Create a Family Emergency Plan How You Can Improve Your Credit Score Here ph

No one wants to contemplate the aftermath of a family emergency, but things do happen. In order to keep your family safe from harm, you should have a family emergency plan. This will help keep you organized and safe in the event of a natural disaster, a break-in or any other type of threat. Create a Family Emergency Plan: Phone Numbers Everyone in your family – children included – should know the work, cellular and pager numbers for everyone else. It is imperative that you be able to get into contact with other family members in the event of an emergency. Children should also know the name and phone number for other trusted adults should they be unable to reach their parent(s). Create a Family Emergency Plan: Educate the Children Kids who are left home alone after school or during the summer should know all of the safety procedures. For example, if they come home to find the front door open, they should be told to run to a neighbor’s to use the phone. They should also have access to a list of emergency numbers near the phone: doctor, fire department, police department and poison control center. Create a Family Emergency Plan: Meeting Place

Should something happen to your home or to a family member, everyone should have a meeting place. It is usually best to decide on a meeting place that is least a mile away from your home in case a natural disaster prevents you from entering your neighborhood. Examples could include a school parking lot, an all-night grocery store, a relative’s home or a public library. Create a Family Emergency Plan: Injury If an adult in your family is injured, have a plan to take care of the children. For example, if Mom is injured in a car accident, there should be another adult who can pick up the kids from day care or school. Children should carry their parents’ telephone numbers in their backpacks to school and to friends’ houses in case they are injured and unable to give the proper contact information. Create a Family Emergency Plan: Choose a Leader One of the most common ways that we deal with crises is by arguing about what to do. To avoid this type of problem, designate a family leader who will make the decisions in an emergency.
