Thank you for your interest in the commercial opportunities available at the Liberal Democrat Conferences in 2014. Conference is always my favourite time of the political cycle. It’s where thousands of our most passionate members and supporters come to talk politics, mingle with professionals, vote on policies and do business.
01 Introduction
Message from Nick Clegg
Our members love talking about politics – see my inbox if you don’t believe me – and are always willing to listen to a range of perspectives. Since entering Government our Conference has only gained in importance. The policies and ideas discussed, debated and agreed have had a real influence on Government. The Conference is also a key point of reference for our policy makers in Brussels, Edinburgh, Cardiff, London and local authorities up and down the country. Liberal Democrat Party Conferences are places where policy thinkers and policy makers can come together; where issues are discussed in the fringe, in the hotel bars and on the Conference floor, and where our party policies are decided. This year conference will play a critical role in determining the policies and priorities that will be at the heart of our 2015 manifesto. Unlike the other main parties what happens at our Conference really makes a difference. I hope you will choose to be part of it. I look forward to seeing you there.
Rt Hon Nick Clegg MP Leader of the Liberal Democrats Commercial Opportunities | 3
“Exhibiting at Liberal Democrat Conference provides a real boost to our campaigns and profile. The exhibition team provided us with excellent support throughout and helped ensure we got the opportunity to meet senior party figures. We look forward to returning in 2014.” CAMRA
01 Introduction
Client testimonials
“CentreForum has taken stands at both the Spring and Autumn Conferences for years because it is an ideal way of engaging with a large variety of influencers and decision-makers. We have always felt that, at the Liberal Democrat Party Conference, attendees meaningfully engage with exhibitors involved in major policy issues. It is very apparent that many feel that they are at the conference to play an active part in the policy making process and so aren’t just browsing the exhibition for free gifts!” CentreForum “As always, Guide Dogs was enormously pleased with our experience exhibiting at Liberal Democrat Party Conference. It was a great opportunity for us to highlight the issue of street clutter, which is so important to blind and partially sighted people. We were delighted with the interactions we had with policy-makers – we had 32 MPs visit the stand, as well as members of the House of Lords, MEPs and councillors. We were even featured on the 10 o’clock news with Nick Clegg! Everything was run smoothly and efficiently and we have nothing but praise for the event organisers.” Guide Dogs Thank you to our 2013 Conference Sponsors:

We hold two conferences every year, six months apart. The popular and lively Spring Conference takes place over a weekend in March, while the Autumn Conference normally takes place in September (early October in 2014). Both conferences have equal power to set policy and strategy. Spring Conference is an integral part of the policy making process with many debates taking place here that feed into what is then debated and voted on at our Autumn Conference. It is an excellent forum to discuss and debate with party members (including senior parliamentarians, senior councillors and other key opinion formers) in an informal and relaxed atmosphere over the weekend.
With 65%-70% of members attending conference with the right to vote on policies

Who goes to our conferences? Liberal Democrat Conferences are attended by thousands of party workers, councillors and parliamentarians from every constituency in the UK. They also attract diplomats, international, national and local media and observers from a broad range of commercial, charity and non-government organisations. In addition to formal debates on the conference floor, we hold less formal consultative sessions on aspects of Party policy and strategy and our diverse exhibition and fringe programme provide excellent opportunities for your organisation to make its message known to delegates.

Autumn Conference
4th – 8th October 2014, Glasgow
Commercial Opportunities | 19
I am delighted to be welcoming Conference back to Glasgow next year. It is really shaping up as the place to be in 2014 with not just Liberal Democrat conference, but the Commonwealth Games coming to the city too. We shall be gathering in Glasgow a few weeks after the independence referendum. I suspect that, even if for that reason alone, we shall have plenty to talk about!
03 Autumn Conference
Message from Alistair Carmichael
To me, conference is what sets the Liberal Democrats apart from our political rivals. It is a place where policies are debated and decided upon by our members. Whether you are talking to one of my colleagues in government at your exhibition stand, or to one of our passionate members in the bar, you will be talking to people who really have a say in decisions that affect the nation. What happens at our conferences really matters. I hope to see you there.
Rt. Hon. Alistair Carmichael MP Secretary of State for Scotland
