He also believes in being straightforward with people — both employees and suppliers: “Trust is something you just can’t buy.” This rapidly growing magazine publishing empire moved to Grayshott in early 2006 after acquiring D J Murphy, a 60-year-old family firm that published equestrian titles. The business has doubled in size since then, winning major publishing awards every year. This year Signature won the PPA

Online publishing complements print. “Our magazine websites strengthen our relationship with readers and provide us with another dimension and a way to interact with them,” explains Clive, who believes that new technologies re-define rather than replace existing ones. Clive has lived in the Grayshott area for 19 years, and he likes to relax by racing classic cars — he has a Datsun 240Z. His goals are lift Signature into the top 25 consumer publishers within the next three years — and to keep investing in people!
