Summer

is in full swing at Maxwell AFB and Gunter Annex! We are excited to see so many new faces arriving on base for classes and programs at Air University, as well as new teammates joining the Alabama River Region miltary community. As the Commander of the 42d Force Support Squadron, I welcome you to Maxwell AFB, known as “the best home-town in the Air Force.” We look forward to serving you and your families. The 42d FSS operates many of the facilities on base where we encourage you to relax, unwind and enjoy time with your family, friends, and classmates. If you are here short-term or for a longer course, you’ll want to check out the dining and recreation opportunities available, especially our newest activity center, Range 42. Range 42 is a covered driving range with six bays that can accommodate up to six people in each bay. It is the first golf driving range in the Department of Defense to feature the Toptracer technology that can trace your shot and provide feedback on how far your ball went, how fast your ball went, and where it went. Golfers and non-golfers alike will have fun playing virtual courses, practicing their shots with real-time analytics, and spending time with family and friends in the comfortable outdoor setting. Range 42 Bar and Grill offers a variety of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and drinks to enjoy while you play. Visit Rickenbacker’s T&G at Maxwell AFB and Hangar 42 at Gunter Annex for great Starbucks© coffee and delicious breakfast sandwiches. You really should try the legacy club sandwich, and the chicken chipotle flatbread at lunch, too! The Maxwell Event Center Maxwell Event Center is the ideal place for group meetings and official functions on base. The Event Center offers a large ballroom, 5 meeting or banquet rooms, full-service catering, audiovisual support, and professional staff to meet your needs. We can accommodate groups and meetings for up to 400 guests. The Event Center hosts karaoke in the main lounge on selected Thursdays and is also hosting a parent-child dance in August. The dance is a fun event with music, games, dancing and delicious party food everyone will enjoy. For a family outing or for a great workday lunch, visit Gunter Lanes bowling center. The snack bar offers pizza, wings, burgers and more for lunch and dinner. Beer, wine, and spirits are available for an adult night out, too! The Outdoor Recreation Office and Information, Tickets and Tours office can help you plan a trip to Disneyworld, Universal Studios or just a weekend get-away. You can also rent everything you’ll need for a camping trip to the great outdoors or to have a backyard party or barbecue. You can learn more about everything offered on base at www.lifeatthemax.us and check us out on Facebook @MaxwellGunterLifeattheMax -Lt Col Jenny Stewart
