DESIGN PORTFOLIO
INTRODUCTION
My name is Erik Nilsson, I am a design student from northen Sweden. This is my portfolio from my years as a student of Master Programme in Industrial Design Engineering. I have put together what I have accomplished during my years at LuleĂĽ University of Technology but also projects not connected to my studies.

CHAPTER 1 DRILL BABY DRILL
Surface Modeling course that was based on learning the program Alias Auto Studio, this design is based on my own drawings that then was given a 3D shape with different materials and colors added and then rendered to be made into a poster for presentation.
CHAPTER 2 MACBOOK AIR
Group project where the goal was to pick a product, break it down into its different parts and then make 3D models out of them and then assemble them into one final result. Me and my group picked a MacBook Air and I was assigned to create the battery pack with the speakers that were connected to it. The project was based on the use of NX as programe which uses Solid Modeling.
CHAPTER 3 WALKER
I have studied sketching on both basic and advanced level at the university and it has always come to use in different projects. This product presentation is based on the usage of both handdrawing with the help just a pen but also Photoshop.
CHAPTER 4 SNOW SHOVEL
The whole course was based on developing a snow shovel that was of low quality and price. Me and my group tackled the problem by using everything we had learned through our time at the university. Final concept we constructed was a shovel that was made out of aluminium and heat treated birch.
CHAPTER 5 AIR ENGINE
This project was based on a purpose to build a engine ment to run on airpressure, the whole engine was built from scratch. The group had access to a metall workshop where all parts where built.
To create the engine there where different stages that had to be dealt with. Construction, metall workshop
and
drawings, so forth.
Analysis in NX was done too. Both of the durability and the movement of the engine. These factors where dealt with before the physical engine was built.
CHAPTER 6 MOMENT OF TRUTH
Graphic design project for the resellers of Moment Skis and TREW Clothing in Sweden, a poster that was to be used for welcoming business partneres to meetings.
CHAPTER 7 WIMILLE
Designing a robot vaccuum cleaner by using the same language as Bugatti does in their cars with shapes and colors. By first reading the company and understanding what they stand for the project then took the course of implementing this in different ways on the end product.

CHAPTER 8 UNIQUE PACKAGING
Headbanger Lures is a startup company from Luleü, Sweden that has a brand new design on fishing lures. The lures head is created to make irregular movements in the water which is ground breaking design for today’s fishing lure market. This thesis is directed towards the design of the package that the lure is sold in, with key interest in creating something different that would present the lure to the buyer in a special way. In the process of doing this the project also had a direction towards an extra function that could have been added to the package and by doing that giving the package a longer life span.
“To conduct a project for how a company can distinguish it from its rivals by a new design of their packaging. Thus it can create an enhanced picture of the company that dares to think differently.”
• How can a packaging become more unique without increasing the production cost? • How can the package be designed to match the company’s image? • How can a package create a need of use after the lure has been removed from it?

With the help of the data collection and a few workshops a great variety of ideas were created and then worked through with the help of cluster methods that then ended with 9 different concepts that were then presented to the company’s board.
Two concepts got chosen to be mixed up by picking out different features that was attractive to create a delightful opening experience.
