Our Blogger of the Moment
Rachel Simpson is strenuously creating waves in the blogger world with her knowledgeable style. She is genuinely just one well-dressed lady who uses her boyfriend as her personal photographer‌ who would have thought! We caught up with the social media phenomena to chat about how she built her blog, her winter must haves and her thoughts on other fashion bloggers.
10
Hey Rachel! Tell us a little bit about yourself and your love for fashion? I created my blog Rachel Nicole over five years ago now when I left secondary school. I have always been interested in Fashion for as long as I can remember. I studied Fashion Design at College which I loved, then I furthered my studies to Birmingham City University where I am currently in my final year studying Fashion Business. What inspired you to start blogging? I had been reading blogs for a while and felt it would be something fun and interesting to do plus it allows me to create lifetime memories and I’ll be able to look back on it as a visual diary Did you have any professional help or did you do it all by yourself? I did it all myself and with the help of my boyfriend who takes a lot of my photos, he’s like my personal paparazzi, he loves it just as much as me! What’s the best perk of being a fashion blogger? I’ve met some lifelong friends through blogging and I’m also fortunate to have attended some amazing events including London Fashion Week which was incredible as you can imagine! The experiences are like no other, I wouldn’t change them for the world. Guess I have Blogger to thank for that! You have a lot of followers on your blog, how did you gain these? I’ve been blogging for five years so I guess it has just built over time. I also am quite active on social media and I’m always promoting my new posts on my Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages which always get great response. I also love giving away freebies as a little thank you to my lovely followers. How active are you on a weekly basis? How often do you post and interact with your followers? I always aim to post daily but it’s quite unrealistic. Normally I post about five times a week, however I always make sure they are interesting and image heavy posts.
11
What are your must have winter essentials? I love that in winter you can wrap up in big jumpers and boots. I always miss being able to wear pretty summer dresses though, I’m more of a summer girl than winter. What are your key pieces for A/W 15? I love a good faux fur jacket for winter as bit of glamour to your overall look. I’m so five different styles! I’ve also been loving look perfect over a turtle neck paired with knee high boots.
it just adds a obsessed; I have capes too which skinny jeans and
Your hair is so amazingly long? How do you keep it looking so thick and healthy? I don’t actually use a lot of product on my hair but I couldn’t live without my Tangle Teaser and I love Aussie’s 3 minute miracle treatment, it’s good value for money too! I hardly ever use straightening irons either; luckily for me my hair is naturally straight. Can you recommend any bloggers we should be on the lookout for this upcoming season? Frassy and The Little Magpie are my two favourite bloggers! But I also love The Style Rawr and Stylingo. You should definitely give them a follow, they are all individually different to one another and their style of blogging is impeccable.

The American singer/model/actress has sharp style credentials to match her talented status. Solange undoubtedly knows how to have fun when dressing, clashing multiple prints and colours to create looks that ooze individuality. All eyes on Em! With her unrefined good looks and innate charm, Emily Lima has risen through the ranks and become one of our most spoke about faces who is continuously helming our seasonal campaigns. Emily is for sure experiencing a major moment! This down to earth beauty stopped by to talk fashion, beauty and what it’s like to work with us great people here at Miss Guided.
16
So, modelling? How did it all begin? I have only been modelling for nine months. I was working on a friends stall at Clothes Show Live when I was scouted by a couple of agencies so thought I should give it a go. I went for a meeting with Storm and got signed pretty much straight after my first test shoot What have been your most memorable experiences so far? London Fashion week would definitely be at the top! It was the best buzz ever! But of course, I love being one of the new faces for Miss Guided! They give us so much freedom. We get to move about for the ecommerce shoots which are always so much fun. The shoots always feel very aspirational and editorial, so they are never ever boring. Plus the images always look great, don’t they?
of those, then you’ll probably find me curled up in a ball fast asleep somewhere (I’m the least glamorous model ever) Who is your most iconic figures within the fashion industry? I really admire Jourdan Dunn, purely for the fact she worked her way up from the very bottom after being scouted in Primark. How she juggles being a single parent alongside being one of the most demanded model’s within the industry astonishes me. She is definitely somebody we should all look up too!
They sure do! So, please tell us, how do you keep your skin looking so flawless? Honestly? I just drink plenty of water, at least three litres a day. I also cleanse and tone my skin every evening before bed and always make sure I use a non fragranced moisturising cream.
Have you any hints or tips you can share with us for aspiring models? Always be nice, respectful and approachable to bookers and clients. NO ONE LIKES A DIVA!
How would you describe your personal style? Very plain and simple, I dress for comfort, not appearance.
Okay, last question, any future career plans apart from modelling? At some point, I would love to become an art therapist, it has been my main goal since leaving college.
When off duty, what do you find yourself doing? I love spending time with family and friends. However, I do like to chill and do a bit of art. However if I’m not doing any 17

Model turned fitness guru Daisy Lowe knows how difficult it is to healthily shred those undesirable pounds. Being the daughter of singer turned fashion designer Pearl Lowe and lead singer for Bush, Gavin Rossdale, this brunette beauty has never been far from the medias eyes. When reaching the age of fifteen, Lowe got scouted by London based modelling agency Select where her career over the past eleven years has thoroughly progressed. Not only has Lowe walked the catwalk for top designers including Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, Henry Holland, Vivienne Westwood and Burberry, but she also carries the title of being one of London’s It Girls alongside her fashionable elite group of friends Millie Mackintosh, Alexa Chung, Peaches Geldof and Poppy Delevingne. However, her career developments haven’t always been plain sailing. At the age of 17, she was sent home from an Italian catwalk show for being too ‘big’. She may only be a size ten, but it has taken Lowe years to become happy with her body shape and banish her body confidence issues. Today, Lowe has finally found her niche in the industry with the title of being considered a curvaceous model. She is a champion of a more natural body size, having been highlighted as a positive role model by Vogue editor in chief Alexandra Schulman in a letter written to combat a size-zero fashion industry. The pressure of the industry and comments on her weight prompted Lowe to write a cookbook called Sweetness and Light. Within the book, there are recipes made up of wheat and dairy free products to avoid consumptions of food with high refined sugar intakes. Alongside her modelling career and successful book launch, Lowe also regularly trains with the Skinny Bitch Collective, who we recently collaborated with to bring you our Active collection. She trains alongside her famous friends including Suki Waterhouse and Florence Welch. We can’t help but obsess over those gluteus muscles of hers! She is an aspiration to us all; an iconic figure that inspires us to embrace our inner curves confidently. She is the ultimate Miss Guided girl! She’s empowering, she’s a believer, she takes the risks no one else dares to take and most of all she’s real. Our in house design team here at Miss Guided have teamed up with Lowe for the debut of our ready to wear Active collection which is said to be inspired by the 1980’s classic references. The collection style heroines? A winning mix of Lucinda Dickey from the classic film Breakin’ 2 - Electric Boogaloo, and of course the ultimate vogue queen to date, Madonna. This upcoming collection has been designed to make you slim and trim and will come with variety of new exercise tools and routines. As quoted by Mr T himself, we pity the fools who don’t follow our directions! So keep your eyes peeled for this exclusive launch on Friday 11th December and be sure to have the collection at the top of your Christmas wish lists ready to take 2016 by storm. 19
Give Yourself a Body Boost
Charli Cohen
It may seem a little premature to be talking about our summer bodies in late September, especially with those summer months being long gone. With the arrival of nights becoming noticeably earlier and the temperature outside cooling considerably, our fitness routines do tend to go into hibernation. But trust us when we say, it doesn’t have to! There are plenty of ways to stay active and prevent weight gain during these cold months.
THIS SEASONS MUST HAVE CELEBRITY WORKOUT WARDROBE
Alessandra Ambrosio
There is no reason why you can’t continue a wide range of activities all year round. This season it’s all about fusing body-sculpting with simplistic designs and fabrics that keep moisture away from our skin to prevent us becoming wet and cold. Designer Charli Cohen has set the trend with his luxe A/W15 leisurewear collection showcased at this year’s London Fashion Week alongside models Amy Willerton and Alessandra Ambrosio who are sincere proof that beach bodies are built in the winter.

TRIED AND TESTED Bulgur Wheat: It’s so carb-like! These bitter months call for home cooked meals, the meals that warm the cockles of our hearts, especially those hearty carbs… until they leave their mark on our tummies causing that dreaded inflation. However, have no fear because Bulgur is here! These tiny Turkish cereal grains are naturally high in fibre but low in fat and calories. At the moment, it’s the must eat carb substitute on celebrity menus. Use in salads and stir fries or as a side for curries, chillies and stews. These nutritious grains can be found in nearly all food stores on the baking or cereal aisles. Ladies, it’s time to say goodbye to bulge and hello to bulg!
DON’T RESIST!

These bands are extra strong with long resistance designed for heavy duty training which is affective for both upper and lower body training. They are available in 5 different resistances to ensure the greatest variety of exercises can be performed and are suitable for all fitness levels, even those who have never worked out. Moreover, you can use these bands within the comfort of your own homes! See, that’s one way to stay active during these cold months, thank us later.

Meet our Stylist Sara Wilson lives and breathes fashion, with a real consciousness for style. In this exclusive interview, Sara tells us how she landed her dream role here at Miss Guided and shares her top tips for you aspiring stylists out there.
26
So Sara, tell us, have you always wanted to be a stylist? When reaching the age of 17 I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do, but not many girls out there do as you haven’t experienced anything in terms of job roles. At first, I thought I wanted to be a Fashion Buyer, however once you’re in the industry you get a much better feel of what position is actually suitable for you, not just in terms of skills, but your personality as well. It turned out that all the numbers were not for me, I needed to be more active and creative. Slowly, I got to where I needed and wanted to be
Where did you study or train to become a stylist? I started off with a Fashion Buying Degree and from this I went into Personal Shopping, Visual Merchandising and Buying before finally realising I had a natural creative flare for Personal Styling. For the past four years I have worked my way into a senior position 27
How did you land your position here at Miss Guided?
At first, I actually applied for the Buying role as that was the only available position. Within the interview, I was extremely lucky because the managing director recognised my potential as a creative and began the interview with ‘I am not here to interview you as a Buyer… ‘. He then created the role for me himself, and four years later… here I am!
Miss Guided perks?
The place and the people! I am so lucky to work alongside such an amazing and talented team. They are my family and my best friends. That includes the studio members, the models and the makeup artists. We carry each other, support each other and we have the best time. Doesn’t really sound like work does it? Although it isn’t plain sailing, it is hard work, and that’s why you need amazing people alongside you
So, what have been your best experiences so far?
My first shoot abroad was amazing, one truck, seven people and an incredible Brazilian model plus 3 days in sunny Barcelona. Since then I have worked with some of my dream models, especially girls I have re-blogged and re-tumblred for years. Also working with Nicole Scherzinger in L.A for a week was pretty damn awesome, as you could imagine
Describe your style in three words
Comfortable, minimal and often oversized. I am often crawling and running around a lot at work so oversized dresses, vests, t-shirts and trainers or Dr Martens are a must. If the hair is being a ‘mare’ then a hat never fails to save the day
When choosing outfits, where does your inspiration come from?
Definitely the street and street style blogs! however I do regularly use Pinterest and watch different films which give me heaps of inspiration. For me, it happens when I’m not intentionally looking. The other day I was watching ‘Almost Famous’ and loved this particular lingerie/dress combo so that image has gone up on my inspiration wall. The photo album in my phone is also full of random screen shots and sneakily taken images which I regularly use. Promise I’m not a creep! 28
Must have fashion pieces for the winter?
Winter is my favourite season. I love fur! Faux fur of course. I have too many fur coats; my boyfriend is desperate for me to sell them as he no longer has any wardrobe space. Their colours vary from greens to leopard prints to black and blues, you name it, I have it!
Do you have any hints or tips for aspiring stylists?
Intern Intern Intern! But whilst doing it, make sure you smile, be happy and do whatever is thrown at you. Show passion then go above and beyond expectations. I have had a few interns get full time jobs here at Miss Guided because we just couldn’t let them go. Even those we can’t offer a position to, we always keep in touch and ask them to come back and help with TV adverts or Campaign shoots. You remember those that kept smiling even when they had to do something less than glamorous (styling isn’t all bright lights and hot fashion). Check out Sara’s style blog at saraluxe.com Or follow her on Instagram at @sara_luxe 29

MAKEUP Eyes Master the line Need a quick statement style up? A pair of winged eyes will winningly take you from morning to night. It can be a tricky skill to master, so we advise you beginners keep it simple by lining the lid with a soft black pencil before you let loose with the liquid stuff. This will ensure you grasp the technique down to a tee. Fancy being a little daring? Add a little white liner too.
