FRESH START "Suggestions for Making This Year Count"
A new year brings excitement to most people because it's a chance to start over and wipe your slate clean. •
Work to improve your communication skills
•
Reconnect with your in-person support system and network
•

AVAILABLE WORKSHOPS EMPOWERING PARENTS TO BE THEIR CHILD'S STRONGEST ADVOCATE Early Literacy
WHO WE ARE
MCEC Parent Support provides informative and interactive parent workshops to groups and organizations in the local community.
OUR MISSION
Parent Support serves parents affected by transition through teams placed primarily in highly mobile military communities and installations. Our goal is to empower the best "guidance counselors" (the parents) to be informed, positive, and proactive transition specialists at home by understanding the academic, social, and emotional implications of school moves
Join us for an early literacy event that includes a story and activities for your child. We also share tips and ideas for things you can do at home to make the world of books come alive for your child.
Coping Skills This workshop helps parents understand the basics of resilience with a strong focus on transitions and developing coping skills. It is based on Dr. Ken Ginsburg's 7 C's of Resiliency.
Healthy Screen Time Habits Are you experiencing a never-ending battle over screen time with your children? Join us as we share what research says about the benefits of establishing healthy limits on the amount of time our military-connected children spend in front of the screens. We will also discuss practical ways you can help your children develop healthy screen time habits and offer alternatives to the screen.
Coaching the Home Run Reader Reading is the most important skill a child can develop to achieve academic success. This workshop identifies tools, best practices, and activity ideas that parents can use to coach a home run reader. It also addresses reading while the Service Member is deployed or away.
Workshops that are conducted in-person

STAY FIT WITH THESE TIPS TIP #1
TIP #2 TIP #3
Finding a workout you actually like is key to staying consistent with your fitness routine. If you're not used to working out every day, take your time. If it hurts - stop and rest and/or consider a different routine.
Don't forget leg day! Try combining cardioworkouts with strength workouts so you can get the most out of your training.
Try isolation exercises by focusing on one muscle group at a time. This will help improve muscle weakness and allow for other muscle groups a chance to recover.
TIP #4
Having trouble getting in the rhythm of your workout? Get motivated by listening to songs that make you feel strong, powerful, and like you can do anything.

Spring Break Golf For Kids March 21-24 • 5-6:30pm Cypress Tree Golf Course is hosting a fun and affordable clinic for children ages 8-12. Attendees will learn how to play the game of golf and receive their very own set of starter clubs! The cost is $180 per child or $260 if your junior golfer is over 5' (due to size difference of clubs used), If your child already has their own set of clubs the cost is only $60 per child. Young golfers will tee off between 5-6:30pm. For more information, call (334)953-2209
TIP #1
Golf is for everyone and especially great for those who love a challenge. There is always room for improvement and utilizing the handicap system allows players of all levels to play together and have a fun time.
TIP #2 TIP #3
Start strong! It's easier to learn a new skill than it is to fix bad habits. Build a strong foundation by taking private lessons or register for group classes.
Perfect your swing. Beginners often try to hit the ball as hard and as far as they can, sacrificing good form. Focus on swinging the club from start to finish and let your ball get in the way.
