SAINT LOUIS, MISSOURI, 1995. The grandfather of the private Club recruitment industry, John Sibbald, was sitting in his office. At the time, the telephone was still the primary form of communication, and a call came in from the President of a well-known Country Club in Los Angeles. He stated that his Club was the finest in LA and asked if Sibbald would perform the search for a new general manager. The salary was $78,000, with benefits. The next day, the telephone rang again. It was the President of a Club located just five miles away from the Club that had called the day before. He professed that his Club was the best in LA, and was considering Sibbald and Associates to conduct their search for a new general manager. Mr. Sibbald asked himself, “Which is the best Country Club in Los Angeles, and who should make that determination?”.
Platinum Clubs of America was born.
Many senior managers in the indus try today knew John Sibbald because he would have been involved with their careers in the 80s and 90s. As Platinum Clubs of America celebrates its 25th anniversary, Mr. Sibbald would have been proud that the brand he created is synonymous with Excellence and acknowledged as the premier recognition by private Club leaders across the na tion. After John’s passing, ownership of Club Leaders Forum changed hands and the organization’s focus and goals were expanded to provide additional benefits to licensed Clubs, their leadership, management, and members.
so well received (no lectures or classroom activities), that the Advisory Board approved the introduction of the 2022 Human Resources Mastermind Forum; the inaugural event was held at The Fort Worth Club in Texas.
Another highly popular initiative is the quarterly survey. Designed to be completed in less than 15 minutes, the surveys address the most relevant topics and challenges facing the world’s finest private Clubs.
The PlatinumClubNet program provides members of licensed Platinum Clubs the opportunity to request access to registered Platinum Clubs around the globe. As a result of the challenges from the pandemic, PlatinumClubNet was suspended. However, with travel returning to normal, the program is regaining momentum, with well over 100 Clubs from around the world accepting requests from fellow Platinum Club members.
PlatinumClubNet is not a reciprocal program—the Club receiving the request for access may approve or deny the incoming inquiry.

THE ELECTION was conducted over a three-week period by a third-party election official and managed with full transparency. Ballots were distributed to 4,118 private Clubs across the United States. The Club Leaders Forum Advi sory Board requested voters to reference the Board-approved Seven Selection Criteria when casting their confidential votes. One ballot was completed by the (CMAA) General Manager, COO or CEO and the other by the Club President or Owner. The total number of points received by each Club was divided by the number of voters to provide an average score in each category. Election results were certified as true and correct before being published.

Board.
Seven Selection Criteria
EACH OF THE SEVEN CRITERIA is approved by the Club Leaders Forum Advisory Board and collectively forms the basis for Excellence, representing Best Practices in the Private Club Industry. The Criteria are used by many of the finest Clubs in the world as the foundation and essence for their operating principles and philosophy, and are frequently utilized by leadership in Club Governance. General Managers, Club Presidents and Owners are asked to carefully consider the Seven Selection Criteria when casting their votes.
