A Different Perspective

LIBERTYVIEW

Looks Can Be Deceiving One Might Be Very Surprised The advent of the internet means we now have the world at our fingertips. But how many websites are truly worth a repeat visit? Not many, I’m sure you would agree. With this in mind, Liberty View Magazine wants to be a website you visit multiple times each day.

We’re working to provide content that covers important national and state issues, as well as things that are happening on the local level. And, given that the magazine grew out of Billiam’s farm in Clintondale in the Town of Plattekill, we’ll also be bringing you regular

updates on farming life here in the Hudson Valley. Working with our neighbors to form a healthy and sustainable future is what it’s all about. Join us and add your voice to the chorus. Our comments section is open and awaiting your feedback.

SAILING Getting blown away... “My goal here, as always, is to inspire personal exploration” One of the best things I have done in a long time was to get into sailing on the mighty Hudson River! It is really beautiful and peaceful. In many ways the wind takes you magically away..... You can often find affordable sailboats on Craig’s List, everything included, and within a few days you can be sailing with friends on your own boat! Be creative. Go in on a sailboat with a few other people. You can share expenses and learn sailing together. I joined the Poughkeepsie Yacht Club and it has been amazing. The people are terrific, and I also go sailing with them frequently. And it’s situated in a beautiful spot. I often feel like I’m in Europe on a great vacation — a bracing experience, even if it’s for just a few hours. Sailing is sustainable and affordable. Very little fuel is used. And now is a great time to get into sailing. With the bottom falling out of the boating market, you can buy a boat for a very reasonable price. My boat is 25 feet, and it sleeps four, perfect for an afternoon on the Hudson River. To be continued......

I’ve been forced to explain homosexuality to my kids (aged 3 and 4) because their Uncle is gay. This incredibly difficult and traumatic experience went as follows: Child: Why does Uncle Bob go everywhere with Pete? Me: Because they’re in love, just like Mummy and Daddy are. Child: Oh... Can I have a biscuit? We’re all scared for his life, I tell you! - KateP
