Question 2

Question 2: how does your product represent particular social groups? My magazine is quite outside the Meta when it comes to which social groups it represents as in truth there is only one social group it does represent and that is those in our target audience via the use of exclusively images of the artist being interviewed. In terms of how fair the representation is, that relies upon the stereotypical or archetypal views of group presented by the world at large, on one hand I would say that the group is represented well by the manner of dress the artist is shown to be wearing and what brands those items of clothing are, the headphones are a multi group thing as they can be used for gaming(listening to game sound),music(listening to compositions)but it is the brand which gives away what audience the artist belongs to as they are an expensive pair of Razer headphones which are created with game audio in mind. The only way which is clear to me where the group (techies/gamers) is not fairly represented is in the physical appearance of the artist as he is an overweight male with a beard which could in some way be representative of the negative stigmas of gamers as a whole as they are sometimes depicted as lazy, unclean people with no interest in exercise or body image, on the other hand the artist could represent the unique quirks of the gaming community as he is a music artist which isn’t ripped or very attractive to a mass degree and as a result retains some individuality and will stand out as not a stereotype but an individual.
