Horror Movie Poster Analysis In the poster for “Shrooms” The colour pallet is rather muted with no colours sticking out aside from the bright white of the moon behind the flora and a faint green hue to the flora itself, lending the poster a more creepy and sombre tone which is a mainstay of movie posters in order to give the reader a small hint of the tone of the movie itself. The central image of the poster is the skull which is formed from the Mushrooms and the full moon, both elements indicate some sort of supernatural or magical aspects as mushrooms were once considered to be indicators for Fae and a full moon is supposedly linked to werewolves or dark events lending the film a supernatural horror theme, distinguishing it from the more common horror movies and perhaps attracting the portion of horror fans who prefer supernatural horror. The font used in the title is rather simplistic and clearly presents the title of the film, as far as the title goes it is a slang term for psychedelic mushrooms and thus tells the reader that the film will be one fuelled by some sort of drug trip as also backed up by the tagline “get ready to get wasted” which is a phrase used when taking drugs or to a lesser extent being killed, this gives the film a sinister tone and obviously a subtheme of drugs. To conclude, the composition of the piece puts the stars of the film in the primary sight and the rest of the text at the bottom in order to sell the film on the stars.
