Christmas Parade New Route Down Joor from Hooper to Lovett

CENTRAL — Central will celebrate the 26th Annual “Christmas in Central” Parade and Festival Nov. 30 through Dec. 2. The highlight of the event will be the City of Central Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade, which will roll out of the Zoar Baptist Church parking lot at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. More than 100 floats, vehicles, and marching units are expected to participate. The parade usually draws 4,000 to 5,000 people. The weekend’s events also include a crafts fair, talent show, business expo, and Christmas carnival. The weekend begins with the annual Lighting of the Community Christmas Tree at 7 p.m. tonight. Also this year will be the Running of the Elves 2 Mile Fun Run. Race day registration and package pickup begins at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Joor and Hooper roads. Council Adopts Alcohol Control Ordinance
CENTRAL — The Central City Council unanimously adopted an Alcohol Control Ordinance at Tuesday’s Council meeting. The ordinance provides the city’s firstever control on the selling and dispensing of alcoholic beverages.
Central incorporated as a city on July 11, 2005, and the Parish ABC Board has enforced parishwide alcohol ordinances in the City of Central since then. However, the recent approval by the Metro Council of more lax ABC stan-
dards led the Parish Attorney to review parish ordinances and conclude that the Parish ABC Board had no power in Central unless the Council passed an ordinance. David Barrow, Chief Administrative

CENTRAL — Coaches in District 4-5A have named six Central Wildcats to the All-District offensive team and three Wildcats to the All-District defensive team. Central quarterback Brett Courville was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player in the district. For the second straight year, Gary Triplett was named the district’s outstanding Athlete. Players from Central, Denham Springs, Live Oak, Scotlandville, Walker, and Zachary were eligible for the honors. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
