ABOUT THE LIBIN
CARDIOVASCULAR INSTITUTE OF ALBERTA Through philanthropic support from the community, including a very generous founding donation from the Alvin and Mona Libin Foundation, the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta was established on January 27, 2004.
MISSION
The Institute will be a model program of cardiovascular care from health promotion and disease prevention, through diagnosis and treatment, to rehabilitation and palliation in an environment that fosters the generation of new knowledge and education of new practitioners and scientists. It is committed to integrating research, education, and clinical care through collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches.
VISION
As an entity of both Alberta Health Services and the University of Calgary, the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta not only encompasses the clinical and academic departments of cardiac sciences, but also clinician and/or research members over a multitude of fields. It conducts basic science, clinical, and outcomes research; provides graduate, postdoctoral, and clinical training; and delivers a full range of cardiac health care services. It is truly novel as it is the only institution in Canada to offer a single cardiovascular program that promotes quality standards of care across the city and region.
To provide a superb, efficient, integrated program of cardiovascular wellness, health care, research, and education.
