Dear Community Partner: We look forward to assisting you and your community. The LIEOC has been serving the Long Island region for over 40 years. The Educational Opportunity Centers, a division of SUNY, assist economically and educationally challenged individuals in accessing vocational and educational programs that enhance their ability to achieve a better quality of life. Our programs are always offered tuition free. Enclosed you will find the information you need to refer prospective students to our program. Typically, classes are held from January to May and September until December each year. Additional offerings may be available based on need and resources. This comprehensive packet includes updated program flyers, eligibility requirements and a staff contact list. Academic calendars can be accessed through our website at www.lieoc.org Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, with class registration held prior to each session’s start date. Applications are accessed online at www.lieoc.org . Once prospects complete the online application, they then contact the nearest location (Brentwood, Farmingdale, Hempstead) to review the eligibility requirements and to secure an appointment with a counselor. Contact the selected instructional unit to inquire about Walk In Registration information. These sessions are generally available within two weeks of the scheduled start date of classes. Prospects will meet with a counselor, test to determine placement options and receive academic advisement. Please anticipate two to three hours for processing. Programs are filled based on space availability, so prospects are encouraged to complete the application process as early as possible. If you have any questions regarding this packet, our programs or course offerings, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
