Play I saw us surveying precedents of "Thick" & "Thin" architecture (Tantallon Castle vs. Maison de Verre).
Play II established a way to connect the two, we started looking at the 'space' of the building as apposed to the 'mass'. The investigation of the inbetween space used CGI water as a measuring tool.
Play III put the theory into practice on a CAD model of the site; Roseburn Terrace, adjacent to the 'Innocent Railway' cycle path. No cars are allowed on the site so the main access point was from the cycle path, hence we used the cycle path entrances as entry points for the water in our CGI animations. We traced the maximum displacement of the water at each of the 10 site sections; joining these to become a fluid landscape. The 3 main events in the the water flow - inflow, reaction to the container wall, and the outflow - were used to define purpose of areas of the site - Way in, living area, way out respectively.
