CASAS is comprised of 12 unique departments that operate out of two areas — Applied Studies and Academic Success. Our office is here for you during every phase of your education, supporting and preparing you before, during, and after your time at Liberty.
Both areas equip you to maximize your God-given potential through a variety of services, ranging from professional advising and tutoring to specialized programs focusing on skills like welding, carpentry, and electrical. General Education, as part of your core curriculum for all academic programs, also provides foundational skills to prepare you as a Champion for Christ. General Education Center for Teaching Excellence
Advising
Professional Advising offers personalized guidance for residential students. Professional Advisors are assigned to students in every program to assist them with reaching their academic and career goals. Professional Advisors are equipped to guide students through choosing or changing majors, course sequence planning, setting educational goals, determining priorities, understanding Degree Completion Plans, and more. They can also clarify university policies and procedures and show students how to access the many available resources and services on campus.

Academic Mentoring
Academic Mentoring empowers residential, undergraduate students to build essential skills for college success. Faculty and peer mentors are available for one-on-one appointments Monday through Friday.
Take advantage of peer- or faculty-led one-on-one appointments, which focus on:

Success Courses
The Academic Success Center offers courses and workshops to improve study skills and academic performance. In addition to theoretical knowledge, these courses include practical application and promote responsibility for pursuing academic goals. Mentoring from faculty is also available, offering students individual accessibility and accountability. Courses include:
MENT 101: Mentoring for University Transition
This course uses a small group setting to teach both the study strategies and life skills needed for a successful transition to college.
ASCS 101: Theory of Academic Success
This course emphasizes strategies such as time management, note-taking, test-taking, and various other study techniques.
ASCS 103: Practical Application of Academic Success
This course is designed to transition students from theoretical study skills to practical application essential to college success, such as organization, time management, metacognition, and a thorough understanding of the university’s resources.
ASCS 105: Accountability of Academic Success
This course is for upperclassmen who struggle with time management and meeting deadlines. Small group instruction and one-on-one professor mentoring are used to help students learn accountability and experience academic success.
Tutoring Services
Tutoring Services equips and encourages residential students to do their best academically by actively engaging them in the learning process. Highly skilled and trained peer tutors meet with students in oneon-one appointments. Group tutoring is also available for select courses. Tutoring is free and available for over 150 courses with appointments Monday through Friday.
Writing Services
Writing Services assists residential students in becoming effective and proficient in their academic, professional, and personal writing. The Writing Center is available to both undergraduate and graduate students. Our writing coaches offer one-on-one appointments to assist with any stage of the writing process.
Our website offers online resources like guides to citation formats (APA, Turabian, MLA, AMA, and Bluebook), grammar concepts, and more. Access them now at ARROW-POINTERLiberty.edu/Writing.

The Writing Center offers one-onone appointments with trained peer coaches for any stage of the writing process. Make an appointment at ARROW-POINTERLiberty.edu/Writing.
The Writing Lab is a walk-in service where a coach is available to answer quick questions as needed — both inperson and via chat. If you'd like to drop into the Writing Lab, no appointment is needed.

The general education curriculum includes courses that form the foundation of a liberal arts education and is designed to transform students into Christ-centered leaders who are equipped to impact the world. These courses prepare students with the foundational values, knowledge, and skills necessary for success in their majors and careers.
Teaching Excellence
The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) serves as a central location for faculty training, mentoring, professional development, and the collection and dissemination of information that promotes excellence in teaching at Liberty University. CTE offers services for online and residential faculty, including dropin support, workshops, webinars, teaching academies, and boot camps.

Career Services supports students and alumni through impactful coaching and employer connections. Career Services trains students and alumni to align personal goals, talents, and experiences in support of achieving their vocational goals by helping them move through a strategic career development process. TECHNICAL Studies
Technical Studies provides a way to enhance any degree by adding a skilled trade. Students can choose from carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or welding. The formal training is approved by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
