Community Partner Resource Packet Spring 2013 Dear Community Partners: Enclosed you will find everything you need to refer prospective students to our program for the Spring 2013 semester. Early Bird Spring 2013 Registration Applicants will be able to apply online beginning October 1, 2012. Applications will be accepted and processed on-going and online at www.farmingdale.edu/lieoc for this early bird registration. Once prospects complete the online application they will need to contact their nearest location (Brentwood, Farmingdale, Hempstead) for the eligibility requirements and to secure an appointment with a counselor. Walk-In Registration Walk-in registration will be held on January 14, 15, and 16, 10am-1pm and 4pm-7pm. During walk-in registration, students will meet with counselors and staff. They may also test (testing time is approximately 2 hrs). Academic advisement will also be available. Please keep in mind that programs are filled based on availability. In addition to eligibility requirements, we have included updated program flyers; a staff contact list, and our Fall 2012 academic calendar. The spring 2013 academic calendar will be available on our website mid-October. Educational Opportunity Center Facts Often confused with the Economic Opportunity Commission, the Educational Opportunity Centers make up the only free program in the State University of New York. While there are 12 Educational Opportunity Centers in New York State, Farmingdale State College State is University of New the Long Island EOC the largest ofYork them all.

The results from the TABE or ESL entrance testing along with income, identification, and other eligibility requirements provided to the counselor will determine applicant’s acceptance or denial into the program.

Long Island Educational Opportunity Center Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission into the Long Island Educational Opportunity Center, you must bring in all of the the following documents that apply to you when you meet with the counselor:

I. Proof of New York State Residency for More Than 1 Year

II. Proof of Identification

 NY State Driver’s License or NY State Identification Card or  Benefit Card  Social Security Card or  Tax Identification Number  2011 Federal Tax Return (Form 1040)

III. Proof of Financial Need AND Any one of the following additional documents that may apply to you:  Unemployment Letter  DSS Budget Print-out  Rent or Utility Receipt  SSI Award Letter  Copy of Lease/Section 8 IV. Proof of Academic Need

 High School Diploma or GED for applicants interested in College Preparation or Vocational Programs

ATTAIN Computer Lab Advanced Technology Training and Informa4on Networking The Hempstead and Brentwood units of the LIEOC are the proud hosts to SUNY ATTAIN labs. Funded by the New York State Legislature the SUNY ATTAIN labs are designed to provide members of impoverished communiGes with access to new technologies, self-­‐directed educaGonal and career-­‐oriented training, and MicrosoK MOS and MTA cerGficaGon training. The lab offers over 32 computer-­‐based occupaGonal, academic, and self-­‐development courses that give users the ability to work toward both educaGonal and career-­‐related goals.
