Dilworth Eliot has been working with Intemodal Structures to develop their modular classroom system since 2015. While the modular unit is roughly the same dimension of a shipping container, the container itself entirely custom fabricated for the client. The frame is based on a steel moment frame, infilled with insulated metal window panels, windows, and doors. They have been awarded the US Resiliency Council’s Platinum Earthquake Rating, making them the first educational facilities in the country to achieve USRC’s highest resiliency status.

Dilworth Eliot has adapted the system for rapidly deployable housing for individuals displaced due to California fires, as well as commercial office spaces.
Our role is varied: design assist through design build, design development, code research, construction documents for site adapts of the system, renderings of new projects, and construction administration.
