(including from SEEDA;) the establishment of the Farmers market at the end of 2007; and several schemes for young people. After the January meeting, focus groups and questionnaires will seek more views from the people of Haslemere. So look out for surveys and make your voice heard in how the town will develop in the next five years. Key considerations to be aired at the January meeting included: the development of the town centre; parking; the retail balance (including restaurants); more projects to help young people; and developing the Food Festival to include literature and other activities. At the same time, the Chamber of Commerce and Trade have announced that they will stage their second Awards this year, with the prizes presented at the dinner which follows their AGM, at the Georgian House Hotel, on 25 April. So, if you are in business, choose one of the six categories and get your company entered for the April Awards (see page 14 for details of the Initiative and the Chamber Awards).

her partner, Dave Oliver, jumped at the chance of acquiring the business and have since given it a bright and breezy makeover. She has a team of friendly and experienced staff and Elysium were one of the first salons in the country to start using Aveda hairstyling products that are derived naturally from pure flower and plant essences. As part of the refurbishment Jo has treated the salon to a new massage chair, which she hopes customers will enjoy while they soak up the new calming atmosphere. They have big plans for the business, but for now are enjoying the new ownership and attracting old and new customers back. They hope to hold an official opening in the summer. and Farnham and they back this up by supporting local activities like sponsorship of the cricket and junior football teams. Honda are one of the market leaders for eco-friendly motoring, with their Civic Hybrid which combines an electric motor and a small 1.3 litre petrol engine. The result is that acceleration is good and the car can run 720 miles on one tank of petrol – producing lower emissions and therefore not subject to the higher congestion charge in London. Although Yeomans sell the complete Honda range, their current best sellers are the CRV 4-wheel drive SUV at the higher end of the range and the Jazz, a town car in the ‘supermini’ sector and Honda’s smallest car with low running costs and a fuel efficient engine. Yeomans currently sell about 50:50 new and used cars and have a good stock of Honda approved previously owned vehicles with the manufacturer’s warranty on sale with starting prices from around £6,000.
