The Physical World This paragraph should give a brief overview of the physical world of your game. You’ll talk about the physical world in more detail below and on the next page. This can be 3-4 sentences or a little longer.
KEY LOCATIONS List the key locations in the game here (Space, Italy, Forest, etc.).
TRAVEL Describe how the player travels within your world. Is it open world? Does your game load when you enter buildings? Train? Horse?
SCALE Describe the scale of your world. Is it normal? Or is it more like Alice in Wonderland where the door is too big to fit through?
OBJECTS Describe the types of objects in your world and how they might be used. Ex: Health potions, written notes, audio recordings of NPCs in the story (like in Bioshock). This section is a brief overview. You can describe each item in detail later.
WEATHER Describe the weather that will exist in your world. What actions might trigger the weather. If your game doesn’t have ‘typical’ weather. You could describe how your environment might interact with the player (Ex. A poltergeist that effects the environment).

GAME BLUEPRINT I haven’t seen this in other GDD documents, but this is how I approach explaining my game thoroughly in my own GDD I’ve been developing. I like to be as organized as possible. The point of this section is to walk through your entire game by listing out all interactions, easter eggs, plot movers, objects in the scene, etc. Each game is different. Use the sections you need. The main point of this section is to give your game an EXTREMELY detailed blueprint of your gameplay that will help tremendously when your team moves to each stage of development. Duplicate this spread for as many levels and scenes you have. Think of it as a script for play. Replace my examples below.
