SHELTER constructive studio semester

The project was developed in five steps: Clay - cardboard - sticks structure - construction. With these five steps you can comprehend the process for designing the shelter for a shepherd and his animals. The construction is made of wooden beams, which are stacked over each other in different angels. The result of this indentation is a simple and stiff construction. Through the different angels of the beams appear some steps in the room. These steps form a stair up to the second floor.

The thought of man-made determines the material. Earth and concrete grow into each other. Between covered platforms attracts a green lawn attention. From far away it seems that a man jumps onto solid ground, but he lands in water of the bath. If you swim through the dam you reach the racepool, which is the only extension of the bath. And where you swim through a rye field.

The aim of this project was to build a one-family house with less than 164 m3. Based on the law of Vienna’s allotments, which allows people to build a house on their garden within the rules. The construction is a timber structure with prefabricated elements. The challenge was to build in minimal space and provide a certain living quality.

SINGLE SURVIVAL UNIT semester

The idea was to build a survival unit for a student without a flat. The plot is a parking space next to the university which should stay in function. My idea was to use a scaffold as a main construction, which is cheap and removable. This way I got the required height. For the cover I choose a poly carbonate. It is semi transparent and isolating. The roof has the function to open in different kind of uses.

In cooperation with the vertical studio I had the opportunity to participate one semester in the master course of sustainable design. It was a great experience for me and it changed my way of dealing with architecture. The aim of the project was to reduce the living space to 20 m2 per person. With this densification we gain more productive land to cope our needs of food, cloth and mobility. Another important aspect was to deal with ecological materials. The project was located in the suburbia of Zurich, which deal with this topic at the moment.

Reuse, Reshape, Recycle was the theme of the Semester. The project was a 300 years old farmhouse in Waldstatt in Appenzell. It is placed in a 6 hectare big grassland. The aim was to find a new function for the house which includes the surrounding. The task was to use only the existing materials of the farmhouse and recycled elements from demolished houses from an internet platform. To deal with the construction we build a model of the whole house in scale 1:1o.

The idea was to desing a leaf in rhyno and use it as a surface to experiment with grasshopper. I chose a leaf of a nut tree and i tried to give it a fur. Therefore i generated a squares over the whole surface and set the parameter for a pyramid in each. With a slider i defined the height of the pyramid. Then i took a descriptive angle and rendered with v-ray.
