Ph.D. in Health Sciences The Ph.D. in Health Sciences is a 60-credit-hour program that offers a general specialization, an exercise and sport science specialization, and a trauma informed care specialization. This program also features a traditional dissertation that allows you to take a deep dive into an area of your choice. A dissertation is a research project that identifies a gap or problem in existing literature and explores it. The audience is primarily academic, and its purpose is to add new knowledge to the field. If you love research and theoretical concepts and want to pursue a career in academia or leadership, the Ph.D. in Health Sciences is the program for you.

Doctor of Health Sciences (D.H.Sc.) The D.H.Sc. is a 60-credit-hour program that offers a general specialization — this allows you to have flexibility to choose the classes you want and customize your degree. The D.H.Sc. is a post-professional degree and is designed for those who want to pursue advanced professional practice. This program also features a 225-hour practicum, which can be done locally where you are, and an applied research project. An applied research project is based on an issue, situation, or problem that offers an opportunity to advance knowledge in that area. The audience is primarily practitioners in the field, and its purpose is to address practitioner-based problems. If you’re a working professional who loves hands-on work and applying your knowledge in different settings, the D.H.Sc. is the program for you.
