V8 EXCITEMENT THE NEW GS F IS POWERED BY A NATURALLY ASPIRATED ENGINE, DEVELOPED ON THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST RACETRACKS. Tested at the gruelling Nürburgring 24-hour race and Pikes Peak Hill Climb in Colorado, this new 5.0-litre V8 engine resets benchmarks for sports performance. Normal aspiration means immediate response, with no lag, and a dramatic sound. The cylinder head and other moving parts are engineered by Yamaha Motorsport (who supplied the LFA supercar’s V10 powerplants) while final assembly takes place at our Tahara plant. In clean room conditions, each engine undergoes rotational balancing and stethoscope tests that result in smooth yet incredibly rapid acceleration. F MARQUE BY LEXUS The Lexus F marque story began in 2007 with the launch of the IS F, a sports sedan with a forgiving nature that allowed motorsport enthusiasts to enjoy the racetrack, regardless of their level of driving skill. Launched in 2010, after a decade of development, the Lexus LFA V10 supercar was designed from the ground up. Raced extensively at the Nürburgring, at events including the gruelling 24-hour race, the LFA incorporated the very latest motorsport technology. This included a high-revving V10 engine, F1-style carbonfibre monocoque construction and powerful carbon-ceramic disc brakes. Praised by Jeremy Clarkson as “The best car I’ve ever driven”, production was limited to 500 units worldwide, with each car hand-assembled at the custom ‘LFA Works’ facility in Japan.

The new RC F sports coupé delivers breathtaking acceleration, and exhilarating high-speed driving – right up to 270 km/h on the racetrack. This latest ‘F model’ was developed at the Lexus technical centre near Fuji Speedway (its toughest curves are depicted in the F marque logo) by the same engineering team that created our legendary LFA supercar and IS F sports sedan. Featuring an extraordinarily rigid chassis, combined with motorsport-inspired aerodynamics and race tuned V8 engine, the new RC F takes performance car aficionados to a new level of driving excitement.

The new GS F is built at our award-winning Motomachi plant by Lexus ‘Takumi’ craftspeople. With at least 25 years of experience, each is an expert at detecting the tiniest imperfections. You’ll sense their amazing skill when you first touch the precision machined aluminium audio controls or beautifully stitched leatherwork. Gleaming paintwork is painstakingly wet sanded by hand to ensure a perfect finish. Before a final test drive, the ‘Takumi’ check each car for smooth running in a ‘quiet room’ using their highly trained ears and a sensitive microphone placed strategically in the cabin.

BREAKTHROUGH ENGINEERING The GS F was developed and perfected by Chief Engineer Yukihiko Yaguchi’s team for all those who love driving, no matter what their level of expertise. Wherever you venture, on the motorway or winding country roads, the car’s driving dynamics can be modified instantly to meet your driving style.

RIGID CHASSIS / SUSPENSION The foundation for the new GS F’s outstanding handling is its high rigidity body. Numerous specialised manufacturing techniques further enhance strength, including body adhesives, laser-screw welding and multi-spot welding. Straight-line and cornering stability are supplied by a multi-link rear suspension setup. A combination of high-tensile steel and die-cast/forged aluminium components keep weight low but ensure vibration-free precision.

V8 ENGINE Hand built and stethoscope tuned, this incredible 5.0-litre V8 engine develops 477 DIN hp and 530 Nm of torque. The cylinder head and all moving parts are designed to provide increased maximum power at higher revs. Thrilling to hear, advanced sound engineering creates a deeply resonant tone up to 3000 rpm, and a higher-pitched roar as revolutions rise above 6000 rpm under hard acceleration.

8-SPEED TRANSMISSION The V8 engine delivers power via an 8-speed Sport Direct Shift sequential transmission with manual override. Select Manual mode and use shift paddles to enjoy rapid sports performance. When paddle downshifting (in just 0.2 seconds) you’ll experience the unique sound of the throttle ‘blipping’ between gears.

DRIVE MODE SELECT Vehicle performance can be fine-tuned using Drive Mode Select. ECO mode reduces emissions and conserves fuel while, for everyday driving, NORMAL provides an ideal balance of power, economy and ride comfort. For enhanced drivetrain responsiveness, simply switch to SPORT S or SPORT S+ mode.

ACTIVE SOUND CONTROL Drivers can adjust the sound of their GS F by switching to SPORT S or SPORT S+ which engages Active Sound Control. This amplifies the car’s deep exhaust note for all occupants to enjoy, perfectly complementing the sporty driving experience.

SPORTS VDIM Sports Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) ensures that the enormous power of the GS F can be enjoyed smoothly and safely. This adjusts throttle, steering and suspension settings to provide sportier performance, and expands the permissible range of centrifugal force before the VDIM system intervenes. If you’re ready to push the GS F to the extreme, you can switch Sports VDIM off completely.

TORQUE VECTORING DIFFERENTIAL Designed to further heighten driving enjoyment, the GS F features a Torque Vectoring Differential with three operating modes: STANDARD, for a balance of agile performance and high-speed stability, SLALOM, for an emphasis on nimble response to steering inputs and TRACK, for consistent, refined cornering behaviour while circuit driving.

Millimetre-wave radar and an on-board computer calculate collision risk ahead. If the risk is high, the driver is alerted by audible and visual warnings and brake pressure is increased. When a collision is deemed unavoidable, the brakes will be applied automatically as necessary and the front seatbelts tightened.

As part of the Pre-Crash Safety system, if an object (such as a pedestrian) is detected in front of the GS F, automatic braking will activate when the car is travelling between about 10 and 80 km/h to help avoid a collision.

Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) uses a camera in the front windscreen to monitor your position in lane. If you start drifting out of lane, LKA will activate a warning buzzer and give brief corrective steering input.

SYSTEM An adjustable LED Adaptive Highbeam System prevents the GS F from dazzling other road users. A total of 11 independent LED chips in the headlight are enabled/disabled for precise control of the illuminated and non-illuminated areas.

CONTROL For a more relaxing drive, Adaptive Cruise Control maintains a set distance between the new GS F and the vehicle ahead, even if that vehicle varies its speed.

The Road Sign Assist (RSA) system on the new GS F recognises traffic signs using the windscreen mounted camera, and provides information to the driver in the multi-information display. RSA can detect signs that are compliant with the Vienna Convention (including electroluminescent and flashing signs).

TEN AIRBAGS In addition to an immensely strong passenger safety cell, occupant protection is provided by ten sensor controlled airbags. All seatbelts, except for the centre rear seat, are also specified with pre-tensioners. The driver and front passenger are protected by 2-stage head airbags, as well as knee and side airbags. Outer rear seats are equipped with side airbags as standard, while curtain shield airbags run the full length of both cabin sides. This exceptional level of safety is provided as standard in the new GS F. As a result, injury risk is significantly reduced.

n REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT

Radar devices mounted in the rear bumper detect vehicles in adjacent lanes that are not visible in the door mirrors. If the driver is indicating to change lane and a vehicle enters the blind spot, a warning signal appears in the relevant door mirror(s).

The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function uses Blind Spot Monitor radar to detect vehicles approaching the area behind the vehicle in a car park. When necessary, it alerts you with a buzzer and a visual display in the door mirrors.

EXTERIOR FEATURES

ALL-LED HEADLIGHTS Sophisticated triple ‘L’-shaped headlights use the same LED light source for both high and low beam. For a unique aura, they are underscored by Daytime Running Lights.

F-LINE AERODYNAMICS Complementing the F-line signature wing vents, that help cool the engine compartment and improve airflow, a beautifully laminated carbon-fibre spoiler completes the GS F’s powerful rear end, adding extra downforce at higher speeds.

QUADRUPLE EXHAUSTS Diagonally arranged quadruple exhausts give the GS F a distinctive F marque look. To enhance the quality of the engine sound heard inside and outside the cabin, a high-function baffle integrating glass wool and stainless steel wool has been used on the exhausts.

LED REAR LIGHTS Intriguingly elegant, Lexus’ identity is reflected in the new ‘L’-shaped rear LED lights, while integral aero-stabilising fins enhance handling refinement.

FORGED ALLOY WHEELS A hallmark of all Lexus F models, the GS F’s wheels are forged (rather than cast) in a process that emulates the blows of a blacksmith’s hammer to combine strength through an improved metallic structure, with lightness. The sharp-looking machined spokes have an intriguing layered configuration and an exquisitely polished finish.

SPORTS STEERING WHEEL The GS F has a thick grip steering wheel that offers greater control during performance driving. The placement, shape and operation of the wheel’s paddle shifts have also been optimised for fast, accurate gear changes.

SPORTS SEATS All-new high-back seats feature ‘integrated foaming’, which gives a cosseting, highly supportive fit. This motorsport-inspired technology allows greater comfort and lateral support than is possible with conventional upholstery. The driver and front passenger can heat or ventilate their seats.

n REAR HEATED SEATS The outer rear seats can also be individually heated via a convenient control panel. Located in the rear centre armrest and featuring an LCD display, this panel can also be used to set the rear climate zone, control the audio and operate the rear blind.

n 3-ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL Featuring world first nanoe® technology, the new GS F cabin is divided into three electronically controlled climate zones. Front seat occupants input their individual settings via Remote Touch or the front panel, while rear passengers control their zone using a dedicated panel.

Or a mobile device can be played through the vehicle’s speakers, while viewing digital music information on the display.

n 12.3-INCH MULTIMEDIA DISPLAY The extra large 12.3-inch multimedia display allows driver and front passenger to interact using Remote Touch, while voice commands also control a number of applications. The split-widescreen is optimised for simultaneously viewing two types of information, for example large map display and DAB radio station information.

REMOTE TOUCH Next-generation Remote Touch lets users interact intuitively with the central multimedia display. Ergonomically designed, it is close at hand and as easy to use as a computer mouse.

COLOUR HEAD-UP DISPLAY GS F driving data, such as speed, is projected directly onto the windscreen within the driverâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s field of vision. LEXUS HOTSPOT Lexus Hotspot effectively turns your car into a mobile WiFi hotspot. When in a 2G/3G area, it enables connection for up to five WiFi capable devices such as tablets, phones and laptops, and supports in-car interaction between them. The system uses a SIM card of your choice and wires into the car’s electrics for constant power.

WHEEL LOCKS Replacing one nut on each wheel with a Lexus wheel lock maximises security. A rounded profile and coded key make the locks virtually impossible to remove with a conventional spanner.

WIND DEFLECTORS These are aerodynamically shaped to complement the vehicle’s streamlining. When travelling with open windows, Lexus wind deflectors help maintain cabin comfort by reducing wind noise and turbulence.

ACUVELOUR FLOOR MATS Luxurious yet practical acuvelour mats add to the sound absorbing qualities of the GS F’s carpets.
