The Definitive Family Sailboat The "cruising" features of the Lido are outstanding. Contoured bench seats run the full length of the cockpit and offer comfortable seating for up to six adults. A carefully designed deck keeps the cockpit dry and provides good footing for boarding. Beginners find the Lido 14 comfortable and safe and delightfully easy to learn in. They love the Lido's stability and its spacious cockpit.

One Design Racing It didn’t take long before racing the “Definitive Family Sailboat” became a passion. The first Class Championship was held in 1958, less than a year after production started. Experienced sailors find superb competition in the Lido 14 Class. Strict one design class rules place the emphasis on the skill of the skipper and crew. For this reason, many Olympic-caliber sailors have been attracted to the class. At the same time, boats sailed by couples and family members continue to be extremely competitive. In most class events the Lido class is divided into two fleets to offer fair competition for all entrants. The National Class Association ( www.Lido14.com ) coordinates exciting activities for all Lido sailors and publishes an excellent class newsletter.

About the Class Association The Association is made up of local Fleet and membership at large. Local Fleets are organized into Districts which cover a larger geographical area. Each Fleet has a Fleet Captain and Secretary although many have Treasurers, Measurers and other positions such as Trophy Director and Publicity Director. Each District has a Secretary that sits on the Governing Board. The Governing Board consists of the Class President, Past President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chief Measurer, Honorary Director Tom Schock as well as additional Directors as elected by the membership or Governing Board. Local Fleets put on the majority of events and regattas. Each District holds an annual District Championship and the Class Association coordinates and/or assists in the Class Championship, Women’s Championship and Junior Championship. The Association through the Governing Board maintains membership and financial records, looks forward to choosing a location for future Championships, publishes quarterly newsletters (The Bowwave), maintains the Class website ( www.Lido14.com ) clarifies, interprets and tries to improve measurement rules and procedures and maintains the Association By-Laws in addition to suggesting By-Law changes to all members at the annual Association Meeting.

A high gloss gel coat is used in the hull. DECK The deck is also 100% hand laid up fiberglass. Wood, foam, and additional fiberglass laminations are applied in load bearing areas. The deck is attached to the hull with a continuous bond for high strength. STANDARD COLOR The standard color of the hull is white. The deck is light gray to minimize glare. The waterline can be either red or blue. A full range of colors for the hull and waterline are available as options. HARDWARE A stainless steel bow fitting and mast hinge are standard. The mast hinge makes raising and lowering the mast extremely easy. Ronstan cam cleats are used for the jib sheets. The mainsheet is trimmed with a Harken combination ratchet block and cam cleat swivel. The shroud adjusters make set-up fast and easy. A Harken eye strap is installed in the transom for the aft line of the optional lifting sling. The forward lines of the sling go to the deck eyes at the shrouds.
