Crafting My Way to a Fairy Tale Wedding

I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I started planning my dream wedding. You see, I have a bit of an issue where I want everything to be absolutely perfect. I hear this is a normal problem for brides, but I just don’t think they’re as bad as me.

You should see my future husbands ‘games room’ in our house, it’s absolutely full of craft supplies! UK brides tend to go for this elegant and clean look but since watching the Wedding Channel 24/7 I’ve decided that I want my wedding to be more American and by that I mean completely personal.

I’m making everything that I possibly can myself. The table’s centre pieces, name tags and even function room decorations. It’s been a lengthy and expensive process but at least now I know that everything on our special day will be completely original and have so much more of a personal feel to it.

Here’s what I’ve come up with so far;

Centre Pieces Let’s just say it’s a shame I couldn’t make my own vases out of glass! I’ve purchased 20 online and have a complete idea of what the finishing products are going to look like in my head. They’re going to be filled with white sand and have a single red candle buried inside. Then I will wrap some gold ribbon around the outside and finish with a bow.

Wall Decorations These took a lot of organising and effort but they’re totally worth it. For our wedding we’re going for an enchanted forest type theme so we went to the forest ourselves and found some dead branches. We spray painted them gold (I let him do that bit!) and entwined fairy lights between the twigs. They look great hanging on the walls and will double as a Christmas decoration in the winter.

My husband thinks I’m crazy and I must admit that I’m starting to think the same. We can’t even have people over at the moment because there are craft supplies coming out of every nook and cranny. I can’t wait for the wedding to be over so that I can clear the house up a bit, but I must admit I will feel lost in the evenings with nothing to do after the honeymoon!
