2016 Highlights

Who We Are:

Life Adventure Center changes lives through outdoor adventure. We harness evidence-based theories of experiential education to innovatively combine group dynamics, psychology, meditation, equine assisted learning/psychotherapy, & outdoor adventure to build resiliency, communication, teambuilding, & selfefficacy. More than mere recreation, we employ a guided “debriefing” process to actualize life-changing, break-through transformations. Our camps & retreats heal veterans, reconnect families, & build resiliency in the most vulnerable youth! 

We don’t know all of Jordan’s story, but we know the world has been unfair to him. Challenged by an incarcerated parent, his home life is tough. Part of the beauty about coming to Life Adventure Center is Jordan doesn’t have to tell us his story; he just has to know that here, he’s accepted… he’s supported… he’s loved. This summer, Jordan got to be a camper - not a patient, not a victim, not a sad story. He got to be a kid, sing camp songs, canoe, hike the woods, ride horses &, most importantly, Jordan got to learn he can do things he NEVER thought possible! Jordan got to experience caring people building him up rather than tearing him down. Jordan even got to build up other people too! Jordan’s week at camp was no easy task. He truly had to challenge himself to accomplish some of the tasks. He faced many challenges that in his mind were impossible. But we were privileged to witness his face when he did accomplish those challenges! We witnessed him persevere, learn, & develop resiliency through his accomplishments. We witnessed a child’s tears transform into a puffed up chest & a proud face. When asked to pick out a rock from our garden, he took his time scrutinizing every option. Finding the perfect teardrop shape at last, he painted: “Never let your tears stop you - Always be happy” on the stone. When asked to explain, he simply stated: “This place inspires me to look at the happy side.” Jordan told our group that a teacher once asked all of her students to think of a safe space. In the past, Jordan could not think of a safe space because there aren’t many in his world. “But next year, I’m going to say LAC! I never knew so many happy nice people could be in one place!” Your gift ensured Jordan’s safe space. Your gift created the touch stone of resilience for Jordan’s life. Your gift will bring Jordan, & hundreds of other Jordans back to us. Your gift changed Jordan’s life—& can change hundreds more! On Jordan’s behalf, THANK

YOU!

THANK YOU!

“Thank you for making Military Teen Adventure Camps possible for military families. We were able to GROW A LITTLE CLOSER, DIG A LITTLE DEEPER & HEAL A LITTLE MORE.”

Shifting away from a prior, “fee-for-service,” recreational focus serving mainstream clients, 2016 marked our organization’s re-dedication to serving the underserved. With your help, we developing several unique, impactful camps & retreats - achieving both regional & national recognition for our innovation. Combining the healing power of nature with evidenced-based theories of psychology, trauma recovery & experiential education, we achieved break-thru impacts unavailable through traditional methods. A psychologist recently reported, “your program did in just a few days what would have taken me months to accomplish thru traditional therapy!” Your gifts healed warriors from PTSd. Your gifts reconnected military families after the strains of deployment. Your gifts healed women recovering from human trafficking. Your gifts built resiliency in impoverished and traumatized children. Your gifts changed lives! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to change a life once again. Please consider increasing your gift in 2017. On behalf of the lives you’ll change once again, THANK

“ I hope you never forget the impact you had on my life! Again, THANK YOU!” - Sabrina

YOU!
