01 Platform House Professional collaboration with AMPS. Architectural design Luxury single-family summer house. 1st prize invited competition. Marbella. Spain. 05/2015

The project consisted of a series of platforms with different views towards the sea and the horizon. This was intertwined with ponds, waterfalls and water skylights located at different levels but mainly in the rooftop because the most beautiful views could be seen from there. The connection between the house and the garden was solved by means of a series of decks adapted to topography. A spectacular spiral staircase on the ground floor was one of the most impressive features of the house together with a series of lattices. The latter ones were used to control the intense light typical of the south of Spain.

02 Halls Farm Professional collaboration with AMPS. Architectural design Residential refurbishment. RIBA stages 1-2 Silchester. United Kingdom. 07/2016

The project was aimed at connecting an existing country-house with its adjacent barn by adding two volumes. One of them was meant to be closed and private and was clad in wood while the other one was open and light with a glazed façade. Additionally, the proposal considered a small extension to the existing house with a dining room and a new access. This required the demolition of some unsympathetic additions to the sixteenthcentury barn. All new volumes except the glazed one were covered with a green rooftop to blend the intervention with the surrounding nature.

03 Airways Aviation Professional collaboration with AMPS. Architectural design Educational & retail. RIBA stages 3-5 Huesca. Spain. 08/2016

Regeneration of an abandoned flight academy in Huesca, Spain. The project proposes the addition of a Control Tower next to the existing buildings and the refurbishment of an abandoned warehouse by placing a large curtain wall in one of the façades and improving its accessibility with an entrance ramp. There are references to the world of aviation by designing an interior ceiling which recalls wind maps due to the location of lights as if they indicated wind directions. Besides, the reception table is shaped like the wing of an aeroplane. Link: http://amps.es/2014/01/airways-aviation-academy-huesca-pirineosairport-2016/

04 Ennismore Mews Professional collaboration with AMPS. Architectural design High-end residential refurbishment. RIBA stages 1-2 London. United Kingdom. 02/2016

Ennnismore Mews sits within the Knightsbridge Conservation Area. The proposal includes the construction of a single storey basement extension under the existing property footprint. Together with this extension the project considers relocating the existing stairs and placing them in the rear part of the house. This is aimed at creating a rear lightwell that illuminates the whole building. Party wall agreement constraints were taken into consideration in the design of the upper floorplan.

05 Hares Farm Professional collaboration with AMPS. Architectural design High-end residential refurbishment. RIBA stages 1-2 Hartley Witney. United Kingdom. 07/2016

This is part of a series of projects developed by the studio in rural areas in the UK meant for high-end retail and residential purposes. In this case, the project aimed at transforming an abandoned barn into an Airbnb. Part of the proposal was a brief masterplan for the area surrounding the barn including a swimming pool, a conservatory and some parking spaces. The existing wooden structure in the barn is used to fragment the whole space into different areas for sleeping, party and dinner as well as a private apartment for the owner of the farm.

06 Rent - a - Room Academic project · 05/2017 The bartlett school of architecture · UCL Supervisor: Hannah Corlett. Assemblage

The project explores the urban colonisation phenomena of room rental, where there is a cohabitation between permanent residents, and temporal ones. This is studied in a series of four housing blocks located in Clerkenwell that belong to different historical periods. Each of the blocks answers to specific historic social conditions and constructive methods. The project consists of adding new room units that are sympathetic to what already exists by paying special attention to materiality and volumetric conditions. New rooms will be rented out thus providing an extra source of income for the permanent neighbours of the building.

- 18 -

https://www.leyremauleon.com/

Achievements: - Deep knowledge of the history of housing in Clerkenwell with study of different typologies. - Design for an urban site by looking at its historic elements and taking into consideration Conservation Area regu + familiarization with Permitted Development Rights. - Regeneration of deteriorated housing estates and consideration of them as valuable heritage that must be preserved and enhanced. - Facing the current housing crisis in the UK by regeneration and densification of housing estates instead of demolition.

07 Print - your - House Final dissertation · 09/2017 The bartlett school of architecture · UCL Supervisor: Hannah Corlett. Assemblage

The project consists of the design of a housing typology that, by means of the combination of 3D scanning and 3D printing techniques, can colonise interstitial spaces in historic sites. The prototypes are made of recyclable bioplastic which can be entirely shredded and reprinted again into new houses. Consequently, instead of accepting decay as a natural consequence of time, the housing units will be constantly recycled. In this process the 3D printed material will be preserved, but it will be re-shaped over and over to suit the evolving needs of each user as time goes by.

Achievements: - Deep knowledge of 3D printing with ABS and PLA desktop 3D printers and use of Cura and Makerbot software. - Experience on 3D scanning with Agisoft Photoscan computer and camera software. - Knowledge of micro-housing space standards.

08 Beti Jai Theatre School Academic project. 09/2012 Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM) Supervisor: Jose María de la Puerta, Antonio Ruiz Barbarín

The proposal transforms an abandoned listed building located at the heart of Madrid into a theatre school. The former building was used as a stadium for the practice of a traditional Basque sport called “Frontón”. Its delicate steel structure inspires the texture in the façade of the new addition. The idea is to leave the existing steel structure untouched and to introduce a new sculptural piece inside the courtyard facing the existing bleachers.

Achievements: - Use of laser cutting to make scale models - Experience in dealing with listed building and creative reuse of historic fabric in urban environments. - Creation of façade pattern using existing geometries.

09 Birds & Ruins Final thesis · 09/2014 Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM) Supervisor: Maria Jose Aranguren

Entire development of a highly detailed individual project, from analysis to construction detailing, installations and structure design. The main aim is to regenerate a small uninhabited village by building twenty small scale aviaries to host different species of birds. The mesh of the aviary emits a bluish thin light during the night. This enhances the mysterious atmosphere of the remaining ruins. The structural behaviour of the aviary was studied with a scale model where the guying cables could be stretched to check which of them resisted the biggest load.

Achievements: - Winning competition entry. First Prize - Textile Structures for New Building 13th International Student Competition 1st price - 1st Category: MacroArchitecture - Knowledge about tensile structures construction details and structural requirements. Structural analysis with specific software called Wintess3 as well as experimental study with scale model. - Dealing with issues about creative reuse of obsolete historic fabric in rural areas.

10 Twin city Academic project · 05/2017 The bartlett school of architecture · UCL Supervisor: Sophia Psarra. Space Syntax Lab

The project deals with the love & hate relationship between local & tourist in Venice. It does so by regenerating abandoned palaces and transforming them into mixed use facilities with local residents living with tourists. This cohabitation is enabled by the reuse of historic elements such as double intertwined staircases and “altanas”(*). The project connects the existing “altanas” by creating a series of walkways and bridges thus generating a second street network in the air for tourists to walk and admire the city thus alleviating congestion in the streets. (*) Typical element of the venetian urban morphology. Light structures placed on top of the roofs of buildings to admire views.

- 30 -

https://www.leyremauleon.com/

Achievements: - Knowledge of Venice urban morphology. - Increase software knowledge in Space Syntax and Arc Gis tools to analyse urban networks and map different phenomena such as airbnb offers or intensity of movement through streets. - Dealing with issues related to creative reuse of historic fabric. - Regeneration of historic urban environments. - Combination of Space Syntax Analysis with Urban Design by creating a series of urban furniture to meet the needs of different users in the city.
