She’s best known for her concept albums, in which she updates traditional styles of music with sharp, funny and incisive lyrics. Her 2017 release, An American in Havana, is the result of two trips to Cuba in the past two years and blends Cuban rhythms with her signature storytelling, humor and poetry. Werner composes skillful songs that effortlessly slide between folk, jazz and pop. They are all delivered with sassy wit and classic Midwestern charm. As she continues to challenge herself to conquer new styles, her boundless versatility has emerged as a hallmark of Werner’s talent and has proven to be a quintessential ingredient of her engrossing musical persona. With her charisma and masterful songwriting, it’s no wonder she has received rave reviews from audiences as well as media. There will be no intermission. Selections will be announced from the stage.
