, favourite tracks can be played and listened to through the speaker system or headphones.
