LIAT, has increased its scheduled commercial flights into the territories affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The airline has been working to restore capacity to the affected territories as they continue their rebuilding efforts. The airline has increased its flights into Dominica, St. Maarten, and Tortola. This will provide greater connectivity for passengers within and outside the LIAT network. Interim Chief Commercial Officer, Audra Walker noted that demand is improving and the airline has been working closely with the relevant authorities to rebuild capacity to pre-Hurricane levels. “We at LIAT are committed to helping our region stay connected and we are keen to reinstate flights where there is demand for seats, as well as cargo and Quikpak services.” The airline will now operate three flights a week into St. Maarten, five flights a week into Tortola, twice a week to San Juan direct from Antigua and will increase the number of flights into Dominica to three flights per day. The new schedule became effective on November 16th.

On Sunday 29th October, the Caribbean Strong Relief Concert and Telethon drew a massive crowd to the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua. The initiative was proposed by Machel Montano and organised in collaboration with the governments of Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica. Local event organisers and businesses in Antigua including LIAT also came together to assist the concert. Proceeds from the star-studded event went towards the rebuilding of Antigua’s sister isle Barbuda and Dominica, both of which were recently ravaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The show featured a wide cross-section of artists, both local and regional. The performers included from Antigua, Tian Winter and Asher Otto & the Itchy Feet Band, Jamaicans Shaggy and Tesanne Chin, Trinidadians Destra Garcia and Kes, and Dominican artists Asa Banton and Triple Kay—and many others. Thanks to excellent performances, the charity event was hailed a success.
