creative prayer

Do you have a desire for people who are hurting? If not, what can you do to build that desire in yourself? What does God say about our responsibility to hurting people? Are you praying for God to send you and other believers to be the hands and feet of Christ to lost and dying people? How can you remind yourself to make that a priority? What are you doing to reach out to people in need, in your community and around the world?

The neighborhood that you live in and the school that you attend are in need of the love of Christ. This world you are a part of is broken and hurting. As believers, we are the workers of the harvest, and the fields are ready to be harvested. The needs we see all around us should put us on our face before God, begging Him to send workers to the fields, and asking Him to show us how we can be used to bring hope to a lost and dying world. We should ask God (the Lord of the harvest), to send us to be the healers of need and bearers of hope. The gospel is hope for all people . . . and you are a harvester.

READ MATTHEW 9:35-38. Jesus is going from town to town, bringing spiritual and physical healing to person after person. There are crowds full of endless needs. Along the way, Jesus breaks it down for His disciples. He gives them this picture of a vast field, ready and waiting to be harvested, and tells them that it is in need of workers. He is explaining to them that people are sick and hurting and are in need of hope, but there aren’t many who would help them. The message He gave the disciples is no different for us. The world we live in is filled with so much pain, and the workers are still few.

854 million starving people. 143 million orphaned children. 2.68 billion people with no access to the gospel at all. These numbers will make your heart sink and your head spin. The heartache in our world is so overwhelming. The need is so great. Where do you fit in to all of this?
