Refund Policy

Charge is per participant, per program unless otherwise stated.

General Refund Policy: Refunds and Transfers are permitted up to 5 business days before start of program with cancellation fee applied unless otherwise stated. No refunds issued for requests with less than 4 business days or less notice.

Refund Fee: $10 for classes up to $100, $25 for classes over $100.

Transfer Fee: $10 per participant, per program.

Code of Conduct

LGS Recreation is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for participants, visitors, and staff. Individuals are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times and adhere to all program, District, Local, State and Federal Laws, Regulations, and/or local ordinances with regard to behavior. Failure to comply may result in losing the temporary or permanent privilege of using LGS facilities and/or participating in programs.

“No Class” Dates: See online class descriptions for individual class meetings and “no class” dates.

Materials Fees: As applicable, see website description for details.

Cancellations: When enrollment is low we reserve the right to cancel a class. You will receive a full refund within 4-6 weeks.

Make–Ups: Recreation cancellations only.

Waiting Lists: Once a class is filled, your name is put on a waiting list. Lists are not held from one session to the next.

Returned Check: A $25 fee will be charged for each returned check.

Foreign Currency: We do not accept foreign currency.

GENERAL PROGRAM REGISTRATION LIABILITY WAIVER/INDEMNITY: The undersigned, in consideration of participation in the programs operated by Los Gatos –Saratoga Community Education and Recreation (LGS Recreation), agrees to indemnify and hold harmless LGS Recreation, its Board of Directors, contractors, employees and volunteers, and waive and release LGS Recreation, its Board of Directors, contractors, employees and volunteers, from any and all liability for any injury or death which may be suffered by the named individual(s) participating in programs operated by LGS Recreation, or arising out of, or in any way connected with participation in such programs. have read the above application and agreement, and fully understand that assume all risks for any such injuries or death.

PHOTOGRAPHY RELEASE: hereby grant permission to include pictures and/or video of me and/or said minor(s) (without the use of names), while participating in LGS recreation program, for brochures or other publicity, and release the photographer and LGS Recreation from liability for any violation of any personal or proprietary right I or my minor(s) might have in connection with any reproduction of or use of photographs in which or my minor(s) appear. LGS Recreation and its photographer will only take photographs and videos in a public setting in which there is not a reasonable expectation of privacy. I understand that neither I nor my minor(s) will-not receive any compensation for the use of such pictures or video. This Waiver of Claims/Assumption of Risk/Consent applies to future participation in all programs of LGS by all signatories and minors on whose behalf it has been signed.

GENERAL PARTICIPATION BY MINORS: This Waiver of Claims/Assumption of Risk applies to participation in all programs of LGS by all signatories and minors on whose behalf it has been signed. have fully read this Agreement and fully understand its content. Furthermore, the significance of this release of liability and assumption of risk agreement has been EXPLAINED TO THE MINOR. I certify that I have custody or am the legal guardian of said minor and that and my minor child are physically able to participate in recreation activities. In the event I or said minor requires medical treatment while under the supervision of staff and/or agents, authorize said staff to provide and/or authorize medical treatment. I expect staff to contact me immediately in the event emergency medical treatment is required for said minor, but this contact is not necessary to administer emergency aid. will pay for all medical treatment which or said minor may require.

DIGITAL REGISTRATION: Agreement to Term: LGS Recreation offers digital registration for the convenience of program participants. I agree that electronically registering for LGS Recreation activities, including clicking the “I agree” button, hereby constitutes a legally binding signature and agreement to all terms and conditions stated herein, and shall have the same binding force and effect as a physical signature. CONCUSSION PROTOCOL: I understand and acknowledge that if participating in a program listed in CA Health and Safety Code 124235, the enrolled participant is subject to concussion protocol as outlined in CA Health & Safety Code 124235 which includes “Return to Play” procedures.

VIRTUAL CLASSES: Participants of virtual recreation classes acknowledge they are responsible for ensuring their environment is safe/free from obstructions and bear sole responsibility for, and thereby release LGS Recreation from, any liability arising out of use of third-party applications (e.g., Zoom, Instagram, etc.) on their personal devices.

COVID WAIVER: Public Health Requirements Related to Coronavirus/COVID-19 Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and I may be exposed to, or infected by COVID-19 by attending, and/or transporting my children to, LGS Recreation programs, activities, or events, and of the named perils listed below. Voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless LGS Recreation, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to the above-named perils in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance at LGS Recreation programs, including any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of LGS Recreation, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any LGS Recreation program.

The 55 Plus Program hosts special events throughout the year for members to connect and celebrate. Join our community in 2025 for an annual fee of $35 to and for exclusive social events like New Year’s Gala, Bocce & Brew, Celebration of the Arts, Mother’s Day High Tea, Vasona Boats & BBQ, Summer Picnic, Veterans Day Ceremony, Thanksgiving Lunch, Holiday Morning Social, and more. We are a community-focused program dedicated to offering enriching sensory and art classes for babies and toddlers by creating a supportive and engaging environment where young children can explore, learn, and develop essential skills.

BABY & ME Adjusting to life with a new baby can be exciting and challenging. Join other parents and guardians who are in the trenches with you as you navigate these early days together.

BABY SENSORY CLASS Stimulate your baby’s senses and support their early development. Activities include gentle music, textured toys, visual stimulation, and interactive play. Materials Fee: $5.

PRESCHOOL SENSORY ART & EXPLORATION Celebrate the process and never lose sight of igniting creativity and following the child’s lead. We’ll engage the seven elements of art: color, shape, line, texture, space, form and value. Materials Fee: $10.

TODDLER & ME Engage in free and sensory play, practice peer socialization, and have snack (provided) as a group. Adults will strengthen their support network and discuss ways to manage toddler behaviors, routines, and transitions. Materials Fee: $15.

Caregivers and children explore and learn about the local ecosystems and the flora and fauna from naturalist and experienced preschool teacher Ellen, however, nature is our real teacher!

Kids join for the program but stay for the experience! We provide a safe, nurturing, and exciting environment where kids can simply be kids. Our interest-based program includes daily snacks, cooking projects, arts and crafts, outdoor games, sports, science experiments, and more. Designed for grades TK-5, we aim to create a “home away from home” while meeting the needs of both children and parents. Hours and fees vary based on the selected care schedule, with programs running during the school year.

Students will meet pets from Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority and explore art forms like watercolors, mixed media, and sculpture. They’ll draw from life, still life, and portraits to improve observation skills. Completed artworks will be displayed publicly and featured on the Project HumaneKind website to promote shelter animal adoptions.

BALLET

PRESCHOOL BALLET Learn ballet techniques as well as rhythm and music appreciation in a fun and playful way.

CHILDREN’S BALLET Movement, grace and fun are the tone of this class, as students explore Ballet technique.

BALLET Students will develop grace, self confidence, and an appreciation of the art of Ballet.

BALLET/POINTE Ballet, the foundation of all dance, offers an hour of classical technique at the barre and center floor.

LITTLE RANCHERS Through hands on interaction, toddlers and parents will learn about horses and ponies, expand vocabulary, improve social skills and reinforce the importance of caring, patience and taking turns. Class includes 15 minute pony ride. Parent participation is required.

SADDLE CLUB Enjoy 15 minutes of ground work and a 30 minute Beginner Western riding lesson. Students will learn to saddle, groundwork safety, and grooming a horse.

TRAIL RIDES Through the beautiful all weather trails of Wunderlich Park in Woodside. Your horse will take you through the beautiful redwoods with creeks and other sites of nature. This ride is for all levels of experience!

WESTERN LESSONS Students will learn horse safety, mounting, dismounting, steering, stopping, balance, posting trot, sitting trot. Perfect for beginner riders.

Youth Evolution Activities - 3 -11 YRS. Basketball

BABY BALLERS will learn the fundamental steps necessary to understand the sport with parent/guardian’s participation and encouragement.

LEVEL I focuses on technique through the use of activities that subsequently help build on each other, helping the children to gradually increase their ability to do the basic skill to help them play the sport of basketball.

LEVEL II focuses on dribbling, passing, shot technique and teamwork. Adjustable hoops and appropriately sized basketballs are used to always provide just the right amount of challenge.

LEVEL III course is aimed to improve large motor skills, spatial awareness and teamwork. The instructor will focus on agility, drills become a bit more advanced and teach children how to perform under pressure of the clock and their opponents.

Futsal is fun, fast-paced and played indoors on an area the size of a basketball court using a small, size 3, low-bounce ball. FAMILY IN SHALLOW END

Our Family swim reservations allow the entire family to have fun in the shallow end of the pool with a single reservation. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Reserve your Family Swim time online under the “Lap Swim” section. Cash is not accepted. Family Swim times and session may vary. Reservation is for the shallow end of the pool only.

Lap Swim/ Lap swim is available throughout the week including weekends. The LGHS Aquatics Center is an outdoor pool open year-round and heated to 81 degrees. ALCOHOL INK ON YUPO Alcohol inks provide intense color and bright white surface of the yupo paper helps intensify the vibrancy of the painting. The alcohol inks will glide across the surface creating different effects. Make a floral painting and experiment with color combinations and other techniques.

COLORED PENCIL DRAWING A tool that brings depth and vibrancy to art, regardless of skill level. Follow step by step instruction to create a vibrant bird. Learn methods of blending colors to create the illusion of different textures, highlights and shadows.

PRINTING PRESS MONO PRINT Other printmaking processes produce multiple identical copies; a monoprint is only one impression. Use a plexiglass board to make a design with watercolor crayons. Transfer to a watercolor paper using the printing press.

SCRATCHBOARD ILLUSTRATION Draw by engraving using a sharp tool to scratch away black surface to reveal a white color. Think of it as reverse drawing. Instead of making dark marks on a white paper, you create light marks on a dark surface to create an image. Commonly used to create realistic portraits of animals.

AARP DRIVER SAFETY - 2 Day Course and 1 Day Refresher offered in person bi-monthly. Contact the 55 Plus Office to schedule.

AARP TAX AIDE - In person appointments during tax season. Contact the 55 Plus Office to schedule.

ART AND MUSIC APPRECIATION – Interactive class exploring and discussing influential artists and musicians. Partnership with West Valley College. Sign up with the 55 Plus office required.

ARTIST WORKSHOP - Open workspace. Bring in your materials and work on your individual projects with our welcoming community of artists. No formal instruction. All levels welcome.

BADMINTON - Join us for drop-in play. All levels welcome. Equipment provided.

BALANCE AWARENESS - Develop a foundation of balance for functional fitness and fall prevention. Partnership with West Valley College. Sign up with the 55 Plus office required.

BOOK CLUB - Meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Pick up the booklist from the 55 Plus Office.

BINGO – Get out your dauber and get ready to have some fun! Join us monthly for prize BINGO.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT – Learn something new about food related topics and sample the subject matter. New topic each month.

GUEST SPEAKER – Bringing a variety of local experts in to share their knowledge with us. Suggestions welcome!

GREAT GETAWAYS - Local bus trips arranged monthly. Additional fees and registration required.

HAND & FOOT CANASTA – Calling all Canasta players! See the 55 Plus office for a list of rules and a description of play.

HANDS ON ART – Tap into your creative side with a new project each month. All levels welcome. Materials provided.

HICAP – In-person appointments with a helpful volunteer for free and objective information and counseling about Medicare. Contact 55 Plus Office to schedule.

MAGIC MOVIE TOUR - Lights, Camera, Action! Join us each month for a movie, discussion, and fun facts about the world of cinema... and some popcorn too!

MAH JONGG – Friendly American Mah Jongg players group. All levels welcome. If you are interested in learning to play, please inquire with the 55 Plus office.

MEXICAN TRAIN DOMINOES - Be the first player to lay down your dominoes. A lot of fun and just a few key rules, makes this a great social game to join! All levels welcome.

PING PONG – Drop in to socialize and play. Equipment provided.

PINOCHLE - Double Deck Pinochle. Experienced players only, no instruction.

READER’S THEATER – Read aloud modern and classic plays without having to memorize the lines! Sign up with the 55 Plus office required.

SALA - SENIOR ADULTS LEGAL ASSISTANCE – On site appointments for free legal services. Contact the 55 Plus Office to schedule.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE – Volunteer opportunity. Help shape what programs, activities and socials are available through the 55 Plus program. Help plan and decorate for upcoming social events. Help make our community warmer and brighter!

SOCIAL DANCE – Dance instruction, refreshments, and music!

STAY FIT – Seated exercise class focusing on range of motion and building strength with resistance bands. Partnership with West Valley College. Sign up with the 55 Plus office required.

TEEN TECH & TABLE GAMES - Bring your devices and questions for tech support from our team of knowledgeable high school volunteers. Our teens are eager to play table games too! Learn a new game or bring in a favorite.

TUESDAY TOWN WALKERS - Get Moving! Walk to local areas at your own pace, socialize and explore Los Gatos.

WEDNESDAY GAME DAY/BRIDGE – Staff coordinate tables of over 40 Bridge players each week! Canasta tables too. Sign up with the 55 Plus office required.

WOOD CARVING – Turn pieces of wood into objects of art. Group helps mentor all levels of carvers to improve your skills. Pop in to check out the projects they are working on!

YOGA – Practice from a chair or mat or both. Boost energy, reduce stress, improve flexibility and balance. Pre-registration required $5/class.

ZUMBA GOLD - Join this easy-to- follow dance workout that focuses on balance, range of motion, coordination and fun! Perfect for the active older adult. Pre-registration required $5/class.

55 PLUS-SENIOR PROGRAMS - WAIVER OF CLAIMS/ASSUMPTION: The undersigned, in consideration of participation in the programs operated by Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Education and Recreation (LGS Recreation), agrees to indemnify and hold harmless LGS Recreation, its Board of Directors, contractors, employees and volunteers, and waive and release LGS Recreation, its Board of Directors, contractors, employees, and volunteers, from any and all liability for any injury or death which may be suffered by the named individual(s) participating in programs operated by LGS Recreation, or arising out of, or in any way connected with participation in such programs. I have read the above application and agreement, and fully understand that I assume all risks for any such injuries or death.

PHOTOGRAPHY RELEASE: I hereby grant permission to include pictures and/or video of me and/or said minor(s) (without the use of names), while participating in LGS Recreation program, for brochures or other publicity, and release the photographer and LGS Recreation from liability for any violation of any personal or proprietary right or my minor(s) might have in connection with any reproduction of or use of photographs in which or my minor(s) appear. LGS Recreation and its photographer will only take photographs and videos in a public setting in which there is not a reasonable expectation of privacy. understand that neither I nor my minor(s) will-not receive any compensation for the use of such pictures or videos. This Waiver of Claims/Assumption of Risk/Consent applies to future participation in all programs of LGS by all signatories and minors on whose behalf it has been signed.

DIGITAL REGISTRATION- AGREEMENT TO TERMS: LGS Recreation offers digital registration for the convenience of program participants. I agree that electronically registering for LGS Recreation activities, including clicking the “I agree” button, hereby constitutes a legally binding signature and agreement to all terms and conditions stated herein, and shall have the same binding force and effect as a physical signature.

VIRTUAL CLASSES: Participants of virtual recreation classes acknowledge they are responsible for ensuring their environment is safe/free from obstructions and bear sole responsibility for, and thereby release LGS Recreation from, any liability arising out of use of third-party applications (e.g., Zoom, Instagram, etc.) on their personal devices.

COVID WAIVER: Public Health Requirements Related to Coronavirus/COVID-19 Assumption of the Risk and Waiver of Liability Relating to Coronavirus/COVID-19 By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and I may be exposed to, or infected by COVID-19 by attending, and/or transporting my children to, LGS Recreation programs, activities, or events, and of the named perils listed below. Voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless LGS Recreation, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to the above-named perils in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance at LGS Recreation programs, including any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of LGS Recreation, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any LGS Recreation program.

This Waiver of Claims/Assumption of Risk/Consent applies to future participation in all programs of LGS by all signatories and children on whose behalf it has been signed.

Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Education and Recreation is a joint powers agency formed in 1956 by the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District. Commonly known as “LGS Recreation”, the department was re-organized by the three local school districts as a separate joint powers agency to ensure the effective and efficient provision of community education and recreation services to the communities of Los Gatos, Saratoga, Monte Sereno, and Mountain Communities.
