(Image Credit: FightEmpire.com) Although an opinion, mixed martial arts (MMA) is undoubtedly one of the most "understated", yet, popular sports today. I’ve been a fan of this industry for a few years and have followed its progression from an underground, "invite only" sport to being the predominate storyline in movies (e.g. Never Back Down, Redbelt, etc.) and now mobile apps. For a community that’s still slightly niche and close knit, MMA’s venture and evolution into more mainstream platforms is a step in the right direction. For example, whereas many sports organizations were originally hesitant to adopt social media, UFC officials held a fighter summit a few years ago and one of the major recurring themes was how to use social media as a way to build a fighter’s fan base. UFC fighter Joe Lauzon continues to meet his fans daily through interaction on Twitter, Facebook, and his personal website. This type of interaction and engagement is something that fans crave for, and Lauzon is using it to his advantage to continue building a larger fan base (which could appealing to potential endorsers) and morale support in fights.

With smartphone devices getting smarter, it’s only natural that the next stage in evolution is to release mobile apps that help the sport enter your living rooms more often. Having the
